  • this is genious

all type of sounds floating in the air

fuckin strange to funny to beautiful

  • Fruciante should stick to what he knows best... Shooting heroin. Fuck RHCP abother talentless band that re-hashes the same bullshit songs album after album... Frank Zappa is a god, these hacks are corporate cocksuckers.

  • @CBrusich Listen to The Empyrean. Stick to what you know best, passing poor judgements behind the safety of your computer screen. What have you done with your life?

  • @CBrusich "same bullshit songs?" listen to uplift mofo party plan, then bssm, then by the way, then stadium arcadium, after you're done cleaning the cum off your face from the total mindfuck of awesomeness you hear lemme know which songs are "repeated" don't talk shit about Frusciante, I guarantee any artist will testify to his greatness and contributions to music, Zappa is sick, Frusciante is sick (WAY sicker in my opinion) but that's me, you don't see me going on Zappa vids talking shit

  • And you're some idiot on YouTube that needs to pull the pole out of his ass. Relax and enjoy the music. If you don't like this music, go listen to Frank Zappa or whatever else you like.

  • Soo bullshit!

  • What a fuck is this shit???!?!?!?

  • my first reaction was - DAFUQ WAS THAT??

  • Looks like Flea`s arm was fucked up and this cover gave him time for a massage.

  • Hey stupid fucks-quit arguing about whose country sucks more-they all do, and they all have assholes but also wonderful people in them-you two are among the former though. Nobody's country is so fucking exceptional, so get over yourselves-attitudes like yours are why humanity tolerates the obscenity of war. What a couple of stupid, flag waving, nationalistic twats. Your idiocy is inappropriate anywhere, but particularly on a Zappa vid.

  • Did the Indians first on the bill carve up her hill???

  • @toneshards Because I said something about greenday and nickleback right? well who cares, your old

  • fuck frank zappa

  • @JN5B11 . Fuck You

  • @shedendboy1 no thanks, i'll let your mom do that

  • @JN5B11, At least i have a Mum, Fathers day must be very confusing in your house, YOU SCOUSE CUNT

  • @shedendboy1 lol funny coming from a british fuck like you knowing everyone on your shitty land is incest

  • @JN5B11. I Have been to your shitty country, Full of fat fucks, Living on Junk food, Who are all married to there cousin, You could not get more inbred, Than a Yank. It must hurt you, That every other town or City is Named after a English place, And you have to speak English as well, Stick that up your star spangled banner.

  • @shedendboy1 your thinking of england that likes to fuck their siblings. I've been to your shitty cloudy country as well. The people are ugly, foods disgusting, shitty music so you'll listen to our music anyway you dumb fuck like frank zappa. Who won the revolutionary war by the way chode.

  • @JN5B11 @shedendboy1 How fucking childish can you actually get?

  • Boo!

  • that was awful and he should feel awful for doing that.

  • Haven't gone back past the first page so I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out but John was just ad libbing the Zappa piece into the set 2 pass some time because Flea's fretting hand was cramping up & he couldn't play. He's off 2 the side getting his forearm massaged.

Don't know if any of you have ever experienced having ur fingers just clamp up so hard U have to use your other hand 2 pull them straight again but it's very painful & all these people paid money to hear this show.

  • If in the tittle wasn`t "Inca Roads (Frank Zappa)" Everybody going to love it.

    But, people is just stupid.

John is amazing, he did a FORTY second version. That`s why i love him. And his version is strongly different! Stop criticizing for nonesence things! Frank is aweome, and John is the best guitar player alive.

  • I didn't think it was that bad, but he skipped the two quintuplets and septuplet at the end of the first phrase.

  • @LONGLIVEINGROCKER he was asked to play in zappa's band he does respect the music alot but i just think he's just having a good time with it

  • @willybumbum35 He was NOT asked to join Zappa's band. He thought about auditioning, but didn't. He NEVER would have got the gig.....

  • @Serpchit

john was asked to join zappa's band, he refused cuz he had to be drug free

  • @canibaldance I don't know where you heard that, he has nowhere near enough talent or the technical chops to cut it in Zappa's band. It's kind of insulting.....

