Devon, as the main person many people knew, was humble and respectful, yet knew when to strike at the right time. Killing and replacing him with this arrogant guy is something I have never gotten over to this very day.
If a proper sequel were to be done, it must be done respectfully - to continue on the legacy of the storyline and show, not ruin it. It must be crafted out with a WELL-WRITTEN script by WELL-CHOSEN cast and crew, not a bunch of moronistic scoundrels.
An absolute disgrace to ALL KR FANS out there...every sequel made to the 1980s version has tarnished the image of the original series...especially this POS movie.
The new characters are rubbish, particularly that SOB Maddock who is so full of himself and thinks he should be put on a pedestal. The original car as we knew is no longer around, and that was the icon of the series. Worst of all, killing off a main character was the most miserable scene ever in the history of the entire storyline!
This was the biggest bunch of garbage of a return movie. What the hell? No original K.I.T.T. car and a boring, lack luster script. Why the cast agreed to participate in such garbage is beyond me.
The fact about the round steering wheel could be due to that it could have replaced the aircraft style steering wheel sometime between the end of the series and KITT's decommissioning
I love those Fast and Furious movies too, But Knight Rider wasn't about all that stuff. I personally think the best way to do it is to take it back to it's roots and go full Retro with it and bring back that 82 Black Trans Am that we all fell in love with as KITT. They could always put some modern Graphics in there and make the special effects better and all that. But KITT was bad ass for his time. Still bad ass. It could work. And put KNIGHT RIDER on the BIG SCREEN for ONCE!! It's overdue!! :)
I HATE it when they keep bringing back Knight Rider and never bring back KITT as we all use to know him as. KITT was a 82 Black Trans Am!, Not that Red POS in this movie that he later becomes, KITT was not a MUSTANG! I hated the new Knight Rider and missed the original KITT. Every time they have brought back Knight Rider it has failed horribly. I think if they are going to bring it back, they need to bring it back right. Stop trying to please the Fast and the Furious Crowd.
@snosavenski totally agreed, all attempts have failed because they havent bring the original 82 tans am back, thats what the real fans want to see again
@snosavenski I think the problem with the Knight Rider remakes is that either they are way too serious or way too campy. And the original 80s show was already pretty campy and cartoony, so it's inexusable to have a 2008 TV series be even MORE preposterous/silly then the original 80s series. Then you had the 90s Team Knight Rider series, which was just way too serious and dark. They all miss the middle ground of goofy fun mixed in with some kinda believable plot that the original series had.
@gothatway09 , The biggest issue with the reunion movie and all the remakes and so on is they didn't fallow what made the original series so special. they changed to much of it to update to today's audience and in the process ticked off fans of the original series. The only thing good about Team Knight Rider was the intro music and the two Women. the new Knight Rider just sucked as did the Reunion movie.
well thank's to David as he was the producer for this show. i sure hope they totally ignore this and start fresh with the original KITT and we need a big screen movie!! NOW!!!!!!
there is somthing i dont get now. kitt is dismantled in the movie but in the 2008 knight rider in the first episode when them guys break into that house the old kitt it in 1 peice
@shawnhbkdx90 Actually in that pilot theres apparently two trans ams; one partially disassembled and one together. Its unclear(but assumed) that one is kitt. Additionally, in one of the original episodes, it was stated that there was a backup body, though it wasn't used when kitt was destroyed so I take that with a grain of salt like half the gadgets we never see again.
This is the part where the movie turned into a disgraceful fest of shittyness. Indeed, what a slap in the face to all Knight Rider fans. Kitt dismantled, and installed in some ancient Chevy and that red piece of shit. Whoever fucknut wrote this abomination should be smeared with axle grease and feathers.
