  • The first No1 in britain in 1952 . I remember it well ..

  • this song was very popular the year I was born. It is beautiful. The orchestration is so lost these days. Rarely do we hear something like this.

  • Not only Number 1 for 9 weeks from November 1952 in the UK but the very FIRST number 1 in the record selling charts although not this particular version by Al.You Belong To Me by Jo Stafford followed it up as the 2nd Number 1 , 2 great records to start the chart history !.

  • Just discovered that this was No 1 in he week I was born.... I had heard the song before but had no idea of it's "providence" !!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful song and great voice! Love this music and time.

  • I'm now 75 and boy am I glad I was born in 1936, even the wartime evokes times of memorial music, that was music, not only to be listened to, but to dance to.

This song belonged to Al Martino, just like Unforgetable was Nat King Coles Song, this was a time of romance and living, in the big band era.

We had flick knives and threw them at trees, thanks for uploading this music, to repeat this will always be Al Martino's song, and iut surely will be always mine.

  • number 1 in the 1st uk charts in 1952, in 2011 I like this song xxxx

  • Great talent and song,,anyone who enjoys this might also like John Gary,,RWB

  • @rwb010109 : John Gary's "In My Own Quiet Way" was a great recording. So, I agree.

  • 1952 in Stereo?

  • he is the best. better than frank , pav, and the rest..

  • This song evokes memories of a time long ago..When we were young, and life seemed as if it would go on forever. La dolce vita

  • WONDERFUL!!!!

  • this song and his voice just grabs your soul right out! ohhh!! so magnificent!

  • Just listened to this again. What a clean clear post this is. Thanks so much..

  • Extraordinary talent, extraordinary voice. Martino and Eddie Fisher were from the same South Philly neighborhood and roomed together in New York as they tried to break into the biz. Both have sadly passed away within the past year. What a loss.

  • Awesome Possum!!!! So blessed to have seen him in concert twice back in the 90's. Sometimes I wonder if even he appreciated how wonderful it was to have a full orchestra with a real string section to back him up...wish I had known how to speak (and write) Italian...at the time his music arranger told me he was looking for Italian songs...Tunesmith

  • What an incredible voice....so powerful and yet gentle.

  • Very nice, Al Martino had a great voice.