  • @Serpchit Not really. Considering that by the age of 17 he was already quite renowned for being an extremely skilled and creative guitarist, and having studied guitar about 15 hours a day since age 9 or something, it shouldn't come as a surprise. IF you listen to his first two albums, you'll hear a lot of Zappa potential. He chose not to play with FZ band though, which was his decision and although it may seem disrespectful to the band,I think it was eventually better than playing a gig he hated

  • @TehSorso bollocks! ir's well documented fz wouldn'nt have this dope-addled a,h. in his employ

  • lol at all the haters. most of frank zappa's music is a joke (in the good sense) and i doubt he would care how good this performance was.

  • @LfunkeyA His music isn't a joke...his lyrics were (intentionally). His music is freaking amazing!

  • @12toedfeet

a lot of his music is also an intentional joke. some of his compositions are very cheesy and hilarious.

  • you got to be a shittard to ever say that a cover can be disrespectful. John Frusciante covered this sincerely without trying to copy Frank Zappa, which is the most important thing

  • @TehSorso I guess the disrespectful part comes in when the guy says "This is the only frank zappa song I allow to exist"

  • @assfacedfucker But that was not Frusciante, that was stupid-ass Kiedis (he was stupid, at least in those days). I don't imagine Frusciante took that remark easily, either.

  • @TehSorso Oh I know It was not Frusciante, I was just saying that is the disrespectful part

  • @assfacedfucker true that!

  • @TehSorso rubbish!. zappa wouldn'nt touch him because he was a dope-head,,, so this was his pathetic reply,,,

  • @geoffreyprime Hello geoffreyprime!

I'm not going to start an argument over this, because things are far from "well documented". I think John is a very respectful and humble guy, and would never disrespect Zappa or his band. For all I know, John did not want to be in Zappa's band, and it came as a last minute's decision, but he still had a lot of sympathy for the man's music. Zappa was also an important influence in John's guitar playing, and you can hear it more on his solo albums.

    Peace!

  • horrible, and I am a fan of the Chili Peppers. I understand that this is supposed to be a loving tribute to Zappa (as Frusciante is an admitted Zappa fan), but this is a horrible cover of that song! I don't understand anything John's supposed to be singing, and I've heard and love the original.

  • like i needed another reason to dislike this overrated bunch of testosterone filled shite!

  • Is this supposed to be payback for Frank givin' him the boot 'cause of John's little drug problem? I'm not sure I get the joke, to be frank.

  • @mackeymkay

He was never in that band.

He thought of auditioning but chose not to.

  • no one should defend this it is horrible

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • asshole!

  • I love john and all, but this was fucking disgraceful

  • What the fuck is this? Everyone dissing on John... He is one of the most talented and soulful musicians of the world these days...

I see this like a a tribute and I don't think no one was making fun or disrespecting anyone here...

  • what the fuck. i just lost complete respect for anthony after watching this. frank zappa made amazing music. fuck you anthony, you shouldn't exist for saying that!

  • @reedmcdonald Well if you listen to how he said it, it kind of sounds like it was the first thing he could think of at that moment. Im sure he loves Zappa as much as anyone. Crazy times back then.

  • I think I need a massage too...

  • The only Frank Zappa song he allows to exist LOL, but what the fuck ..

  • WTF !!

  • come on that's funny dont take it seriously

  • I'd take RHCP over Zappa any day.

  • Better than the original

  • @TSHNOFX Noooooooooooooooooooo!

Franks version is better far better.

  • @TSHNOFX

    Try harder next time, troll.

  • @senna01 Wasn't trolling. I legitimately dislike Zappa. Do I think he sucks? No, but do I dislike him? Yes.

  • fuck you guys chilis rule!!!

  • @alexmoznik777 No! JOHN FRUSCIANTE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rotedrachen they all rule! john is my favorite though.

  • @alexmoznik777 nah...................just john.

  • wat the fuk was that?! somebody send this to dweezil haha

  • what an anti drugs advert

  • i dont think this is a coer...its more like an ironic parody :))

  • @nemogre I don't think.

  • @nemogre This is a cover.Inca Roads is by the Great Genius called Frank Zappa!

  • fuck rhcp

  • I love Frusciante, but this is a joke!

  • so cool

  • In 300 years RHCP will have evaporated from all time, but FZ will be recognized as one of the main musical forces of our time.

  • @curiousnomad ah no matey

  • "this is the only frank zappa song i allow to exist." -anthony kedis AKA captain douchebag

  • This is just embarrassingly bad - it made me wince.

  • @anivegmin

    fuck you

  • i thought this was part of the "shreds" series for a second

  • I love Zappa, but this is just bad....

