something good about that second rancor's standing issue is that he is in a pit, so if someone had some sort of diorama or something, a rancor looking up from below the ground would make sense. great review

I have the 90s Rancor, loved it when I got it, and now my kids all play with it, since it's made with the rubber it still looks brand new and holds up to a beating, very well made toy and my favorite Rancor they've ever made.

The first rancor that you showed is one that I have and I tried to make it look like it ate one of my clone troopers and it swallowed it whole!! It's still there after a year!!! XD

they should make a rancor with good movement and paint,cheap,and would have the gate that goes up and down.also a big mouth so the rancor can actally swallow the victom and a door on the back to get the figure out

I recently just took out my POTF2 Rancor out of storage as I am starting to set up my display shelves, and I came looking to see if the newer Rancors were worth the upgrade. This video was extremely helpful as it showed me I am best to leave well enough alone and go with what I have. Thanks for the detailed analysis.

i noticed that the battle rancor and the jabba rancor (4th one) are the same mold but only difference is no ear pierce, no shackle/brace, different right hand, and paint job. in my opinion the 4th is the best, but many may disagree, but the 4th rancor in this video is the only i had, and my dad used to have the kenner but his cousins broke it. and nice review man :)

That vintage rancor was one of my favorite toys growing up. Those other rancors didn't look as good, I especially hate it when they give them the ability to rotate a joint (except the wrist) 360 degrees, no real joint does that movement. The shoulders also should always be a ball and socket design, making a shoulder into only a biplanar joint (like a knee or an elbow) is too restrictive.

@soxrock777 Personally I think the vintage one is mandatory, but I'm warming up to the new one. For displays it looks the most realistic. I take back some of my first criticisms.

My opinion, skip the 1990s one, its a little too cartoonish. The Unleashed one is fun but you might want to stick with the movie version. Thanks!

The newest Jabba's Rancor is a dead ringer to the movie! The face/head/eyes are wickedly accurate. The detailing and sculpt is killer! (Jabba's Rancor also comes in a dusty grey paint variant as well as the movie accurate brown one you just demo'd here.) The only thing they needed to do is to strengthen the joint at the bicep, it will stretch apart with time because the left forearm has weight to it.

The main improvement to this one is that it is free standing unlike POTF.

Nice review, I like how you used every rancor produced and went into all their features and showed how big their mouths were, I think what Hasbro should have done is made it so that the newer rancors would be able to "eat" or "swallow" smaller figures(like the small rancor)

The new Legacy one is better than the Power of the Force because that one is all rubber and it looks cartoony. I really hate the arms on the new one though. For display it has amazing detail. If you have to choose one to save for I suggest the new one, but don't get your hopes up.
