GEEZZZZZZZ, GUYS! We're all here to have fun and listen to greast music. What you are or where you or your ancestors came from has nothing to do with anything!
IT'S THE HERE NOW! ("KISS") ["Keep it simple, silly.") Oh, by the way, I play my pipes in my underwear sometimes, haven't tried it naked yet but maybe in some public place when I'm 90!.
Video extracts of the Pipes and Drums of (what is now) the Royal Regiment of Scotland with Isla St Clair and still photos of American Pipe Bands. Have a look at the real clip, search for Isla St Clair. Many Scots were driven from their homeland in the Highland Clearances over the sea to America. Their descendants remain loyal to the country of their forefathers. If a cat has kittens in the dog kennel are they Pups???
@cd1690 As far as I am aware dogs and cats are a different species. Americans and Scots are not. I suppose it comes down to whether you would fight and die (or live) for Scotland or America? I am British, and live in Austria. I would fight and die for Austria against Britain. That is why I am taking Austrian citizenship.
@ElBundz EXACTLY!!! Dogs and cats ARE different species so if the cat has kittens in the dog kennel they cannot be pups. If an emigrated scot has children abroad they are still scots. No matter where I live in the world I retain my nationality and heritage, a piece of paper may give me citizenship but won't change my heritage. I suppose it's a personal choice and it's fantastic that we are free to exercise that choice.
@samuself Well, if Britain fought America, you can imagine what side these 'Scotsmen' would fight on. As to being a traitor, it is not me that destroyed the standard of living in Britain. If I can't earn a decent wage for a decent day's work, it's not me that's the traitor.
These Americans are proud of their past, we cant link all directly back to Scotland or Ireland. It's guys like these that fought in WWI and II that LET you remain Scotish and Irish. Best let them wear what they want. There is blood in there for you. They give it proudly.
@kingdomofdalriada Wow... you sir are a fool. The reason we entered WW2 so late was because it was not popular. Not because we didn't want to help. We had been sending lots of supplies to aid your cause long before we entered the war. Pearl harbor was the excuse our president at the time used to enter the war.
They should have the scottish flag, not our tri colour. They can march with the irish war pipes at least.... only in america lmao. I can understand northern ireland and highland pipes... but i dnt believe for a second those americans thought of that.
Yes most but not all, I for one do I make it a point to learn all the history I can about the GHB and I make sure to play piobaireachd because you cant be a real piper unless you play it. By the way you forgot Cornwall in your locations as well as the Isle of Mann.
I pipe, and I am Scots. I used to dislike the Irish dressed and piping dressed as Scots, but after what the pipers of the FDNY went through after 9-11, I will not ever feel that way again. If the Emerald Society wants to wear the kilt and pipe, I'm proud to see them do it. God bless those boys for everything they did
Anyone who participates in Scottish cultural activities is Scottish despite location. I was made in American with Scottish parts. Many of the best bagpipers I know are not even Scottish. My pipe teacher is of Manx ancestry, he was born in Texas and he owns on pipes. While there are many ignorant Americans when it comes to Scottish Culture not all of us are. I personally make an effort to learn the history and folklore of many tunes I know how to play, including Piobaireachd.
Highlandpiper you are not scottish, stop calling yourself a scot, where do you foriegners get the sheer audacity to intrude onto our identity and then fucking have the cheek to lecture us on our own fucking culture.
You are not scottish, we scots will say who is scottish or not, and I know for a fact that you will never be considered as scottish.
bagpipes is hardly a scottish cultural activity anyway. it is merely a tradition that is not practiced by the majority of scots.
"We Scots"? Who elected you king of the Scots? As for my "audacity" besides my friends who are Scottish from Scotland in fact say I am Scottish. What is so wrong about loving the land where my ancestors came from? Why can I not read about Scotland and learn my family's history. What is so wrong about keeping that history alive? Yes you are correct about piping not originating in Scotland. The Romans brought them to the British Isles however the Scots perfected the art of piping.
So unless you are a descendant of the house of Stewart or in charge of any kind of organization that tries to ban the descendants of Scots in abroad nations from practicing their heritage you may politely fuck off. By the way I am quite positive my ancestors left because of wankers like you. As much as I love Scotland I will gladly stay here in the US where I can have free speech, private gun ownership and enjoy life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Enjoy your socialist paradise
@HighlandPiper1485 I've only been to America once and was impressed and pleased how many people I met were proud of their scottish ancestry maintaining close links with the country of their ancestors etc. I was also surprised to find things like 7 of the founding states were governed by scots! Something we native scots should be proud of too. The only true Americans are the Native Americans the rest are American/somethingelse e.g. American/Irish, Americ/Scots, American/German and so on.
I recall the song from the history channel video "Bagpipe - Instrument of War" which is truly an awesome video. This song speaks volumes to those who know the fire that bagpipes set in the soul. Thanks for posting this. -Baronet Garth
The Water is Wide has a similar musical score, but has some differences. When the Pipers Play is a newer tune. Both are fantastic and I play them both. This one has more power to me, as I place this song as a tribute to our brave military heroes.
The Water is Wide is actually a hymn tune, the tunes do have differences but alot of people seem to get confused and sing them to either tune anyway!! X

We Americans like to wear short-sleeved shirts and baseball caps when we play the pipes.
Have you heard the latest American pipe tune, "Wankers Hae Wi' Wankers Bled"?

Excuse me you fucking idiot. The Americans did not enter world war 2 for the benefit of the British or any other euorpean country.
The Americasn only entered the war after pearl harbour was bombed and germany initiated an attack on them and declared war on the USA.
I'll also remind you that thousands of british soldiers are dying fighting for your fucking country in afghanistan and iraq.
Do they teach history in American schools ?
