They are not mainstream, they may have some songs played on the radio on occasion and so on, but none of the mainstream audience really "listens" to The Silversun Pickups, it's way too much talent for an avid mainstream listener to comprehend. Mainstream music is just noise, for people that don't want to get into lyrics and guitar work etc, mainstream is lazy, for lazy people, the Silversun Pickups are far from lazy, I'd say they work harder than almost any other band around today.
As long as they don't let the powers that be degrade their music they will be fine it's when a musicians a slave to their record label's agenda that their art turns to shit.
if they wanna go mainstream thats their choice we cant do nothing but support them in their choice its gonna happen sooner or later. and i think its gonna happen in maybe a year or two. so just support them cuz i think their gonna wanna be more famous than they r now. u kno make more money be better off their not gonna change the way they play their music. ok first of all, coldplay stole a song from joe satriani... are you really gonna sit here and pretend that's ok? Listen to satriani's if i could fly and tell me the assholes didnt steal it from him. They wouldn't even talk to him when he tried to call them about it.... they stole from him and then wouldn't own up to it. it takes a real character to steal from someone like that.... COLDPLAY SUCKS for being SONG STEALERS.

saw them live. it was highly enjoyable. they sounded great and were genuinely having a great time with the audience and each other. it was surprising that his voice was even more helium-like live, but they are a solid, professional band who care about their craft. after the show I bought the carnavas vinyl.
check out "Kissing Familes" - a great song off their EP Pikul - totally worth it.
God I love this song, and I don't really think they're going main stream; most people I know I still haven't even heard of them. And besides, they are much more talented and unique then poser bands like Hinder and Saving Abel.
