@andmein You apparently need some brush-up on history: no Slovakian army ever joined WW2 as Allies...of course but why did you think i was speaking about WW2 ? We are talking about Trianon so i considered it is implied that i am talking about WW1.There was no slovak army neither but Czechoslovak legions were "our"army too.THAT was our army having joined victorious side i was talking about.P.S Czechoslovakia was not pan-slav project, I am no SNS fan(it seemed to me you thought that two things)
@andmein slovakization machine broke or something?Isn't it more likely explanation that the initial wave of changes of nationality was simply due to the previous magyarization that caused that many ethnic Slovaks claimed themselves hungarians altough they did not mean it and after the pressure from hungarian institution ceased they switched back to slovaks?Why germans did not have the same decline in numbers after war, did we forgot about them ?
@andmeinfor" Hungarians: they made up more than a third of the population in the part of today Slovakia, which number rapidly diminished thanks to your "most democratic" ways, but they still represent more than 10% of Slovakia's population!"Yes they numbers diminished extremely rapidly isn't it wierd how fast was this decline?but what's more shocking is a fact that after the first strong decline in numbers after war, their percentages remain almost constant.How is that possible, did our slovakiz

@andmein in late 19century)And of course king Matyas Just Corvinus who was half hungarian is one of the most popular persons in folk tales.Still, Trianon and events of 19 century separate us.However, on both sides the more critical views are not uncommon at all, the problem is that politics forming public opinion cherrypick the views that go along with their policies the best,thus slowing down rationalization of .attitudes among people.And yes there is a big gap between historians and SNS
@bednarjozef Probably between historians and Smer too, but i cannot really say that because Fico uses to speak about present-day Hungary.Yes there is a big gap,and Slota knows how to use it this space, but even so, even according to historians not to politics, I do not believe Trianon was unjust, of course it was a harsh cold shower for people just recently hoping to magyarize about twice of their own number of people of different nationalities.
brought misery unknown even in the turkish war and prooved to be weak in maintaining economy.But that is my point of view and has nothing to do with his nationality.In general he is seen rather positively in Slovakia.Maybe you can find something about celebrations that have taken place after 100y after his body was buried in Košice, it was full of slovak politicians of highest level.Than st.Stephen is seen very positively, (but his legacy was so different from the way of thinking of hungurians

"predominantly german city" von der Sprache her: richtig, aber "never hungarian one": Grundfalsch. Habt ihr etwa in der Schule nicht gelernt, dass Pressburg für Jahrhunderte eine Krönungstadt Ungarns war (und nicht etwa Deutschlands)?
"Wether bratislava was slovak or german is between us and german not between us and you."
Of course inhabitants of Pressburg was not subjects of German Emperor, they were subjects of Habsburg monarchy.If they feel "Hungarus"it means they considered themselves to be part of old Hungary, Hungary-the kingdom founded in the late 10th century.Hungarus is not the same thing as Hungarian.
"inhabitants of Pressburg...If they feel "Hungarus"it means they considered themselves to be part of old Hungary"
If being "Hungarus" was really all about the whereabouts, then why didn't they simply and EXCLUSIVELY call themselves "subjects of the Habsburg crown" - which in fact all of them were, as you correctly put it?
Like it or not, someone considering himself as Hungarus was NOT about living on Hungarian soil (and surely not necessarily about being Magyar), but ....
.but rather about being LOYAL to historic Hungary.
Just as definitely NOT everyone living on Hungarian territory felt as Hungarus. Yet "die überwiegende Mehrheit", as I put it, were loyal to the Hungarian Crown for a long time. And it took a great deal of nationalistic agitations to start to change this loyalty.
"if they could choose it is naive to think that majority of germans would choose this poor and bolshevik country."
Well, one thing is for sure: they definitely didn't want to choose Czechoslovakia. In their attempt to prevent the annexation of Pressburg, the Hungarian AND German population declared it a free city. And after the occupation took place, the Germans and Hungarians started an unarmed protest march only to be gunned down cold bloodedly by the heroic Czechoslovak Legions
"you volontarily(and eagerly)joined the war on the side of loosers, while our army on the side of winners."