  • I gave this a 5 star rating! it is fucking beautiful! I love John Frusciante and I love Frank Zappa!

  • This is the only Frank Zappa song...

  • go easy on the critizism i dont think at that particular moment that he was playing to impress, he just got his vocals on the system he was probably fucking around/loosening-warming up.

  • @Kurty451 like when he sang tiny dancer, they're just jammin/muckin around

  • @haza942 I couldn't concure more, dido on tiny dancer

  • ha ha ha

    flea look so tired..........!

  • I really think, at that time, frusciante was able to play the piece flowing and without mistakes. but because he played it without watching while singing it sounds really sloppy.

  • I would have crapped myself if I'd seen that live. So not expecting John to know those passages from Inca. Then again I heard he wanted to tryout for or "did" tryout for Frank's 1988 band.

As far as Flea getting a rubdown, the guy plays hard and they were probably on tour for awhile so the muscles need a bit of love now and again.

    Thanks for posting.

  • hmm.... bangin chics from HBG keedo? u suck...no wonder u dint get back till fro agreed...putz

  • This is fucking horrible. A disgrace to Frank Zappas name

  • hey did you know that you suck dick?

  • Yes, I'm quite aware that being able to notice that Mr Frusicante is in no way playing tightly or correctly, or singing in tune, reveals the fact that i fellate men.

  • maybe thats why you fellate men, you don`t have the creative sense to do something cool

  • Look below, I'm in a Zappa covers band myself and on a Music Technology course involving a lot of contemporary composition and composition and sound design for film. I'm also currently writing a solo EP.

    So I'm not creative ey?

  • you can show a monkey how to squeeze oranges to make juice, btu doesn`t mean it`s good... dude it doesn`t matter what school your father sent you to, or what classes you take, if you don`t have that creative spirit you might as well forget it...just look at Joe Satriani...all style no substance

  • I agree on the Satriani point, but that also applies to this video, theres no style or substance! As for my music, you cant really judge, having not heard it. The point is, that i am creative.

  • well man, I've seen the Peppers play 7 times, and each and every time, John Frusciante totally killed it and sent my ass back home with such colors and shapes in my mind, and after the 7th show, I thought to myself 'maybe he IS God' it's also a live situation, don't know if you play live or whatnot, but it's a completely different ballgame, and he's singing too, playing these complex riffs. plus john was 19 in this vid...cut the kid some slack! at least we agree about Satriani:)

  • Im not denying that Chillis are awesome, i love BSSM. And yeah i have played live plenty times. All im saying is, he should have realised how difficult it is to sing and play and how slack he did it in rehearsal, and he just shouldnt have bothered!

  • Eh, I agree with the whole style and substance thing with this and Satriani, but I hate bullshit excuses for giving shitty live performances. Ooo, singing and playing complex things at the same time. Good bands are good live. Mr. Bungle didn't fuck up live, Frank Zappa didn't sound like shit live.

  • @thekidwiththefa John Frusciante is amazing live, he was offered a spot in Frank Zappa's band but declined, this is his ego shining through in the 1990's, he was still new to being a "rock star" and he has to keep his "I don't give a fuck" mentality. I'm sure he can play it/sing it today no problem. The band didn't find their grove until the next album really, this whole era is living and playing ego.

I'm defending the man because today he is the greatest guitar player of our generation.

  • @Stealth401 Yeah, that's an old comment. I think I really began to appreciate Frusicante's work when I listened to some of his solo stuff. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's the greatest guitar player of our generation, but he is great.

  • Sorry bout a cover band isn't that creative at all?

  • You havnt heard my cover band. We dont just play the songs, we interpret some parts onto different instruments and link songs in unique ways and sometimes interject with other things. it takes a lot of planning.

  • i agree he did a bad job, but it actually is freaking hard to play guitar and sing at the same time, not to mention with such a difficult song like this one, it would have been pretty nice to see the whole band do a cover of it, it would have been heavy work, especially for the drummer

  • Agreed. He shouldnt have tried singing it at the same time.

Im in a zappa covers band an we will be giving this a go sometime after xmas. If we get a recording, i will post it here!

  • What he said.

  • lol flea is getting a massage :P

  • I want to know why this video isn't 5 stars.

