  • Amazing combination..

    1. Pause Video At 0:00

  • Comment removed

  • @EaglesonGuitar was doing that from one of his other video's it works really well!

  • @Strange0ne Yeah dude! I loved the idea so I spread it around :) I gave them credit though lol.

  • @EaglesonGuitar that website slows everything down... unfortunately

  • It would really be neat to see see Antoine and Phil Keaggy do a piece together such as this. The emotions that both of them convey would work well together.

  • Nice song. Do you have a lesson on it?

  • the name deserves a bettr city than london!!

  • where are the rest 25mins and 30 secs?

  • Yaa i think I hear the London Riots in this song...

  • hhh combien d guitar icii ... vrmm c superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • So lemme get this straight.... Bieber and this new Rebecca Black chick are more famous than this guy? My God, what is the world of music coming to..

  • @chieftainofmusic I know right? America has been consumed by Rap, Hip hop, and R&B. People have forsaken people like Antoine Dufour... It's depressing...

  • @chieftainofmusic That's not music. People like Antoine have real musical integrity. That's what counts.

  • which is the tunning for this song?

  • @pollomima

    C#G#EF#BD#

  • If that's just 30 minutes, I'm moving to London.

  • I'm pretty sure the tuning to this song is BAMF

  • this guy needs about 50lbs and a beard, only then will he be as awesome

  • @enhshammy how sad it must be in your little world that you dont think Antoine Dufour is awesome.

  • @enhshammy Antoine Dufour + 50lbs + beard + awesome. You've just described Don Ross. Nice one

  • AMAZINGGGGG this is sooo CRAZY like WOW!!!!!!!! LOVEDDD THIS <3

  • why isnt this guy playing in stadiums all over the world..

  • Comment removed

  • @GuitarVids66 1. He isn't singing about getting laid, getting drunk out of ones brains or partying 2. A lot of people don't understand that there is more to music than just three chord progressions and are confused when they hear otherwise.

  • @scobiedoo10 The world should change, this guy deserves everything

  • @MySnowfox I agree, however we can only hope for now :-(

  • @scobiedoo10 Its not music if it doesn't go C-F-G....I, IV, V or gtfo....lol. ;-)

  • Does the bandana wrapped around the top of the guitar and under the strings change the sound or tone of the guitar at all? thanks

  • @radioheadrobot

it deadens the 'tingy' sound when he strums extra hard

search Antoine Dufour FAQ, pretty interesting

  • ok, so ive learnt songs by both andy and antoine. they are bothe very talented artists, although they have a similar sound they both vary in the style of which they play, its impossible to say who is the best because they both have a different style and are bothe amazingly good, ide call it even =)

  • Asking who is better is like asking if you prefer sex or chocolate.

I'll take 2 servings of both please. Prefer both hot.

  • 30 Dislikes?? who does that? : / Antoine Dufour is a Legend, if you don't like this you don't have ears. : )

  • Did he play a wrong note on 2:35?

  • @ttJinn thats a blue note motha fucker, learn some jazz

  • @ttJinn doesn't sound like it

  • 30:minutes in lodon are during like 4:30 minutes if you listen to this song ;.D

  • This is bordering on modern-style Celtic music.. I love it! Losers like me only wish they could play like this. Awesome job, mate!

  • @chieftainofmusic just realized the Celtic knots in the background.. you are a genius, man. Keep on truckin'.

  • you should play metal song :)):D

  • 30 people were jealous that Dufour could spend 30 minutes in London within 4 minutes and 31 seconds

  • i wish it coulda been 2 years in london

the song would of been much longer :)

  • MY UNICORN D: D:

  • 1.05 - 1.10 is bitchin!

  • I don't know if Antoine himself reads these comments, but I have to say this. This song is above all else. I absolutely love this. His music is amazing. I love this particular song, don't know why, the harmonics are out of this world, the whole vibe in this song is like floating in a dream. I'd give anything to see this live. Thank you Antoine for this piece!

  • people like this guy here, kill me

  • Next time I will spend my most precious 30 minutes in London

  • I have a guitar pro tab for this tune (official tab from candyrat). I'll share it if you can give me an official candyrat tab in return?

  • From where are these harmonics coming?!?! Unbeliveable!! Genius!!

  • Antoine is better than Andy. umad?

  • awesome harmonics!!!!

  • This is sound universe.this is amazing music!

