Maiden didn't play ONLY their new stuff in 2006. Eddie Trunk talking shit as usual. He's exactly the kind of dick that thinks he should get into gigs free and get VIP treatment. Complete douche nozzle.
Can I just say, this guy is more accurate than all of you when he says the songs are mainly from 1983-87/88.
Iron Maiden had done the 1980-83 era on their 'Eddie Rips Up the World Tour', or the Early Days tour. This tour was about songs from Powerslave, Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, with classics from the previous 4 albums thrown in on top (and Fear of the Dark).
I was at that concert, guy is a douche. He clearly doesn't really care about Maiden and he was very full of himself. "Ohhhh look at me on stage introducing Iron Maiden". Blah! He's an idiot.
Who the fuck is this guy? He's obviously not a true fan. AMOLAD is a brilliant album. I still kick myself I couldn't get tickets to see them back then
I really want to see these guys at least once in my lifetime. I've watched all their live videos and the fact that they are still putting on amazing, energetic shows, considering how long they've been around is just inspiring. Maiden is the best band ever!!!
Phantom of the Opera WAS written for their first album. Eddie Trunk is extremely knowledgeable on heavy metal, but he got a couple of facts wrong on this video. First of all, he said that they were playing songs from '83 to '87, '88, but they actually played songs from '80 to '88. Second, he said that Powerslave was released in '85, but it was actually released in '84.
You also got a a couple of facts wrong my friend;)
The didnt play Phantom of the Opera in 2008 that was in 2009.
And the played song in 2008 from the year 1980 to1992.Fear of the dark was the newest song they played wich was in 92.Sorry about my English,im from Norway.
saw them on the 14th in the PNC center. and my god they changed my life. like im not even joking. Bruce put on an awesome show running all over the stage with flags and customs. crazy solos and even that giant eddie doll that came out. *sigh* il give anything to see them live once again. LONG LIVE THE MAIDEN!
this guy is an idiot, who cares if they didnt play the old stuff in matter o life n death. i was there and it was awesome. they have been playing old stuff for as long as almost 30 years i bet there tired of it....
tired of it? ROFL! now u don't know what YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT these guys love what they do, doesn't matter to them what they play but i can guarantee you that they prefer the older stuff
Nah, Maiden's never been a nostalgia band - they're one of the few older bands that've are always playing a good chunk of the new album and adding new stuff to their set. Only the poser critics that spend most of their time listening to Bon Jovi or Coldplay seemed disappointed about the setlist on the "Matter of Life & Death" tour. The old fans were glad to hear some new tunes, and the new fans put the album in the chart. And the songs sounded great live.
totally agree, but on brave new world and dance of death, they got away fromt the gallops, the two albums still kicked ass, then they went back to gallops on molad, it was their beter album since Fear of the dark
I believe that Eddie Truck doesn't care for Iron Maiden. In the only scene he's in the documentary Fight 666, he asks Bruce if the tour is a nestalga tour. Which looks like it pissed Bruce off, as to say, oh are you guys trying to live off your legacy. Anyone who watches That Metal Show, can see, probably because he's an American DJ, the bands he kisses ass to are Black Sabbath, KISS, Van Halen, i.e. US mainstream bands. Which clearly Maiden are not.
my life is complete now i saw em live in new mexico this year !! 21 years after i saw em in 87 and i have to say they were better this time round like a fine wine they are perfect.
This guy got a few things wrong. Saw Maiden on the AMOLAD tour and I seem to remember The Evil That Men Do, Fear Of The Dark, 23:58, Iron Maiden and Hallowed being played along with the entire album. For the record it's the best Maiden show I've ever seen and I've seen quite a few. Anyone who just wants "classic" Maiden should go see a tribute act! LOVE THE NEW STUFF! Plus didn't Maiden do a really big US tour this year too?
Yeah, they did do a pretty good sized US tour this time around. AMOLAD was a phenomenal tour. The Legacy was too bad ass. I am always willing to see them play anything they have written. I will say though, since AMOLAD was my first show, it was just way too damn awesome to see songs like Rime and Moonchild.
I remember them saying they were gonna release every tour on DVD. I kinda expected this release would have shows from the powerslave - 7th Son, instead of just "Live After Death". Wonder if they'll do another late-80's nostalgia tour for those DVDs, and if so if they'll ever make it to the Blaze-era DVD's and tour (always wondered what those albums would've sounded like w/ Bruce & Adrian).
"it's all about the oldschool stuff, dating from about 83 through about 87-88"
WTF!?! HE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HIS TALKING ABOUT... IF YOU GOING TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN TV, YOU COULD AT LEAST READ ABOUT IT BEFORE.........

I am so lcuky to have tickets =) i can't wait to see them again, Bruce said in bergen we'll come back in 2008 here in Bergen... almost Oslo or Trondheim, but i wonder what songs this maybe the last changes to hear live on a concert....
i hope its not : Fear of the dark, the number of the beast, iron maide, Hallowed by thy name, run to the hills, for an example, we need this song =)
