  • Why go to geek squad when you have the internet?

  • LIES GEEKSQUAD WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!

  • in bestbuy they are kids playing with computers

  • I am 15 and i can fix a computer every weak

1 dose it have a beep code when you remove the ram

2 if yes then the mobo is working

3 if it cant find the hard drive then look if it IS CONNECTED

Geek Squad is a rip off i can do this in 20 min for free and if its broken you can do it your self for about $70

  • Your a fool for calling Geek Squad useless. Simply because there is one man that misses a loose cord you blame the entire Business? There are 18,000 plus employed under Geek Squad, if your trying to make a claim, I say "Geek Squad Hires Stupid Man" suggests a more accurate opinion.

  • Aside from soldering components onto a motherboard(totally unnecessary unless you REALLY love that motherboard) or removing substrates from a bad hard drive to reclaim the info off of it, 90% of computer repairs and virus removal can be done by the owner with only a little training. DO NOT take your computer to Geek Squad! Learn for yourself and cut out the middle man. Your wallet will be happy you did.

  • I remember my psp screen got fucked up and i had warranty for it.( It was a black piano slim psp)) So i when to best buy to get a new one and the told me that the geek squad guys will give me one. Well apperently the ran out of the black ones but they had the silver one. So i took the offer. When i got it, i was suprised on what i got. It was the psp slim and it was silver but the skin was plastic. It looks like they made the psp -.-

  • Bank robbers admit "they made a mistake" too when they are caught red handed. The only diffrence is they go to jail,

and Geek Squad keeps ripping off the average trusting public!

  • Curcuit city went out of business because they coulden't rip off the average public anywhere near "Geek Thieves."

  • Everytime a local station does a computer investigation Geek Squad flunks and rips off everyone. What shameless scum.

  • ...when money is involved dont always trust the person giving you advice!...

  • some people are dumb and some are smart...it happens....but doesnt mean its all geek squad sucks

  • lol the way the guy was holding the RAM at 2:30 hes lucky he didnt fuck it up even more. DO NOT hold computer components like that. It will short them out

  • @thompson9451 uh, that was not the RAM. it was the case.

  • Buy a Mac

  • My sister wi-fi on her Mac wasn't working because a Safari update changed some of the coding. But after three hours of him trying to figure what was wrong but he took the computer to the back and came back with Ubuntu installed. After he fixed that and the wi-fi we left and told him we weren't paying because he was a complete idiot.

  • @pugzlie18 I'm guessing you didn't authorize him to change your os. I mean heck why would you mac osx is way better than ubuntu.

  • @pugzlie18 if nonoe of this works then check to see that your getting a valid IP address. Ask your ISP about what it should be. They should help you determine it. If it is correct the ISP may still be having issues with their being noise on the line. This is the problem I currently am having with charter.

  • FALSE! Best Buy's statement at the end. CompTIA (A worldwide, vendor neutral IT association that issues certifications) officially teaches in their courses that you have three types of problems. Hardware (The physical pieces, like a hard drive), software (A program you run on the computer), or User caused. They also teach that MOST issues you would come across in your entire life's career are User caused. THAT is why I will NEVER purchase a Geek Squad service.

  • omg these computer are sooo old seriously 0-0

  • Stop arguing about anything sucking. We have youtube tutorials :) and the internet to guide us.

  • As a Geek Squad agent, I find this pretty disappointing. The guy on there obviously wasn't following the standard that is being set. It is a REQUIREMENT that we open the computer up to check for blown capacitors, loose components, unseated ram, ect before we can even check it in. I have done loads of quick fixes like that and don't charge.

  • @cool21967 i wanna get a job there next month when i turn 16 is it hard to get hired there

  • @ModdinMane it's not hard to get hired but i believe you have to be 18 to work at Bestbuy. Check with your local BestBuy, it may be different where you are. Good luck.

    Geeksquad agent since June 2011

  • it's like medicine, you hear hoofbeats you look for horses not zebras. If someone comes in and saids their hard drive isn't booting then you assume it is a problem with the hard drive. You don't think that the customer opens up their case unplugs their cables then brings it in without saying anything. I've never seen a cable unplug itself inside the computer.