  • I don't know Antoine really stands out to me then a lot of the other candy rat acoustic artists, He is truly something else. A pure art....

  • Can you guys just stop talking about who is better, Andy or Antoine, and just listen this awesome music/

  • guess i need to stop biting my nails

  • how small are these rooms you rats-guys record in anyway?

  • what is the brain of that guitar ??? its sounds great !!

  • WTF half a million view, and Andy Mckee has like almost 40 million....

there IS NOT that big a gap, if any, in the quality of their songs.

  • @ZacVrono True that. Andy is the shit. But this guy definitely needs to be recognized

  • @ZacVrono possibly just luck? haha

both amazing guitarist no doubt though!

  • @ZacVrono Sadly its all about corporations promoting it.

  • @MrDelusionalPenguin

How? they are both Candyrat records.

  • @l337r3nn I might have been thinking of the wrong person :P sozor<3

  • @MrDelusionalPenguin

Candyrat tends to promote pretty evenly between its artists, usually it just comes down to artist seniority on who has more views, and Drifting was passed around the internet a lot for a while there.

  • @ZacVrono It's because everyone and their brother has been told to check out drifting. It blew up. Go check out andy's not so popular songs, but still AMAZING songs. He'll have a couple hundred thousand views.

  • @workman845 I prefer Antoine Dufour. His music connects with me more. It touches my SOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ZacVrono I hate to use this argument like every other youtuber, but here goes: if quality was reflected in popularity, then Justin Bieber would not be around.

  • @ZacVrono i think antoine actually writes better compositions.

  • @ZacVrono yeah, he needs some pr work....very talented player.

  • @ZacVrono I've always noticed a bigger focus on the lower frequency for antoine. For people who can't be bothered listening properly it's not as good as mckee who focuses more on the high notes.

  • @boredwan ohhhh ok ya i see what your saying. i think your onto something. stupid general public XP lol

  • @ZacVrono Though, Andy became really famous for Drifting, and many of those viewers probably haven't watched another guitar video since.

  • @ZacVrono Though, Andy became really famous for Drifting, and many of those viewers probably haven't watched another guitar video since.

  • @ZacVrono i would agree about the quality of the songs but in terms of technique antoine is defiantly better.

  • @ZacVrono Andy has a better beard. Good beard = millions of views. dur dur

  • @ZacVrono Dude, Andy's "Drifting" is on every single guitar video suggestion column there is. If it were the same for Dufour, there'd be a different story.

  • @ZacVrono Thats because Andy Mckee's songs have more of a simplistic feel to them, which appeals to a larger audience, because alot of people cant appreciate the 6ths, 9ths and 4ths Antoine uses all because its not what their used to hearing in music. everyone likes a simple g major, but few can appreciate a gmaj6th+sus4th.

  • @magicofmayhem bullshit you don't need to know notes or theory when it comes to enjoying music. Your post wreaks of pretentiousness

  • @xr3n3g4d3x There is objectivity brought into music by the standard in music theory, and then opinion comes in when you consider the array of songs that abide by music theory. You can enjoy music that doesn't work with music theory but that doesn't mean that it's good, lol

  • @magicofmayhem It's not that they can't appreciate it, rather, have never been exposed... that's a shitty thing to boil it down to. Look at the 50's - 70's, people liked some far more dense and cerebral music than Antoine Dufour. Nothing on the guy, he's fantastic. But to say we went from things like A Love Supreme & Bitches Brew being popular, and Bobby McFerrin being actual pop music, to mindless pop dribble now, all because people simply have no aural palate for it now... (next)

  • @magicofmayhem What's really happened, is far bigger than just radio stations not playing it, there's a fundamental difference in what people appreciate from not 50-60 years ago. Parents are the ones not exposing children to higher quality music. It's very rare for people to just hear this music at the age of 25 and instantly love it after a life of insane clown posse and tim mcgraw.

  • @KrummyBear

I guess I only have my dad to thank for showing me old music, the one that mattered. Not that there isn't music right now that is worth anyone's time, but back then it was a much better time music wise.

  • @rafayealmeida I disagree. I think the same quantity of good music is being made today, it's just not exposed.

  • @KrummyBear

Not being exposed is exactly what is making the quality vanish. People think differently now, and whether you like it or not, the work that put into music hundreds of years ago is slowly dissappearing. You only have the media to thank for that.

