  • i like to see it crash hell yeah

  • @zzztubazzz i like to see it crash when u and your family is in it

  • Well Said ''Aviationwingnut'' I'm a prop fan but I also love the ''Old'' Jetliners to.

  • that was intense

  • wow that cockpit seemed cramp for a 747..couldn't see much except the back of three guys.

  • Nice job guys !!

  • Liked the vid. More and more of these "queens of the sky" are being retired as they age. Nice to watch an older one that still has the FE in place and a panel full of "steam gauges" instead of the glass cockpits of today.

  • Kwll

  • Мужик!

  • Pilot is one of the most responsible, have using a present of mind, and very importand job in mankind.

  • Be aware that this guy " askcaptainscott" is no airline pilot. I expose him and now he blocks me on his those that he post. He is a liar.

  • touch down...reversers really..this is what happens when software comes with too many options

  • Is it true that you guys land the planes a little bit harder with lots of turbulance?

  • what do you guys do during the flight after take off?

  • shit camera work why waste our time

  • And after they're safe on the ground it is revealed the "turbulence" has actually been a result of camera shake by the person holding the camera.

  • Your shaking more than the Plane is, Welcome to ALASKA hong kong fooiee airlines... lol

  • Title didn't say anything about a think fog...

  • Jiggled the cattle on this one, eh? Next up...crosswind at NRT?

  • That was awesome. I play Microsoft Flight Sim 9 all the time. This vid is very cool.

  • the line check takes place during normal ops and there is just extra staff abpoard usually a check captain who looks on whilst the crew are flying.

  • can someone explain line checks to me please?

  • @matims04

line check is an internal ckeck flight which airlines plan for their pilots

  • @stevenreiss these are with passengers?

  • @matims04 There are 2 basics line checks. When a pilot is ready to upgrade to either a captain or from a 737 to and 747, after ground school and the completions of the siminar he will then fly the new upgrade with a company check pilot. The second on is when a pilot is asked to fly into a know diffecult airport, say like the one at Aspen. He must also demostrate his skill to a check pilot. My dad retired as a 747-400 check pilot. There is a little bit more to but no space is left.

  • @CaptainArt777 The are also regular checking programs (annual where I work) some companies go bi-annual though the most common is a check program of 2 sectors in 3 days max per year.

  • @matims04 Check the post a few earlier by me.

  • RWY 14 ILS..?

    Big Lake VOR?

  • @motokid032

the vor is a navigation aid and can also give the distance to the navaid then its a vor dme distance measuring equipment and is an imoirtant instrument with a needle pointeing in the direction of the navigational aid. the rwy is the runway 14 means its pointing 140 degress and has an instrument landing system - ils that is a localizer and a glidepath i would hope that even my grandmother in her rocking chair should know that

  • @stevenreiss

Was there a point when you thought that I didn't know what any of that was?

I think I know more about NavAids then you ever will.

I was just asking if it was RWY 14 that they used and if they used Big Lake VOR to get there.

  • @motokid032

thanks for the comment - I did not of course know the backgorund to the question. but of course there will be quite a lot to learn for me from here on too.

  • That flight engineer took his seat belt off before the aircraft reached the terminal. No frequent flyer points for you.

  • Comment removed

  • I flew to Anchorage via US Airways this past septemer. 3am we started our approach, it was extremely turbulent. Some passengers were letting out shreaks and the aircraft shook violently. Could see anything out the windows. This video shows what a demanding job a pilot has.

  • Comment removed

  • The captain is wearing three stripes because this flight is his captain line check. The aircraft is a B747-200 freighter, ex Atlas

  • @chalkspilot I believe the aircraft is an Evergreen plane. This video was posted a few months before Boeing switched from Evergreen to Atlas, which occurred in the fall of 2009.

  • you cant see crap out of the window on this vid. besides the bouncing around it was a bit boring and long.

