FYI just for some future reference you should buy a solder pump which would help on removeal and also when your soldering you dont actually touch the solder to the pen you heat up the capacitor legs and hold the solder to the leg and it will flow right over the hole. would also help if you dip the legs into some flux which will make it easier and also faster but do make sure you clean up the flus afterwards
Nice video. I have an EN8600gt that cost me $250 some year back. Just a few months ago the screen wouldn't turn on and after lots of troubleshooting I gave up and got another gpu. Any hints? Is a 350w powersupply too little for it? was working fine for a year.
@dxproductions100 No. I am just using the monitor that came with it because I don't have money for a nice LCD screen. I am running a custom box with an Acer Aspire M1100 Mobo and AMD Athlon 64X2 microprocessor. Other than the monitor, the only eMachine part is the mouse and one of my DVD drives. Not the fastest computer, but pretty decent, and as you say, way better than the cheap ol' eMachines.
Just a note, you might want to use proper workbench next time. Not you lap. Hot angry soldering irons and sensitive parts of the body don't mix unless you're with the CIA.
The capacitors are probably the problem. Bad caps and other components can work when warm but not when cold. You can get a can of freeze spray at Radio Shack or other places, spray it on the caps with computer running, and if video goes out after you spray, you know its the capacitors.
Thanx for the encouragement. I have geforce 5200 with round top capacitors and it gives more and more often signs of dieing. Like flickering of screen (black out and jumps off full screen) when watching video news full screen in morning. I think that foulty capacitors want to warm up to work propably, becouse about after an 30 min everything is ok. What do you think?
hi i have a 9800 its working fine until i clean with pressure air after that dont send video apparently do nothing but i touch the card and its a little hot can i fix or its dead bye
ah yes I had this problem too, Im in a electronics class so I already knew how to do this, But this is a great video for people starting out. Very well made! I was searching up about this topic because the card randomly blew in my friends computer so i fixed it and got a free graphics card
Hey, good job. I watched your video and decided to do it myself too. I bought the capacitors for 5 bucks, and had a friend solder them in. worked like a charm. I probably wouldnt have done it if you didnt post this vid. Good job, and keep up the good work. (saved 50 bucks by the way)
I plan on replacing some capacitors for my graphic card soon. What i want to know though, is will I need to replace all of them? Only 3 went bad, but they're cheapos that came with the card. I went ahead and bought 9 capacitors of the same uf and voltage ratings. should i replace all the cheapos? or just the ones that are damaged?
And don't forget to buy ULTRA LOW ESR caps if you do this!

Yes. The price of new video cards has come down very much in recent years, and you can get many that are better than the GeForce for a $15 or $20.

Those Geforce 6200's aren't worth saving.

I think start from changeing damaged ones first, and then try if it works. What possibly could happen?
