  • I picked up some of that la fin du monde after watching your top 10 video, cant wait to try it!

  • @dvsir911 Nice! Let me know what you think! Cheers

  • its sooooooo good. Its the only beer I WANT to drink.

  • @dvsir911 Its an amazing beer for sure!

  • what r ur top 5?

  • La Francais esta tres excellente!

  • You should review the red one. It's my favorite of the three.

  • @dean1983 That is on my short list for sure. Love that beer!

  • How much does this cost you? That bottle is $13.95 where I go.

  • Fun story: I bought a 4 pack of 11.2 ounce bottles of this beer and got drunk and forgot it and a bottle of Trappist Rochefort 10 in his freezer. I woke up the next morning and was afraid that I had wasted $26 of beer. I look in his freezer and see that all 5 of the beers were extremely cold and none of them were ever CONSIDERING freezing. I challenge anyone to pull that off with a bud light. lol

  • These Trappist Ales have sort of spoiled me. Plenty of other excellent beers, but these always edge out the others. Thank God for the Monks.

  • @DannoCrutch Yeah given the chance I will never turn a trappist down!

  • I have all three waiting for me in the fridge, think I'll try the red first, then the white and finally the blue, got 3 bottles of DUVEL to finish each opening. I drink 2-3 times a month so september is gonna be yummy!

  • I bought this beer a week ago, was planning to drink it on friday, but the bottle exploded -_-. Guess i have to buy a new one, i really want to taste this one, to bad my wallpaper and floor got most of it. Well, the positive side, i got to smell it and i liked the smell.

  • @Notepading Damn that sucks! Ive never had a bottle blow up on me! I would write the brewery.

  • @BeerGeekNation I bottle blew up on me when I dropped it. Unfortunately, a large shard of glass was sticking up after the explosion. As a reaction to the explosion I raised my foot and then when I put my foot down I put it straight down on the 2 inch glass shard. Then I did a beer review of the ROGUE - BRUTAL IPA with my buddy while blood gushed out of my foot. Funny enough, when I did the review. I popped the cap of the beer off and it bounced off of the ceiling and hit my friend in the head.

  • I liked (didn't love) it. Good review.

  • @ronaldtheriot Cool! Thanks for watching. Which do you prefer to this one?

  • @BeerGeekNation You mean, which Chimay do I prefer? I have to admit that I've only tried the blue. But, I've got a bottle of the red in the fridge waiting on a video review (yeah, I do 'em as well). I'll let you know.

  • Was this beer cellared?

  • @AgileHProductions Nope, this was a fresh bottle. It was about 2 months old.

  • @BeerGeekNation Just curious. We just reviewed it and it was a fresh bottle, but a lot of the stuff that I read recommended cellaring it for at least a year. 5 years if you wanted it to taste like port.

  • i decided to get a bottle of this a little while ago shortly after watching your review. the aroma is one of the best i've ever experienced, and perfectly on par to your description. but i can't say im that huge of a fan of the taste. don't get me wrong its an incredible beer it just doesn't suit my taste buds.

  • @jamekididdleshmiddle Hey man at least you tried it! Revisit the beer in a few months and see if your palate has changed after trying more of the style. You might be surprised. And maybe age a bottle to see if it develops better for you. Have you had the Chimay white? Thats an amazing beer that tastes very different from this one.Let me know. Cheers!

  • I just had my first experience with it.

Took one sip and just said "Oh my God."

    Incredible.

  • @generalataris HAHA that awesome man! THis is a world class beer that deserves the Oh My God factor! Glad you liked it. Have you had the Chimay white? Cheers!

  • I have had this beer several times. I hesitate to claim a beer as a favorite. If I had a gun to my head this may be it. Wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your review. You are spot on with this one. You explained this beer for me better than I could have to myself. You have got me exited about my next session with this one. Fine job sir.

  • @snowpuppy77 Thanks so much man for the great comments. This is still one of my favorite go to beers and ill actually be having some tonight on x-mas eve! Have a great holiday cheers!

  • how do you think this compares to st. bernardus abt 12 or other quads?

  • Hello Chris been a while, checking out this review because 19timus1 has asked me to review it, top review man, Cheers

  • @19timus1 Yeah your right there are bourbon/apple notes in there! Im actually drinking one right now haha. I never noticed that before

  • @19timus1 haha thank man! This is far and away one of my favorite beers!

  • Thanks Chris. I know I am behind but I just watched this review an it reminded me why I love what you do. Your description of Chimay Blue took me back to a one I had on the Grand Place in Brussels a few years ago. I remember it tasting just like you described. Thanks for the memory.

  • @ritter57 Thanks man! Some day I hope I can be in Brussels enjoying one of these myself.

  • Spot on review. I don't like it as much fresh. I find this is better when aged. I can't wait to open the second of three bottles I'm aging in my basement...10 months from now.

  • @elharlock Yeah the bottle I had was actually about a year old. Its actually pretty hard to find a fresh bottle around me. Ive yet to see anything younger then 6 months old.

  • Is there anyone who doesn't love Chimay Blue?

  • An excellent beer for a reasonable price for an import and readily available - gotta love that in the world of craft beer

  • @25openmind I love Abt 12. That is the closest you will get to Westy 12 without actually having a westy 12. They were actually helping Westvetern brew Westy 12 during WW II.

  • Sweet review, you like this more then westy 12?

  • @Tantrum777 Its up there, I think because it is a lot more readily available it has an advantage over Westy 12 but I still think Westy 12 just has more complexity to it.

  • I'm surprised that you liked it that much. I had good memories of this beer, but never thought that high of it compared to other quads, or other Belgians for that matter. I'm glad you like it, especially for the price you pay for it.

  • @BeerichiTuba Yeah this is by far one of the best Quads on the market.

  • I liked this beer but I didn't love it. I actually think the White is the best of the three. These Belgian Strong Darks tend to be a little too wine-like for my tastes.

Were you drinking a fresh bottle or a vintage? I'd like to get at least a 1-year-old bottle and try it again.

How does this compare to Westvleteren 12?

  • @ChadzBeerReviews This bottle was brewed in 2/09 so it was a little over a year old. But Ive had fresh bottles and there was little difference in this one. I actually really like the white as well, but they are very very different beers. its interesting though to taste the same yeast characters in the white and the blue. And its similar to Westy 12 but Westy 12 is just a more complex beer, more characters to it. It just seems to be a more though out beer.