  • @rafayealmeida Quality is still there. I don't know where you're getting the idea that music is just plain and simply bad now. There are tons of contemporary Jazz and Classical musicians still making great music today.

  • @KrummyBear

You're putting words in my mouth now. I never said it was plain and simply bad, I said the quality that the music used to have is disappearing because it doesn't get the recognition it deserves, thus downgrading it in general. I'm sure there's still great music around, the video above is testimony to that. I ask you this though, how many people do you think have heard of this song compared to Justin Bieber's latest single?

  • @magicofmayhem Lul.... how can you include 9th w/o 7th? Nice and random plug of 7 chord extension.

  • @KrummyBear

It's called an add9 chord. Amadd9, for example, is just an A minor triad (root + minor 3rd + perfect 5th) with an added 9th. If you were to make it Am9, then you'd play root + minor 3rd + perfect 5th (optional) + minor 7th + major 9th. However, in an Asus2, you'd play the root + 9th (or 2nd; depending on which octave) + perfect 5th.

It's just a matter of terminology. It doesn't matter. What @magicofmayhem said in his comment is actually true.

  • @AlbertoLaiho It's not a matter of terminology, it's a matter of function. It's not a 9chord w/o a 7(or implied). If you were to play an Asus2 up an 8va, it's still the two w/o the 7 if you're analyzing it. A 9chord implies a 9 of 7. Take for example a F#9 chord. If you block a dom. 7 chord w/ the G# up the octave, you have a very distinctive sound. If you take the Eb (7) out, you do not get nearly the same effect. Function.Is.Everything. Terminology means almost nothing.

  • @KrummyBear

Oh yes, I agree with you. I am by no means saying that they sound the same or that they have the same functionality. I was just pointing out the terminology for the different uses of the 9th (or 2nd, depending on how you want to call it and the context in which that note is played). I'm only talking about the names of the chords (which are rather irrelevant, really). But, technically, a 9chord w/o the 7th, is called add9. It does NOT sound the same as an actual 9chord (continued...)

  • @KrummyBear

(...continued) But it DOES, in fact, include a 9th in it. Like I said, it does not sound the same as 9chord WITH the 7th.

We both arrived at the same point, too, which is that terminology is useless. These names are pointless when it comes to the music itself. Different notes sound differently when put together with other notes, regardless of their names, and the name that said group of notes receives, and that's about it.

  • @KrummyBear

Sorry, I didn't mean to say that terminology is useless. Just that it's irrelevant when it comes to the music itself. It's just a reference so you can produce that sound again in the future.

And sorry for the comment spree!

  • @magicofmayhem That's not right though is it? Certainly his 'hits' have familiar progressions, but the same could be said of some of Antoine's songs - admittedly I haven't heard many. His album tracks are cut from the same cloth as this, I promise you. :)

  • @magicofmayhem He seems to quote Andy McKee (Nakagawa-san) though at 2:22 - even in the same key :)

  • @magicofmayhem FYI, andy uses color chords just as much as Antoine. The difference is the complex rhythyms. Andy's song "When She Cries" is centered around the Cadd9 chord.

  • @magicofmayhem It can't be major and a suspended chord. If it's suspended, that implies that there is a second or a fourth in place of the third, hence the feeling of suspension. It would be an G6add4 chord.

  • @ZacVrono Word, son....all music is taste....not quality.

  • I live in London, if only it were this good. ):

  • @rpoland Excuse me sir can u please say UR THE MOST AWESOMEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD TO ME! to Antoine Dufour. THANK YOU!

  • If you watch closely he quickly grows two more fingers on each hand while playing this

  • I have just finished learning this song on the guitar- I think I am possibly the happiest person on earth right now.

Seriously, if this song was a girl, I would propose to her immediatly

  • @GarretsShadow You have the tabs? O: Lucky.

  • @GarretsShadow Hahaha yeah, i learnt this song a few weeks ago by ear. Felt amazing once i'd done it

  • @joshrthomas94 yep, it like bliss

  • Wants the guitar tuning for this song??? Anybody know??

  • @bassmanfury From low to high: Csharp, Gsharp, E, Fsharp, B, Dsharp

  • burnes my soul

  • *insert number of dislikes here* people have no speakers.

  • Mind = Blown

  • 4:31 of awesome!

  • the vibratos he does with bass string sound amazing.
