By my rough calculations it would take me two weekends to build this, at my minimum cash labor rate, (you would have to twist my arm pretty hard, and I would have to love the project to work that cheap) this would cost me about $800.00 before plans and materials. The $300.00 that was charged for a hand crafted piece or art like this would of been a steal.
There wasn't a price that allowed John to make a decent income at it yet still be a price that was reasonable for such a jig. You pretty much have to manufacture stuff in low wage countries to hit the price point that people expect.
Ha, that would have come in handy during my time in the apprenticeship... Cool stuff all in all.
I tested your demo version of the gear generator and I'm thinking about buying it. Creating gears in 3dsmax on my own didn't really go smooth enough and it was distracting from the actual project. Cheers.
You could also use it on a router table if you have a slot in it. (Mine does) and say, a Dovetail bit. Although cutting the pins would be more difficult.
oops - I'd changed my mind as to what URL to give the page after I uploaded the video. Can't change it now, so put a page pointing at the right page at that URL now.
nice

why is this jig no longer available for sale?
how is it that good inventions are not available for others to enjoy?

@Matthiaswandel Prehaps if it was sold as a build it your self kit it would be more viable price wise. Does John make them with a cnc?

Are you sure the spelling is correct for the URL at the end of this video. I tried and could NOT find this site.
