Gonna drop my comment about her name, 'cause it's expected from half the commenters: It's Holo or Horo depending on the translator. To be completely honest, I like the sound name Horo better, but I'm not gonna argue if someone says otherwise.

@neverable2 Yeah thats whats weird about it :P I actually like Holo better, and I love the books so I knew that already, but most people who like the anime probably didn't read the books, and generally speaking long time anime fans like sub better, so most Spice and Wolf fans probally always knew her as Horo, but thinking about it now people would probably complain either way :P

@blablablala565 I didn't pick up the books yet. Can't find the first 3 though by now I'll just give up and pick up book 4. At least anime adaptations aren't butcherfests like western movies *cough* Harry Potter *cough* so most if not all the important parts are covered.

@neverable2 The book is actually different in a lot of ways. Fr example, Chloe (howerver you spell it) is a guy, and Lawrence never talks to him when he visits the town at the begining. You can find 1-5 on Amazon.com for about $10 each, they are pretty rare in book stores. Even if you already know what happens, I'd reccomend picking them up. The anime was a great adaptation, but naturaly they did leave a lot of details out. I hear the manga is good too, but I haven't read it myself.

@blablablala565 I read a bit of the manga. It's based on the anime but considering the limit on dialogue being bubbles instead of paragraphs the script takes a huge hit. Art takes a large hit as well. I don't know how to put it but compared to the novel illustrations and the anime the manga's art direction feels like a bad attempt of serious moe cuteness which are all totally conflicting things when all occurring in the same panel. Also the author has a sexy pose obsession.
