Hogan was perfectly capable of selling a chokeslam - he proved that later on in this exact same match, when Taker hit the chokeslam a second time. Most likely, Hogan sandbagged the first jump to save himself for the second jump, on account of his bad knees. Hogan "not being able to sell properly" had nothing to do with it.