  • @FORZION

Although that may be true, one should be able to see from the bios whether they need to check for a loose or unplugged cable. The proper thing to ask the customer is when did it last not boot properly. Or about what time did you see this error message. Knowing what the error message means also helps. A non system disk error means usually there is absolutly no os loaded on the hdd or the hdd is unplugged. Always check for layer 1 and layer 2 issues first. These are very common

  • I seen these over and over again over the years, when people bring computers in for a second opinion. Our company do these simple tak for free.

Incompetent , unethical , greedy . Just want to take advantage to make a quick buck. I also know computer shops fix it by exaggerating their effort and charge a huge sum. This is no mistake.

  • dumbass reporter everyone makes mistakes..

  • I do IT support and I cannot tell you how many Geek Squad fiasco's I've had to fix over the years. I would NEVER recommend that anyone take their PC to them. Now of course every chain is different, but for the most part they are the worst place you can take your PC.

  • If you think geeksquad is a rip off then fix your comp yourself. Like seriously If you know how to fix computers then do it yourself. If not then every place will charge you. Technically if you didn't pay they shouldn't be touching any components inside of your pc because that will make them liable. Videos like this are just so far from accurate. They should rate them on things like service not competency, that's something that will change from store to store.

  • not even a sata drive that was an old pc

  • enough of these Geek Squad Rip off! They should be called Rip-Aquad!

  • So one place got it wrong, big deal.

  • That doesn't mean shit. It's like when you know shit about cars, you go to a garage and they will charge you even if it's a little thing that can be fixed in 2 minutes. It's not everyone that knows how to fix a pc problem. It's not because you can fix it that Geek Squad sucks. Stop being a bitch, you are getting ripped off by your garage anyway and I don't say shit because I don't give a damn. Stop complaning, some people are glad that they have a bestbuy close to them to fix their problems.

  • @Spikes007

You know you've got a point. But it certainly wouldn't hurt some people to do some research on how their hardware works. Although I suppose thats not for everyone. Just like fixing a car is not everyones cup of tea. My point is the more people know, the more power they have. Knowledge protects people from scams. I hope that the computer industry is never as bad as the car business.

  • @Spikes007 Geek Squad sucks! They Destroy my PC. They should be called Rip-Squad.

  • Standard employer policy, if we can tell the customer something that's wrong and have them buy something, do it.

  • best buy scams ipad toch tryes to return it they say that there scamming-

best buy's geek squad says that a computer with unplugged disk drive says that its broken hard drive and virus.

    best buy? nope.

  • TRUTH! geek squad are bunch of wanna be smart people. They don't have degrees, at most technical certificate from for profit schools or bunch of high schools.

  • My cuz works for them. He hated it, so he quit and got a new job because they are rip-off artists.

  • They obviously didn't take the time to look inside the computer, but with no diagnosis fee, i can see how they didn't want to waste time testing. See, if a client comes in and has a no drive detected error, and hasn't messed around with the cables inside, the drive is VERY likely dead. Cables do NOT "disconnect themselves by moving the computer around" as the so called expert in the video suggest, That's bull. How to fix this misunderstanding? Charge diagnosis fee and do proper tests. ..

  • Good job "Darryl Erickson" at teaching your students to not use grounding cables, let alone UNPLUGGING the computer while you're working inside it. What an idiot. Good source there Eyewitness News.

  • best buy scams its customers

  • You guys better give your computers for repair to guys like me.I'm a student who loves computers and I fix them for very cheap comparing to geek squad and other repair shops.I fix computers very well because I'm building reputation and so other computer enthusiast like me.So just go to craiglist or find someone you know and don't bother with those rip offs.

  • dumbasses....if they treated me right with the small problem, I would be happy to bring them my business when I had a real problem

  • You're totally correct. I once paid the "Geek Squad" over $200 (nonrefundable) to diagnose the problem and retrieve data on my laptop. They did nothing but tell me I should get a new computer. STAY AWAY FROM BEST BUY AND THE GEEK SQUAD. THEY'RE WORTHLESS!!!!!

  • what does operating system reloaded mean?

