sorry just did 3 seconds of research and found that this was/is the GTX 580! Awesomeness, I can't to do this years build,

2600k sandy bridge + ROG Max 4 P67 + GTX 580= future/dream/$1000 alone.

But after last years build, I bought more expensive small parts(case, psu, memory, dvd, heatsink, and HD + SSD) So now I can afford the best since I will spend what I paid for my last amd build on just those three things!!!

Something tells me AMD won't be able to top this with the upcoming 6970, so that reason alone is enough to justify me purchasing this card and joining Team Green for once.

Nvidia can't design a ray tracing card if there is no technology to produce it. You can blame chip/lithography manufacturers, not a hardware architecture developer.

By the way the cards can ray trace and path trace, and much faster than a CPU, they just can't do it feasibly in real-time. No one's fault, the technology isn't there.

Normalmaps change the direction of the normals (lines perpendicular to a face on the object mesh) and give the object an APPEARANCE of a highpoly mesh, but still have the same amount of polygons. GLSL shading materials are what make our games look good. Only people who know the impact of poly counts on render times would find interest that there were no normalmaps used to trick our eyes into thinking the models were actually high-poly.
