This is great! Thanks so much for sharing. I've only ever heard Mary Costa singing opera arias --- and Disney's "Sleeping Beauty", of course! This is a great number.
@IJDS99 also, she has a southern accent and in the movie, she had to make a more european, medieval voice to match sleeping beauty's time, you know? :)
Every time I see Mr. Calhoun, I'm completely in awe of his uncanny ability at walking and talking!...Look at him...standing there...on his hind legs...
Am I the only one that thinks that people from pre 70's in America sound COMPLETELY different in accent from 21st century Americans? They have this odd "tone" to their voice, especially when they say sounds like "o" in "George".
When Mary Costa says her and Rory worked together before it reminds me of the part in Sleeping Beauty when she says " but we've met before" during once upon a dream :)
It's always interesting to see young stars who later go on to even bigger things. Mary Costa found greater fame as the voice of Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" and then as a major opera singer in the 1960s-1980s before her retirement. And best of all, look up some of her photos today - she still looks great in her 70s!
oh yeah, kyler, you got that right. I happen to see Mary quite often and she looks just as good now as she did then. Ageless is the word I would use to describe her. Always full of energy. And Mary, I hope you're reading this!
When I was a kid, Rory was a big hero as he played a good guy cowboy on Tv. And then a few years ago, I see him playing the bad guy in the River of No Return and the guy who steals Susan Hayward away from her husband in a Song in My Heart, and I developed mixed emotions. And then last week, I see him playing an evil big game hunter on a rerun of Gilligan's Island. Oh, well...
Lots of people are not aware that Jack hosted several episodes of this show one year, so that even though his own half hour show was on every other week- switching with ann southern- he was on the air alot in the 1956-7
I just saw them in "The Big Caper" yesterday. It's a dandy film-noir and they were quite good.

@IJDS99 cause it's not opera singing. this singing technique is different. and she doesn't sing high notes here like she did in "Sleeping Beauty"