  • I am a computer enthusiast. I had my share of hardware and software problems. I am definitively not as knowledgeable about computer related issues as somebody that repairs them for a living. By that I don't mean a kid with a summer job at a computer shop. Here I would be check if the bios sees the drive and if it wasn't my machine I would check the bios config as well. The next step would be see if the drive works on another machine and at this step I would have noticed the loose connection.

  • I work at Geek Squad, and there is no way we would of missed that. Everytime a unit will not boot into the OS or anything along those lines, we immediately open it up and look for bad motherboard caps as well as making sure the RAM is seated, and other connections. We've never had a loose IDE problem... Probably why it was overlooked. Maybe next time the news station should do an actual real life situation; like virus removal or something along those lines. Not a cable being half way unplugged.

  • @Dizle09 Loose memory? You can imagine memory coming loose, but not an IDE cable? If anything, memory seems be locked in tighter. With a ribbon cable you can just pull it out. With memory they get locked in and you have to unsnap something for them to come loose.

  • @Dizle09 I love how idiots at best buy don't think the hard drive being plugged in is a "Real Life" problem. He is so smart that he over looked the simplest of troubleshooting. Trust this guy everyone he will make sure to over look least evasive solutions and jump right into the hard stuff!!! Nice going you Derp

  • LOL AT THE END OF THE VID WHEN THE STATEMENT WAS READ THEY ADMITTED TO MAKING A MISTAKE SO OKAYYYY WwHATS THE BIG DEAL SOMETIMES HUMAN BEINGS MAKE MISTAKES AND SO ON AND SO ON IT DOESENT MEAN THE GEEK SQUAD IS WORTHLESS LOL WHAT EVER!!!!!!!

  • Why are some people so inexperienced with computers?

  • Comment removed

  • "It could mean the operating system reloaded" What manager was on drugs when they gave that guy a job?

  • Fix your own computer and avoid crazy costs for one price, learn to setup wifi, remove viruses with/without software, diagnose hardware PC components, facory resets and remove windows passwords adn much more!!!:

    bit. ly/qtSH4k (no spaces)

  • Like a lot of inexperienced people in this field, the guys at Geek Squad went straight in to the deep end without even considering the basics.

You get what you pay for and in retail they tend not to pay that well compared to other businesses so I'm not surprised to here the ridiculous diagnosis's that some people came up with.

  • you can hold all of geek squad for one shitty store. I work at geek squad and everyone working there is very knowledgeable and pros at what we do. We open every tower PC we get and check all connections.

  • I just turned my Dell inspiron 531 to geek squad and the repair was 300 bucks

  • Sadly what people are saying in the comments is true. The average geek squad tech is no more a tech than the blue shirts on the PC sales floor. Their main job is to sell services and replacement parts. Even if the agent behind the counter has an idea of whats wrong they generally aren't allowed to diagnose and fix it without charging a fee, unless it is under Black Tie still, then it's free. This isn't their fault however, mainly the management and their constant quest for more profit.

  • In response to this video... the store agents don't fix computers. They send them to the repair centers. The only thing the store agents are there for is to sell computers and pretend they know things.

  • Comment removed

  • @glponutube ok so should i take my ps3 to sony or geeksquad?

  • @TheAdobe511 I fixed it myself. You should probably take it to sony.

  • @glponutube how did u fix it?

  • @TheAdobe511 It was a computer, not a Xbox. I opened it up and troubleshooted.

  • What I would of done to test all the computer repair companies is to go into the computer system bios settings and turn off the boot up from hard drive which would have the same problem as the video but without the loose cable

  • I agree that Geek Squad is not worth it. I had to use it and they could not only not help, but wanted extra money to either to go on the internet, but to come out to check out the computer out What am I paying them for?.

  • I remember when my brother bought his first laptop, said he wanted to do some light-medium gaming to the GS tech guy at best buy.

The tech recommended a laptop with an intel GPU.

    AN INTEL GPU.

    *facepalm*

  • they only want to make the sale and rip you off never go to them there idiots and rip-offs i did something like this... a test sorta and they told me that my graphics card was done and i should buy a new one for 200$. i really only unplugged the PCIE power connectors i'm young and i out smarted some twice my age. be warned they know nothing but the sale

  • Geek Squad is FAKE cause friend mind said they put junk in your shyt

  • The guy talking about the "operating system reloaded" just cracks me the fuck up.