@torhjelm Hear hear-- KITT was a million times more badass as a Trans Am than ever he was as a Dodge Stealth, or Pontiac Banshee, or whatever the flying f**k that thing is. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car...but it is NOT, never has been, and NEVER WILL BE KITT. This movie was BS-- the ONLY saving grace it had was bringing back Edward Mulhare, The Hoff as Michael, and William Daniels as KITT. God, I feel like I need a shower after watching this. INSULT TO KNIGHT RIDER FANS EVERYWHERE!!!
@csihardfan111 I know. But he looked more sexy as the black T-Top. At least, that's my opinion. ^^ And Michael looked as if he wanted to hit Maddox.. he's gathering brownie points with that.
In this scene, I really understood why Michael Knight was pissed cause of Russell Maddock having KITT dismantled, KITT still could make a difference. For people like Russell Maddock, out with the old, in with the new.
Love it when Devon Miles lays down the law on Russell Maddock. Way to go Devon!!
Why they just didn't (oh, I KNOW why Maddock didn't) transplant the old KITT AI into the new 4000 body to give the more experienced mind a worthy mate in a stronger body, I will never know. Or better yet, why not just have made the entire project about remaking KITT for the new era, which is to me what happened when the ex-Pontiac got his new Dodge Stealth (in name only, I know) body. As smart and intuitive (and as sarcastic) as ever, and tuned and primed for any and all newcomers.
If you want to see a good scene of Devon really pissed off, I can't think of the episode title, but it's where some friends of Michaels get poisened by this rare orchid, and finally Michael himself does. Anyway, theres a scene at the foundation where they have a suspect that there questioning and he's a total ass, and Devon loses his patience and looks like he's about to deck him. I believe it's season 3 if that helps. He grabs him by the collar, scares the hell outta the guy, it's pretty rad.
Actually Michael did eventually punch out Maddock (YES!!!) when he insulted Devon mid-way through the movie, after the drudge up the 57 Chevy. then to really make Maddock suffer Michael installs KITT (the real KITT) into the 4000 just to piss him off really bad.
Tania Walkers almost killed Michael Long. FLAG (Foundation for Law and Gouverment) gave Michael a new face and a new name: Michael Knight. Michael Long does not excist anymore. After that all Wilton Knight asked Michael to be the Knight Rider. Michael saw a car that exactly looks like hes old Trans-Am, but this car had the newest technology. After a couple of days Michael said 'yes' and he became the new Knight Rider with KITT (Knight Industries Two-Thousand). This is how Knight Rider started!
In the very first episode he thinks it's his car, but they tell him it only looks like his car. KITT was designed as a new car from the beginning. Michael's old car is never seen again.
@Draknfyre But even that statement by Devon is ambigious and left open for intrepretation. It only looks like his car but not his car could also mean that it no longer is the car that he left in the desert, but the shell actually was his car. It can't be coincidence that millions of people assumed that Wilton Knight and FLAG simply took Michael Long's Trans Am, installed KITT's CPU and molecular bonded shell and other gizmos and then...ta da...KITT as we know him.
The '82 Trans-Am was new that year. They gave him the new car as his car, and K.I.T.T was obviously an '82 Trans-Am. It was not left to interpretation. In the episode Michael makes his confusion known by saying several times "that's my car", but Devon tells him it only LOOKS like his car.
The whole "car looks the same" thing was sort of a preview. Like when David Hasslehoff had a cameo in the first episode BEFORE he had his surgery to make him look the way he does. His face is in the shadows, but it's him and not the actor playing Michael Long. Letting you see what K.I.T.T looks like before seeing him was just a foreshadowing kind of thing, but his car and K.I.T.T were always separate.
K.I.T.T. had been in development a long time. Remember K.A.R.R.? He was put into storage long before Michael joined. And he looked exactly like K.I.T.T in his first appearance.
K.I.T.T had a HELL of alot more than his CPU, MBS, and scanner added. The episode explained they built K.I.T.T. from the ground up. And he cost $11.4 million.
but everything else all the computer stuff put into KITT was not orginally part of Michael's Trans-AM. Basically saying on the outside it looks like his car but the inside with all the High-Tech stuff(at that time) was not part of his car.
