The Z-5500 aren't good when it comes to listening music. The best logitech speakers ever made until now are the Z-2300.

@MrStijngevaert I've got both. Partly, that's right, but my setup is bad. I don't have much space, and they're all set at a straight line, so I don't really experience 5.1 surround. Z-2300 are stereo speakers, so they work great. They give out stereo their stereo feeling. But that doesn't happen with the 5500. As I said, my setup isn't the one it should be. And that's what most people do.

The woofer is obviously going to rattle and make funny vibrating noises if its turned up to that sound level. Judging by the speaker excursion rate, I don't think any woofer would sound smooth and not make a rattling/cracking noise, if its played at that volume. No matter how good a make it is. Other reasons could be frequency response mismatch, signal to noise ratio, impedance, Line out volume level vs speaker volume level, etc.

This is good example for WHAT NOT TO DO with this powerful speakersystem. That snare-sound that you hear at the beginning of the video comes from the coil slamming against the magnet. This kills the sub as this will cause deformation of the coil. This results in a scratchy sound of the speaker.

There is a simple rule to this: never push a sub to the max.

I realize im a bit late to the party but that sub is not "blown" in any way.

The noise was the voice coil bottoming out. A blow sub has a melted coil and does not function. This is not the same as a torn surround, and certainly isnt the same as the sound shown in this video (bottoming out).

Blown = does not produce sound. If it still works, its not blown.

These things really aren't that good... Sure for a computer system they are good, but people don't seem to use them entirely for that. If your going to run them like car subs, I suggest selling these and buying a REAL sub. One that weighs 20+ pounds, not 4 pounds. :P

For computer subs though, these aren't too bad. There fine if you actually use them correctly.