  • when it comes to computer repair corporate sucks ass

  • IDE cables just don't unplug themselves. They looked at logical options.

  • Interesting, I rebuilt an old hp computer, after I go into the BIOS to tweak a few settings it reports the OS hard drive was not found. Solution was to just reboot the computer X D

  • derp derp derrrp durp durp

  • if you go to the chat support at the website every single time you ask about a problem, they will say its broken, and to buy a new one.

  • They stole my side panel and deleted my administrator account to run a boot-up diagnostic. This was about a week before their store started displaying the sign asking for passwords. The house flooded. It was a hardware problem that a five year old could diagnose, I just wanted the new sound card(only permenant damage), but they told me I'd have to replace the motherboard and that they weren't liable for the data recovery.

  • eN MEXICO SI OFRECEN UNA REAL SOLUCION Y SI REPARAN, EN E.U.A SOLO SON CAMBIA PIEZAS

  • I love geek squad they bring me more business by either screwing things up or over charging... I even tell people to go there just so they can compare... Keep sucking geek squad I love you for it!

  • OMFG daz so fucked up how all da otha small places got the problem n the one store that didnt get it wuz a place i wanna work for. :-/

  • Just like every McDonald's, and pretty much every chain place is different, so too is EVERY store different, it all depends on training, honesty, and who's working at the time. In Tampa, FL they did the same story at a Best Buy location and had perfect results where others failed... You cant judge an entire company for one experience in ANY field, stories like these could be done on a daily basis for every store of every company in the US...its pure sensationalism.

  • this just shows you that you got goos techs and bad tech this does not represent all of us any were you go you're going to have usless people and usefull people.

  • I've used geek squad twice before to fix my computer, high price but it worked

  • I don't get it??????? Wtd

  • At least the people learned the mistakes they have done.

  • Why didn't they go to 2 circuit city's? This is such a joke, what they didn't tell you was if you check it in for a diagnostic and yes you pay the $70 "THEY WILL REFUND IT BACK WHEN THEY FIND THE UNPLUGGED CABLE!" Take this test to store 1890 in Wisconsin, they will show how a real precinct is run.

  • @pirahc I agree! Same with Store 0325 in Mishawaka IN. we get it done!

  • I agree with what eatthis555 said. Majority of the time they are untrained people who required to sell new hardware and services. The reason why the geek squad agent told the reporter that it would cost him over 500 to fix his problem is that they are required to sell services to customers regardless of what is wrong. As your friendly neighborhood techie, THE MORAL OF THE STORY is....go ONLINE or find a Techie friend before you even set foot in a PC repair shop.

  • when they say that they "fix your computer remotely" what they really mean is that they send the problem to underqualified techs in India

  • Not all Geek Squads are like this. People need to quit bashing them. They aren't "Morons" Take that thing to a few more Computer Renaissance and Circuit City's and I bet the same thing happens. Fucking News People.

  • We can also fix any of the 3 computers and troubleshoot issues under this $200 plan and fix you're computer remotely. $200 a year for UNLIMITED Geek Squad Tech support. Beat that ;).

  • We Offer UNLIMITED Geek Squad Tech support for $200 a year. This also covers 3 computers. 3 free subscriptions to anti-virus software for the entire year. This includes ALL repairs (virus removal, software installations, diagnostics, password removals, hardware installs, basic troubleshooting, etc. ) ALL year long for an UNLIMITED amount of times during that year. This also includes 24-7 phone support, and 24-7 online support.

  • It seems like not every Geek Squad location is equal in competence. It also seems like some Geek Squad location is following through with proper "trouble shooting" or are they giving the customer a load of crap just to make several hundred dollars for the company?

  • I didn't see any macs on here.....

  • Been doing PC work professionally for 7 years now, 1 of the most important things I have learned over the years doing field tech work is NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE SMALL STUFF, 25% of most problems stem from simple problems with simple solutions. Matter of fact, I kept getting a BSOD randomly, turned out my SATA II cable was bent more then 90 degrees & was causing data loss, simple fix to an annoying problem. Sadly corporations make us techs charge a diagnosis for $ & to save them from litigation.