  • hate the old school flight deck

  • I've read this before and I'll write it here again: 240p, we meet again!

  • 747 is my favourit plane, but come on guys Airbus isn't that bad, I mean they arn't as good as boeing but at least they're airplanes look cooler.

  • boeing rocks airbus

  • Why is the Captain wearing 3 stripes?????

  • @captainralphy The Captain was in Right Seat- In the left seat was an First Officer

  • Gotta love or hate the jumpseat view.

  • Was this an old Northwest Classic or Atlas/Polar/Southern? I used to jumpseat on Northwest to Chicago a lot before they became Delta.

  • YEAH! ALASKA BABY!

  • It's funny to see all these anti-Airbus anti-French hate comments. Scared of a little competition I guess.

  • airbus is a piecie of sh**t french made aircraft!

  • the 47 is a hell of an airplane, but Id rather work on airbus anyday!!!

  • Flight Engineers... sadly missed. Just as important as the crew up front.

  • I can see Sarah Palin's house!

  • Paul's a pretty cool pilot

  • Very bouncy at 1000 Low and slow :(

  • apoco le tocaba el claxon al de adelante xD

  • doesnt the captain always sit on the left?

  • @delacerdaa Yes, but nobody says they can't switch if they want to

  • Man, I sure loved seeing all of those "steam gauges"!! EFIS is nice - but......

  • I feel bad for the Flight Attendants. I'm sure there were plenty of dirty seats to scrub and disinfect.

  • muito bom o comandante perigosa a situação em !

  • Me not know. Please to understand.

  • @shalako2011 you fucking idiot. how does my commenting on the fact that it is a 747 200/300 make me a sexual deviant?? how about if if my father was a flight engineer for 35 years on 747 classics? does that make me a little bit more informed and less of a sexual deviant?? you sad, pathetic waste of space. now fuck off and dont reply you cunt

  • Seven people are Airbus workers.

  • @erjamon1 What do you call a worn-out Boeing? A new Airbus.

  • Comment removed

  • @SenorSpode What do you call a new airbus? A new airbus.. What do you call a worn out boeing? A WORN-FUCKING-OUT BOEING! :o)

  • @julle3213 Wow, you sure irk easy.

  • @SenorSpode u own

  • @SenorSpode all airbus are more equiped than most boeings in operation

  • @SenorSpode y hate on airbus so much

  • @SenorSpode What's bad about airbus? Sorry I'm an amateur.

  • @erjamon1 Make that ten. ;-)

  • @SenorSpode Poor guys... never felt the power of the 747...

  • @erjamon1 I know, but I have. And what sensuous, luscious power it is! BA-BAAAAAAYYYY!

  • @erjamon1 Ten.

  • @erjamon1 make that 23 now

  • thea alarm going off is the pilots toilet is full and needs to be empty on landing

  • whats turbulance like in the cockpit?

  • Are those audible tones alarms, or something radio-related? If alarms, what kind?

  • @rdekema they're beeping the horn to tell other airplanes GET OUT OF MY WAY! :)

  • how old is that boeing !!!!

    no glass cockpit!

  • @julianvelding98 Really old!! je je je

  • Why you tilt camera?

  • Now is this a real flight or is it a simulator ?

  • @hisham1619 off course its real...

  • why is it still shaking AFTER touchdown and Looooong after rollout and reversers have have been stowed???? Stop shaking camera..

All we saw was a ride down the ILS... to mins.. Ya know what that means dickhead???

  • @TheGstream001 ... ur an idiot, stop complaining. And how do you know it's an ILS? (I bet you don't even know what that stands for). and they don't call out mins, and I didn't hear any markers... so, I think your just saying this to try and sound like you know what you're talking about

  • Is that a 747-200?

  • nice challenge greatly executed by crew

  • This is a flight simulator in my Dad's garage. We used four 60 inch TV monitors and Google Earth to show the landscapes. The shaking of the camera simulated the turbulence. It was a fun project to do. Everyone in the cast did an excellent job. Thanks guys. Great job!