I know Flag created KITT, all the computer stuff that makes up Kitt, But I thought they had taken Michael's Trans-Am and put everything into it.(which they could easly do) and then added the molecular bonded shell to The Car to protect it. Later when Devon says it may look like your car but it isn't he was refering to the THe car it' self.
I watched the Nightrider 2000 movie when it came out and many times since, and I've paid very close attention to this particular scene. The contents of the huge bin are supposed to contain KITT's dismantled body but if you look closely, you see a steering wheel from an ordinary car, and other parts that don't look even vaguely familiar. one of KITT's hubcaps or the linear shaped steering wheel would've sold the scne to me.
I noticed in this movie that the Red car was able to drive or flot on water..I guess over time they improved on that Since Kitt's Trans-Am Days, I remember a Episode in the orginal series they testing Kitt on the water.
what i find funny is... they dismantled the car liek they own it.. however in the series.. it was michaels car, the foundation decided to modify HIS car with the upgrades... they did not own it.
actually Kitt is in fact micheals car.... in the pilot episode of the tv series when he is micheal long before he gets shot he is driving a black 84 trans am, which during micheals transformation is in fact transformed itself into Kitt it is also explain that even thought the car only bares a physical similarity to his its completely different with the modifications but he still legally owns it as it was a nd still is his black 84 trans am.... if you know what i mean
Sorry TCB. Michael Long is driving a Trans-AM when he is shot in the face ten minutes into the pilot, but it's not KITT. KITT was developed by Wilton Knight and the Foundation for Law And Government. When Michael recovers and is shown KITT for the first time by Devon, he mistakes it for his car. Then Devon smashes the hood with a mallet to show Michael the indestructibility of the molecular bonded shell. He agrees to work for FLAG and the rest is history. But KITT ... definitely NEVER his car.
Manufacturers produce cars in the future and put them on the wait list for their big day view. Just like in Knight Rider 2008, the car they used is a 2010 Mustang and they premiered it on 2008.
@clarencecmcgee definitely agree. i remember how many times ive seen the old series, and seen the steering yoke in plain sight. that steering wheel is a disgrace.
I agree Madock was a Moron for dismantling KITT. Michael should have punched him out for taking KITT apart like that. Shoot all the updated stuff (at least at the time of this movie) they could have put into KITT not the brand new ugly red car. Even tho later it had KIT's voice mod placed into it...The CAR just wasn't KITT.
Couldn't agree with you more!! They could've at least showed us the old 1983 Trans Am K.I.T.T. version one last time before torturing us with that red piece of shit version!
It must be crafted out with a WELL-WRITTEN script by WELL-CHOSEN cast and crew, not a bunch of moronistic scoundrels.

actually Kitt is in fact micheals car.... in the pilot episode of the tv series when he is micheal long before he gets shot he is driving a black 84 trans am, which during micheals transformation is in fact transformed itself into Kitt it is also explain that even thought the car only bares a physical similarity to his its completely different with the modifications but he still legally owns it as it was a nd still is his black 84 trans am.... if you know what i mean

How could he have had an '84 Trans Am when the series premiered in 1982?

Manufacturers produce cars in the future and put them on the wait list for their big day view. Just like in Knight Rider 2008, the car they used is a 2010 Mustang and they premiered it on 2008.

The switched to an 84 model in a later season. The original was an 81.

@pufthemajicdragon A 82, son. The 81 is the last year of the second generation of Trans Am, which is Burt Reynold's car.

The steering wheel sticking out of the bin is a slap in the face to the fans who know what the original steering wheel looked like.
clarencecmcgee 3 years ago 32
another slap in the face was in the new knight rider pilot, you see the steering wheel laying on a table (if I remember right) and all dusty
I want the trans am back, even though i'm a ford guy IT'S KITT
sgtpepper1138 3 years ago
@clarencecmcgee Its a steering wheel from a Chevy truck or a GMC. LOL