  • screw best buy and geek squad

  • I worked for them for 3 years. Some of the techs were smart and honest, alot of them were typical salesmen trying to please management's unquenchable desire to rip the customer off. Horrible communication, incomplete and confusing documentation, inexperienced (for the most part) technicians, the list goes on.

Most computer problems can be fixed with a google search (less it's an internet problem).

I think there needs to be a computer bar, like the Florida Bar for lawyers. It's a start.

  • @eatthis555 I agree with you, all this slander makes me feel angry because i myself am an agent so i take it personally. I remember a few days ago when my supervisor said why are you taking so long with a costumer and i replied " i am treating him like i would like to be treated if i where in his shoes", he just gave me a smile and a pat in the back. That right there is a true agent, and that's how i train all of my other fellow agents to be.

  • @eatthis555 Technically there is, the CompTIA A+ Certification is the industry standard for proof of basic computer tech knowledge. Unfortunately many computer places don't even require techs to even go through A+ Training. Beyond that there are Associate Degrees (which may or may not be as good as A+ training), and Bachelors Degrees (which would be beyond the need of basic computer repair, so you typically don't see people with B.S. degrees in basic computer tech shops).

  • @eatthis555 You got it. Many techs are pushed to increase profits no matter what. I worked for a similar business with the same lack of ethics from the owner who pushed us, techs, to charge for everything and sell the unsuspecting and trusting customer everything but the kitchen sink. Like you said, no bar for techs, and they do not need a license like a doctor, so even the dog can say he repairs computers.

  • he should geek fired

  • i should call geek squad team to clean up my bathroom and my toilet

  • The problem is the ppl working the counter don't know jack about computers, they're just salesmen. There's usually 1-2 techs in the back doing everything and it's likely that they didn't care to look into the problem on these machines and just gave an off the wall assumption.

  • "You're better off getting a new PC" -The classic response ;)

  • @Aqnde AKA. I dont wana take the time to fix it so go buy a new one. Bye. LOL

  • YEAH BUDDY! Circuit City!!!

  • Motherboard can also be a issue I had my sata socket some how broken( not visible to normal inspection) few years backbut just change port and it's all running...

  • lol We? just the guy representing their Best Buy is the screw up

  • The second he said the error I said out loud hard drive came unplugged or hard drive blew lolz geek squad are usually nubz that just run diagnostic software

  • No IDE fixed disk present. Anyone with common sense, even none tech's could diagnose this problem simply by what the problem states, 'no disk present'. Alarms bells should be going off telling people something's not connected and the system isn't recognizing the drive at boot

  • Comment removed

  • Over a year ago the Vacaville Geek Squad from best buy their wanted to charge my older sister $75 for installing Ram that she purchased somewhere els, that they needed "SPECIAL" tools to get in and install the two dims.the next week later i went by the house and i walked her step by step on the whole STUPID process, she laughed and then made me dinner..Love you Betty.

  • Why did they go to 50 different Geek Squad's and only one of every other place? I'm thinking someone that worked at the news station went there, had a bad experience, and did everything they could to make them look bad.

  • @pirahc The thing is with geek squad is that it all has to do with individual people. If you have an intelligent person working behind the counter you will get good service. The problem is that its a big company and sometimes you hire idiots. Or it could even be bad management trying to squeeze out a couple extra bucks from the customer.

  • @pirahc Check reports from other news agencies. Very similar experiences, geek squad seems to be a constant in all of them.

  • @pirahc nah Geek Squad just sucks I've been to two of them back in 2007 when I didn't know much about computers and I got ripped off pretty bad and nothing got fixed.

  • This just proves that some best buys know their shit, and others are idiots

  • 3:24 that was the sound of XP loggin off, yet it shoed XP loggin on :/

  • How about fixing it right in front of the Geek Squad guys and rub THAT in their noses!

  • @soundspark good call, and back in the UK, The TechGuys are faring no better.

  • It completely comes down to individuals, not entire companies. The most helpful, intelligent "computer guy" I've ever met worked for Geek Squad, although he's moved on since then. Unfortunately, not everyone there is anywhere near the same level. Some techs are great, some suck. Same goes just about anywhere else.