That's incredible guitar playing and singing....And i'm aware that some people are very close minded when it comes to Zappa's music.. tsk tsk

  • 20 years from now Zappa's compositions will be a staple in university and that like that of Mozart will be recognized for his genius. It doesn't matter what these guys do off stage, but when they go onstage and show such disrespect to a well respected composer/musician such as Frank...well, just goes to show you their lack of character and understanding. Uncultured little dweebles.

  • Aha ha.. ha... Frusciante... uncultured.....

    BAHAHAHAHHAHAH

Seriously dude, you have to learn to respect interpretations of a piece of music. Zappa was a huge influence on Frusciante in his early days; this is his homage to him.

Frusciante doesn't play like a technique extreme virtuoso, there is sloppiness in his playing (back then at least).

There is as much respect and admiration for Inca Roads in this interpretation as in any polished note-for-note version.

  • WOW you certainly don't seem to grasp this very well. If this isn't a mock of Zappa then then its something worse. And if this just an interpretation then it is shameful to Frusciante himself (his use of drugs?) regardless of the Zappa influence had on him; this doesn't reflect anything close to Zappa

This is no way to show respect unless you one is impaired. It seems it's quite clear to me this not the case, so it is obvious you are the one impaired.

    This simple is unacceptable.

  • I'm sorry you're taking this so hard, but you still have a lot to learn about art.

It's important to understand how drastic different styles can be, and how strange a piece can sound when it's interpreted by the opposite end of the spectrum.

Especially when it's a song you hold dear, it can be particularity painful (as I assume you are experiencing).

I suggest you look into Frusciante's material some before you stand by your comment.

I won't be responding to further comments,

    Thanks.

  • @amart7

this was just a joke cover actually, obviously

  • @amart7 NO!!! You're WRONG!!! Music is not about creativity, music is about strict rules and regulations, otherwise we would end up like a bunch of hippies just playing whatever pops into our head... Is that what you want???

  • @leirgauk

Congratulations pal that was the dumbest thing I've ever read.

  • @MasterrFlamaster That's amazing that you couldn't depict sarcasm from the phrase "music is not about creativity, music is about strict rules and regulations", buddy! :D

  • @leirgauk

    Oh that was sarcasm?

Sorry pal I didn't follow your argue I thought it was serious ;)

    Sorry, my bad.

  • Don't get all butt hurt about it. You're incredibly close minded sir.

  • they actually are quite respected in Europe, some scholars already consider it classical gems

  • haha this is a good effort, quite funny

though whoever said it sounds exactly the same as the original is an idiot

john is absolutely amazing but frank and everyone in his band were musical prodigies

  • I'm so glad john did not join zappa's band. Zappa is good, but john belongs in the RHCP and was meant for the RHCP. The original version sounds the same so I really do not understand these lame complaints. i would have recommended john to lower the distortion and volume but it still kicks ass, I like it.

  • you are so wrong, you need to listen to more types of music and a little less popular stuff too

  • hey could somone help me and tell me why anthony said "this is theo nly frank zappa song i allow to exist" does this mean his implying he doesnt like it?

  • I don´t think he was serious. looked like he was havin´a laugh.

  • Check out my attempt at this song!

  • just showed themselves up for what they really are, TOTALLY INCOMPITENT TRASH.

  • This is disgraceful. I'm not sure to whom its worse...RHCP or Zappa.....

it looks like they had to take a break though...flea was getting an emergency massage done on stage - maybe a breather? either way, don't fill the space with a crappy rendition of Inca Roads. This is probably when frusciante's teeth started falling out. The Zappa Gods took this personally.

  • He didn't attend the final tryout. He showed up,but left before actually auditioning. If a tryout is considered 'being offered the job', then, yes, he and many others were 'offered the job'. If, as a musician, you choose to just do drugs, and play shitty music, you are, what is known as, 'a shitty musician'. Any one with a brain would give up drugs to play music with Zappa, if actually chosen that is. And if they actually care about the shit they put into the mainstream. RHCP suck indefatigably.

  • i have to disagree with you completely on what you said. we agree with what you said when it comes to playing shitty music but fuck off. john isn't a technical master or anything like steve vai nor does he play really any crazy cool licks etc but hell man he is dedicated to what he does and can write some pretty mean guitar to Anthony's melodies. And you cannot compare RHCP to ZAPPA so different. one is bone crushing mayhem funk and the other is just super awesome, both r great!

