The main difference between Ron and the other candidates, is that his campaign is the first I've ever seen that wasn't a cult of personality. NOT quite. A South African Kuggerand, which weighs exactly 1 troy ounce would also be legal tender if Paul had his way. A lump of gold in no particular shape would also be legal currency, if Paul had his way.

Precisely how it works, you apparently don't.

The reason gold is the perfect money is that it's rare, it doesn't chemically react, and it's easily divisible making it very easy to cut it up into denominations.

The only reason the governments have been traditionally involved in minting coins to to assure that they have standard weights - no other reason.

I'm somewhat skeptical about the gold standard Paul is proposing. I certainly don't see it coming about within a short period of time.

On the other hand, the moment the budget becomes balanced and brakes are applied to gov't spending, just this alone would do a lot to help things.

part of the reason we pioneered medicine and made it so cheap is because of NO government intervention. Its easy to throw money at a problem, and at least when the bill comes due your country is actually exporting something. Here it will mean higher taxes, or an even weaker dollar, something I think very few can afford..

Ok to begin I should have started my 1st comment with NO, Now that's done, I would like to add that I recall having to go to the hospital once when I was really broke. If it wasn't for our Government Health Care I would have not been able to afford the bill. It seeems as if the plan you are working on only benefits the rich. Like I said I'm glad I live in Canada and not the U.S. Good thing my grandmother saw fit to move from Manhatten and come here. :)
