It is sad indeed. I believe that what Arthas did was a sacrifice, and that, as they said, controled the scourge in a way, to prevent total anihilation. But the Lich king turned out to be stronger than him. Arthas was EPIC! He should heve stayed alive. :(

Arthas had to die in order WoW to continue, just like Illidan, KJ, Deathwing and so on.. all of the major lore thats left is about the titans and the old gods. MoP is just a delay of the story and minor lore such as the zandalari and pandarens. And if you know a bit of the trolls lore you would know that the zandalari are connected with Hakkar who is connected to the old gods, which means another expansions after MOP,  WC4 = all wow expansions