  • Technically wouldn't this be entrapment?

  • @universalmusac If they were cops and not just asshats, yes.

  • The Best Computer repair service is At Home Tech Solutions! My computer had a major virus, and they came to my house and fixed it for as low as 45! and my computer worked better than out of the box! if you want more information I will be happy to help you!

  • That geek failed to spot a simple problem.

    That is bad enough.

    More importantly NO ID BADGE.

    FORFEIT TIME! PRESSUPS! NOW!

  • Not everyone at geek squad is a moron! you cant judge them based on some workers screwing up

  • In my opinion Geek Squad is a form of justice. If you lay out poison, rats will be stupid enough to eat it. I say the stupid get what they deserve.

  • its very easy for the same person who broke the computer to fix it. lol

  • That's a mistake for someone very new at building and restoring computers. It's complete negligence for a company that charges top dollar for professional expert service.

  • as a former geek and best buy employee, i have to say that these employees are forced to upsell and sell any unnecessary services, parts, software, etc by managers to meet corporate numbers. If you do not sell anything, your hours will be cut and you will be fired. I saw the writing on the wall and quit when I conned an elderly person into buying useless parts and services. STAY AWAY FROM GEEK SQUAD AND BEST BUY!

  • They're not just scam artists, but they're idiots.

  • thats why you find some local guy that does it, even I can fix a computer is not that fucking hard, and I am still in high school

  • @bigjake52 but yet you still can't spell, or use simple sentience structure?

  • @visivopro Oh sorry that I'm french, Not everyone is fucking is an Englishmen

  • @bigjake52 Then being there is no geek squad in France, you have even less of a reason to comment on this video. P.S. I am an Englishmen who speaks two languages and I can read and write both.

  • @visivopro So because I say Im french, you think I live in france? Wow your a fucking retared. I live in canada! Quebec to be exact. fucking prick

  • "dakota county technical college" LAME

  • Just so you guys know. Not all of the geek squad agents are morons. Alot of the guys that work behind the scenes at the service centers actually know what they are talking about... And make fun of the store agents that leave notes that say "unit boots to hdd failure immanent, likely motherboard" They're trained to sell stuff... It's just a shame they are the ones the customers see

  • Best Buy was the worst job I ever had

  • They fixed my tv today. They didn't give much respect to me at all, but lots of respect to my dad. The geek squad guy did his job.

My rating: 3 out of 5 stars. They need to give more respect to their customers, seriously.

  • "It could mean your operating system reloaded". What an idiot. The IDE cable was unplugged from the drive/mobo right? I would never charge someone to fix that.

  • @redwolf4k I would charge them ten dollars. I was the one who went to school for IT I have certificates and classes to pay for. I'm not letting them walk out free of charge when I did provide a service.

  • @redwolf4k Trying to figure out what that sleezy eyes guy mean when he said OS reloaded...........whaaaaa???

  • That Darryl Erickson Tech from the Technical College looks like Victor from Underworld at 1:39

  • Same here in Canada. Geek Squad does not know shit!

  • See I used to manage a shop...we did free estimates....and something like this I'd open it and check the cables...probably would not charge the customer. I'm not saying i'm a great tech...my point is small mom and pop shops can give you good service. And you can talk directly to the person doing the repair or the shop owner.

  • Something similar happened to my computer. The hard drive was not detected.

I took to geek squad to retrieve the data. They said it will cost $1200 and it's not 100% guaranteed.

I took it to Seagate which took over Maxtor to see if the data is retrievable for a lower cost. They didn't only retrieve the data. They actually FIXED the hard drive and all the data still there including the Operating System.

I plugged in the hard drive and the computer is up and running.

    FreakSquad sucks big time.

  • @IslamPlanet I hope you do realize that Geek Squad agents do not have the tools or training to perform a clean-room data recovery and then physically repair your hard drive in the store. How much do you think these people make? Your drive gets sent out for an estimate that ends up being $200+ depending on the level of damage and size of drive.

