I just dont know, this guys voice sort of puts the song in to a rockabilly mood with a tim mc graw twist. All in all i dont think i am to fond of this interpretation of this great song. The ballad of curtis loew is what it is and it is one of those soulfull songs with such deep meaning that it just cant be duplicated. The song is pure and needs to remain that way.

Cover songs are supposed to change it up without ruining the song. Now I'm no fan of Ashley Ray's cover of Sweet Home Alabama, but that's fine, it's her interpretation (or record company's interpretation) but I really dig Eric's version of The Ballad of Curtis Leow.

first of all, this is a tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, honoring what they have given to music....id love to listen to the real skynyrd play the song, unfortunately that is impossible, why dont you rip on the "skynyrd" "covering" these songs now that they are on tour playing every day, church is a great musician, end of story.

@TheSpawnofSkynyrd we get it, you're a Skynyrd fan, but nobody will ever play as good as the original. You can't expect someone to live up to that standard. Yea, Church's voice quivers, but that's his style. Every song he does is like that. It's a cover, a tribute. It's not the original and you can't expect it to be. If you don't like it, find a song you do.

@DallasGreensBeard Agreed. I'm a huge Skynyrd fan. The last thing I want to do is hear a cover that sounds exactly or tries to sound exactly like the original. Cover songs are supposed to change it up without ruining the song. Now I'm no fan of Ashley Ray's cover of Sweet Home Alabama, but that's fine, it's her interpretation (or record company's interpretation) but I really dig Eric's version of The Ballad of Curtis Leow.

@DallasGreensBeard i like church alot....one of my fav. contry singers.....but the way he sings it isnt right he put to much of a beat into it its saposed to a slow....ballad.....not a very good version of the song....and jamey sing four walls of raiford, was just as good if not better than the orginal....and i love skynyrd....and nobody can compete with ronnys voice but jammie was built for that song...and church bombed

The song is available on the, "Sweet Home Alabama- Country Music Tribute to Lynard Skynard" cd. The cd is only available at Wal-Mart... I have posted a couple other songs from that cd, it's really good, I recommend checking them out.