  • great video! makes a mofo appreciate the job a commercial pilot has!

  • God bless pilots! I fly from Chicago to London all the time and I HATE flying with a passion and if I see them, I always always thank them.

  • 747 = big fat heavy slow and ultimate reliable beast

  • @jaa93997

Reliable, yes, slow mmm, no. They are one of the fastest airliners in the world. with a cruise speed of M.85, the only thing that's faster is the A380, and only at it's "max" cruise speed of .88 (which they never use, as it is not fuel efficient), normal is the same as the 747 M.85. Every other commercial airliner is slower.

  • @DHC8100 wrong indeed, the a380 hasa slower crussing speed, the 747 can pierce mach1 in a steep dive at full speed.

  • The captain turns to the third officer behind him and say's "Hey bitch I didn't turn the seat belt sign off yet" and a awkward silence is in the cockpit till taxi to gate lol..

  • 4:11 sounds more like a choo-choo train than a plane.

  • @Canuckelhead83 Does a bit, thats the altitude alert horn

  • 747 -100 747-400 only two crew and computer instraments

  • @christiantheo1 obviously not

  • Airline pilots are like Taxi drivers, but well more paid!

  • @fifmasta Pilots are nothing like taxi drivers. The only people who say these things are people who aren't pilots who have absolutely no idea what is involved in being a pilot - just because in these sorts of planes the autopilot is able to take a lot of the workload off a pilot does not mean that anyone can do it.

  • @modestmoofan actually i know a lot of pilots who refer to themselves as bus drivers

  • @sparkythefinn As a pilot the only similarity I can see between a pilot and a taxi driver is moving people from A to B. Remember, not all flying is "positive ROC, gears up, A/P on" then 3-9 hours later A/P disconnect & flare, and even pilots that do fly like that still started out in planes that only accepted hands and feet to manipulate the control surfaces.

  • @sparkythefinn but bus drivers dont like what they are doing

  • @fifmasta

Can a Taxi driver land a 40,000lbs machine doing close to 200kph with on one engine, with a 30kt (55kph) cross wind in 1/2mile visibility, on a 3000' gravel runway? I think not, so taxi drivers we are not!

  • They have strippers on this airline? Man, sounds better than some crummy movie anyday!

  • All these buttons and knobs... Man, I wanna press and flip stuff all day. :(

  • Awesome. Just one question. Why are the instrument panels in planes so high? It looks like the pilots have a difficult time seeing what's in front of them.

  • @CameronStewart

Yes we have an airport. Its an international airtport. We have also had air force one stop many times for re-fueling when they are passing through from a recent trip from Asia.

  • What airline is this? Cool video.

  • IFR APPORACH?

  • 747-100 or 200 for sure cause the 300 has got other instruments

  • this video is totally rubbish. just plain white color on the window. nothing to see.just the sound. the video guy is really sucks.

  • Now i can relax a little, I seem to be very afraid of turbulence when I travel my airplane, I am terrified the plane will just fall..i hope all planes are nice and safe

  • its a 747 100

  • It makes the question, if you can do that in a (mostly) non computerised cockpit (unlike a 747 - 400 or 737 - 800 ) why bother upgrading. Surly you get the same "service" with out having to spend millions upgrading planes. Surly a 747 400 is a little less thrilling to fly than one of its older types?

I can understand why getting rid of a flight engineer is useful (cost cutting)

  • Great video! 747-200?

  • Great vid, dude! Yep, it definitely looks like you guys were getting bounced around a LOT on that approach!

  • One of the best videos from the flight deck, great teamwork .

  • God bless pilots. I hate flying with a passion and when I got off my flight from Detroit to London, I asked the guy if he was the pilot and he said he was one of them and I just gave him a hug. He looked at me like I grew an extra head. But I was just so grateful so who cares if he thought I was weird!