  • I brought my computer in to geek squad and told them I needed a new graphics card and power supply but would install it myself, I just wanted them to help me get compatible components after looking at it. The video card they picked didn't even fit, and the power supply did not work with the motherboard... I took it back the next day and was able to talk to more competant geek squad employees who helped me find what I needed.

  • I know People Who The Geek Squad have Tried 2 Screw Over. There is No way In Hell I would Ever Go 2 any of Them. They Charge hundreds Of dollars For Simple Repairs. the only Place hat has actually Tried screwing Me Over Was Radio Shack. This Idiot Actually Tried To convince me That My laptop was damaged Inside when in actuallity it was My Charger That had burned Out. I told The Idiot That was impossible cause My Brothers charger From The same model Laptop worked On Mine. This was in Fishkill NY.

  • Geek Squad installed our computer and helped us get our wireless internet set up.

But when it crashed, we got a computer repair guy to do it. It's perfect now and we didn't lose anything.

Geek Squad isn't worthless, but like any other company, it can't do everything.

  • geek squad ripped my mother off.. what they did was they replaced the hard drive to the brand new computer she bought for me... while i was on the phone with geek squad i said.. ok you replaced the hard drive shouldn't that be covered under the warranty... and they said they did some software work too..... so basically they wont even give u the option to easily install the operating system yourself.. they keep secrets from customers.. they are a flat out robbery.. i will be spamming this

  • It is way more probable that the hd is failing since is the piece more prone to fail. Nevertheless; you can never go with your first though. You have it thoroughly, and if a part is not working, prove it with diagnostics or putting it in another machine. This was an easy problem to spot, how can you not notice that the biggest cable is unplugged? Besides that, it had power so when you hear it spinning, its a hit that may still be physically alive.

  • i used geek squad once. once.

  • FAIL SQUAD!

  • This story is garbage. They had a bone to pick with Best Buy and went all over the place until they found a Best Buy with a rep who made a mistake. None of the other hains had such scrutiny. They even ignored the first Geek Squad rep who noticed the issue and fixed it with no charge. This was a fear mongering piece plain and simple.

  • @DStalnaker13 except many people online will corroborate the fact that geek squad is a computer disservice company, not a computer service company. also, enjoy being a console fanboy.

  • @Turbokaratelaserpuma people online will ''corroborate'' a lot of stuff, it dosen't make it true. And what does my preference in consoles have to do with this story? I never even mentioned consoles anywhere in my comment. Did you go looking through my other comments on other videos to find something to ''insult'' me with?

  • This is stupid. Every employee is not going to be great. best buy is a big company, and everything can't always be perfect.

  • @daniskicker Ok fine, but to suck bad enough that you rip your hair out and punch a baby?

  • lmao, this is agent cindy from mission control.... i can personally tell you that the geeks in store are not all that grand.... the geeks in home on the other hand are the greatest. and when you call 1800geeksquad (or the ask an agent number, same difference, just so you know), you get folks like me trained to handle minor stuff because the nature of computer repair and telling someone how to fix it when you can't see it is impossible.

  • As a matter of fact, I am a Geek Squad agent and standard operating procedures state we can offer a 15 minute pc health check. After that we can check the unit in for a 69 dollar diagnostic (free if your computer is under a warranty). That's exactly what the video DOESN'T tell you. We eat a lot of costs by fixing things under warranty. If you buy a computer from Best Buy and It's still under mfg warranty, we will send it out to our service center FREE OF CHARGE.

  • @lithiumandgold see that's half the problem you have to go by company policy instead of figuring things on your own. Not saying your all dumb but some don't know jack about pc's. You can't just train someone in a couple days and let them have at it.

  • geek squad = Jew squad

  • Most people can learn to fix their own cpu's it's not that hard! Trusting your shit to Geek squad is the wrong answer. They are idiots, do your research and do it yourself and if you can't I'm sure there's some 12 year old that can do it.

  • PC's*

  • lols. I work for geeksquad. Not at all surprised.

  • It really depends on your tech. If you're working for the geek squad, best buy encourages them to sell products so most of these techs are most likely trying to get their sales up. I think it's pretty obvious when the one guy gave a diagnostic without even opening it. Sure, the hd could have failed, but common sense says check something else first.