  • actually, Anthony creates the lyrics off of John's melodies. Thats what the band said in one of the interviews.

in that case, John is even more amazing

  • so what if he did that, that doesn't make hime a shitty musician. He was only 18 at the time, he's a completely different person now. So by your logic is Hendrix a shitty musican? is Kurt Cobain a shitty musican? are countless amazing jazz players shitty musicians. I think not. RHCP definately do not suck. They've developed and changed lot since they began yet still kept and gained fans. Just becuase you don't like them doesn't mean that they suck.

  • RHCP is good and all, but Frank Zappa is an absolute genius.

  • @Pittsburghfan0621

Frank Zappa is an absolute genius, true, but so are John Frusciante and Flea.

  • @Pittsburghfan0621 other way around

  • @Pittsburghfan0621 In your opinion. In my opinion they're both absolute genius. I actualy prefer rhcp.

  • zappa dominates rhcp

  • suck on my penis.

the chili peppers are musical genius. im not saying zappa isnt great as well but never compare the chilis with somebody like that.

  • Before frusciante joined rhcp he had a chance to play in zappa band instead steve vai, but zappa doesn't allowed to take drugs in his band so john decided to join rhcp

  • Nice try. Jesus what a noob. It takes some more skills to play Zappa's music. This is pathetic and 'specially what that foolish leadsinger says.

  • What a cunt..

  • jesus christ anthony is such a fucking stupid prick... he himself barely exists beside zappa

  • Does Flea have tendonitis or a Repetitive Strain Injury? I've never seen someone getting their arm massaged on stage before.

  • Sure he had the chance to audition, but I doubt he would have made it. Sure he's great and all, but I hardly doubt he would've made it. This bit here is pretty crappy, but at least John has excellent influence and whatnot.

  • No, he was offered the job, at the same time as the chili peppers. He declined due to Zappa's straight edge policy

  • This is Frusciante, not "Frusicante" X-D

  • come on. why does everybody gotta hate. frusciante is a phenomenal guitar player. frank zappa is a musical genius however and this is his song. im not gonna knock frusciante like everyone else cuz the fact that he digs zappa makes him cool with me. but again this song is and remains frank zappas. haha

  • precisely...

not actually the mothers then though...

but frank zappa's band at the time

  • this is awful, and kiedis is a whore for saying that's "the only zappa song he allows to exsist". but in case some of you have never even seen one of zappa's live shows, even on DVD, frusicante can play very similar to him. that's exactly something you would see at a zappa show, possibly on a different instrument. He could have easily made it in zappa's band, he is a better musician than most of you if not all of you guys, most of you probably don't even play an instrument and never could.

  • easily made it in? steve vai barely made it in what makes you think john could have gone in easy

  • because he chose not to join the mothers...

    maybe..

might have something to do with it

  • well he was only 5 when the mother where actually still active

  • He needs more bass end in his tone.

  • The only Frank Zappa song I allow to exist.

    ...

    Now that's funny.

What's funnier is Fruciante horribly butchering it. None of them could play Zappa.

  • why did he say that? does he not like frank zappa?

  • zappa is musical genius. frusicante is a hack. your right none of those other "musicians" will come even close to zappa.

  • Fruciante Went to audition for Zappa band in 88, but pulled out when he heard of Zappa's no drugs policy!

  • no ps según él

  • Perfect example of one of the dumbest posts on youtube comments.

  • because when you play less notes, you put more emotion into each notes. when you're sweep picking and tapping, how much energy and emotion are you really putting into each of those notes? granted, it could be a lot; however, it doesn't really sound like it, IMO. it's not my cup of tea. watch some frusciante live solos, he seems to let lose more live. i'll leave it up to someone else to reccomend you songs, i've nearly ran out of space with this comment.

  • its awsome and pretty funny how anthony is so cocky. but we love him.

  • on ruth.. on ruth.. ha huha.. on ruth.. mother fucker!!! FZ R.I.P.

  • Fuck I miss Frank. He had to check out much to early.

  • Terrible

  • wrong my friend. if you can't hear the emotin in zappas work you are deaf to emotion. i luv jf but at that time he was not mature enough nor talented enough to play with zappa. and wat is that dude doin to fleas arm?

  • flea got cramp during that show and so the guy had to come on a couple of times to help relax and massage the muscles in the lower arm. if u watch at the end of the JF Tiny Dancer video from this show u can see flea react to his cramp right at the end of it.