  • so is that the navigator PTK76???

  • Great team work

  • That was awesome thank you for the video.

  • shit 8 hour fly with 747-200 was bad unless if with 747-800 that will be nice

  • looks like a kallita pile of shit

  • LOL!!! I know what you mean man i see those old 747's at the airport every day

  • The crew really earned their money on that one. Good video; it shows that some approaches can really test you.

  • @nemo227 Chuck Yeager always said: Panic is your worst enemy.

  • @GimmeKitty Yes, yes, but I have a friend who was going to land on a gravel bar in Alaska until he saw a bunch of Grizzlies there. He figured the Grizzlies were his worst enemy (at that time).

BTW, did you read Yeager's autobiography?

  • @nemo227 I didn't see too much of the landing. I can't judge.

  • Looks like a 747-200 / 747-300!?

  • Nice landing...wasnt too bad, but not that much fun either. I have been there many times myself.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah but it is true that flights over 8 hours you need an extra pilot

  • That is not granted. Different countries have different regulations, and different airlines may have different agreements with their unions. Fly FRA-JFK with LH and you'll have two pilots, fly the same route with DL and there will be three pilots. There is no universal 8 hour rule.

  • all flights over 8 hours require at least 2 crews

  • dont reply unless you know what you are talking about! this is a 747 100.200 or 300 so the third guy is the flight engineer.

  • @PTK76 good Job.

  • @PTK76 Your reply also apply to you. You're not 100% right either. 747 do long flights. On long flights, they carry a relief pilot with them which could be either a three or four stripper. However, by the looks of the instruments, this looks like an older model 747 and not the 747-400.

  • @PTK76 Showing that the video is quite old. Or do they still have them in the 747, they're not my thing of expertise.

  • @PTK76

Oke im not THAT of an plane nerd especialy not in 747.

But the panels are a bit pushd in.

Does't that mean its an 800?

Or does that only count at 737?

  • @erikguitarmaniac

They only started adding the glass cockpit on the 400 series. It is either a 100, 200 or 300 series. I am inclined to say its 200 series since that is popular with cargo companies. Unless this video is very old, this has to be a cargo company because airlines in the U.S. stopped using legacy 74s a long time ago.

  • @PTK76 well it's definitely not a -400 because of the analog gauges :)

  • @PTK76 quit your whining, you arrogant fuck

  • @PTK76

    No! It´s a Stealth Bomber!

  • @PTK76 flight engineers have 2 bars..

  • @gIenr88 His bars have nothing to do with his job role, it is to tell you what stage he is at. It indicates that he has a PPL, CPL and his instrument rating. He's a fully qualified pilot basically.

  • @m2thendfly So then why do all captains have 4 bars and first officers have 3 bars?

  • @gIenr88 The captain has experience and has passed something called a command line check. This will earn him another stripe, a seat change and a payrise. If you see a flight engineer with 3 stripes they will be as qualified as an f/o but the airline may not have the capacity to place that pilot in an f/o jobrole.

  • @gIenr88 flight engineers have 2 bars if they are junior and 3 bars if they are a senior flight engineer

  • @PTK76 correct you are sir! also you can see its a full analouge cockpit. no glass panels there :) (save for the important bits liek perhaps the FMC)

  • Nice landing. Why is there three people in the cockpit. Do all large jets have three pilots.

  • all flights over 8 hours require two crews

  • This aircraft is a 747 classic which means a 3 man crew. The third person is the flight engineer. It has nothing to do with flight times.

  • that could also be a jump seat

  • flight engineer

  • do commercial flights even have those still?

  • @popkorn66 Have what?

  • @Brad1711 navigators

  • @popkorn66 No. As for flight engineers, it just depends on the airplane. Newer aircraft are automated to the point where they don't need flight enginers; meanwhile a lot of older aircraft have somebody sitting back there watching the gauges.
