urdu is not a language at all. its just a mix of hindi with some extra persian and arabic words. The entire grammar of urdu is based on sanskrit. Thats why iranians and arabs cannot understand urdu. Most words in Hindi Language is from Farsi (Persian Language) and urdu is about 75% is Farsi but the base for Urdu is Hindi and the base for all these 3 langauges is from Arabic beacause arabic is world's 2nd oldest language. It is not just the language but also a mindset, back in those days the songs were written mostly by Muslims. Lately Bollywood is putting out dance beats as songs, they don't particularly need any language. They are usually very primitive script with a few big Urdu words sprinkled about and usually a misfit, at least to a native Urdu speaker. In Urdu song have been considered more an extension of poetry than music. Indeed there are beautiful Urdu songs without any music at all.

South Asia is very poor in languages, all it's languages are quite rudimentary compared to the middle-eastern languages, European and Central Asian languages. They all have to borrow from other languages to become functional. Urdu has just done a better job of than others because of it's religious and cultural proximity to the middle-east and Central Asia. Now in Pakistan we also have geographic and political proximity to the middle-east and Central Asia. Urdu itself is a Central Asian word.

Respond to this video... It is not just the poetry it is the vocabulary, A Persian would probably understand more of a Urdu news cast than a Hindi speaking person. Urdu does share mundane vocabulary with other South Asian languages but it's sophisticated vocabulary comes from Persian and Arabic.

Urdu comes from Persia/ Arabic and when Islam came to India a new language, Urdu, was born. a mix of different language.....example 'Asman', sounds the same in Persian and Urdu.

urdu is not a language at all. its just a mix of hindi with some extra persian and arabic words. The entire grammar of urdu is based on sanskrit. Thats why iranians and arabs cannot understand urdu. But then why it is written in arabic script? Its nothing but a mongrel language, confused about its ancestors.
That is the reason urdu is dead in India. No one speaks urdu, and even the muslims read and write in devnagri rather than urdu script.