You apparently need some brush-up on history: no Slovakian army ever joined WW2 as Allies, but rather your 1st Slovak Republic was declared and became the very prototype of a nazi satellite state more than WILLING to serve its master Nazi-Germany! So on whose side were you then??
"if you won the war you would take a land with inhabitants of what nationality?"
So you took Germans and Hungarians into your holy and "supposed to be all-slav" Czechoslovakian wonderland instead! consisting of almost TWICE as many Germans as Slovaks! As for Hungarians: they made up more than a third of the population in the part of today Slovakia, which number rapidly diminished thanks to your "most democratic" ways, but they still represent more than 10% of Slovakia's population!
@andmein It is ok they felt to be part of this kingdom, but since this ceased to exist, it was no longer relevant.In 1919 there were no more Hungarian kingdom of which you could be part:Hungarus. There was only modern-day Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Austria.They felt "Hungarus" because they lived on the soil of Hungarian kingdom, but if they could choose it is naive to think that majority of germans would choose this poor and bolshevik country rather than Austria.
@andmein Anyway, even if they choose to be part of modern-day Hungary, this was decided elsewhere because you volontarily(and eagerly)joined the war on the side of loosers, while our army on the side of winners.This is what happens when you lose war, if you don't like it you should not join it.In 1914 all Hungarians lived inside of Hungary, if you won the war you would take a land with inhabitants of what nationality ?Hardly hungarian one since all of you lived in Hungary.Stop whining it is over
There are facts that you apparently don't want to know about. The whining is done by YOU: your historygraphy eager as hell to SEPARATE Slovakian and Hungarian past still pictures the Slovakian nation "oppressed a 1000 years by its magyar masters" that finally formed its own state in 1993. So you're made to see yourselves as a VICTIM FOR A MILLENIUM only to become independent by some outside help.
@andmein No no, it is true that during 19th century it was how our intelligence saw ourselves, you can read often about 1000-year oppression in novels written in that time, but now the mainstream and serious historian do not say that anymore and recognize that during most of the history of the Hungary nationality was not key factor for anybody.It is true also we still can not forgive what you did in late 19th century but, we are not making tens of videos on youtube about how unjust it was,
@bednarjozef Many Slovaks can not forgive you, but most of us in the same time does not need to talk and accuse you over and over again crying about injustice.We know it was injustice,It is obvious, and even many hungarian historian admit it, but we do not see why we should highlight it so much and live in the past.But to answer your question yes it was whining but it is not mainstream history today.Unlike your stories about Trianon.
"now the mainstream..recognize that during most of the history of the Hungary nationality was not key factor for anybody"
I'm impressed to hear that! That could be a great common ground to start with!
Too bad the majority of your politicians still don't seem to have heard of THAT: to me there seems to be a pretty big GAP between the opinion of a minority (you call it "mainstream") and the widespread popular beliefs so successfully drawn upon by the likes of Fico and, (cont.)
@andmein "That could be a great common ground to start with!" "your historygraphy eager as hell to SEPARATE Slovakian and Hungarian past "Well for example Ferencz Rákoczi is well known figure is Slovakia and here in Košice in particular(sorry i let you think i am from Bratislava)Me personally, I do not like him at all he did not accomplished what he promised, executed those who complained about restrictions of freedom(Onoda) allied himself with Turks(yes it is a crime itself)
and, even if you hate to admit it, Slota! (SNS having the ministry of education for years! Well done!)
"we still can not forgive what you did..but we do not see why we should live in the past"
Fasten your seatbelts: the oppression of nationality movements in Hungary of the late 19th century IS mainstream historigraphy in Hungary. Just as it was written about in our history books for schools in the 80s (just to give you a personal memory).
So you're TO THIS DAY deeply resentful of things happened before the time of your great-great-grandparents! What's that if not living in the past for God's sake? the very thing you accuse the Hungarians of!
Admit it or not: the consequences of Trianon are still vivid to this very day, there's hardly any Hungarian family unaffected by it. Just as everyday Slovakian politics still treats its Hungarian minority as a potential THREAT to state security (see dual citizenship)..
@andmein And the if the city we chose for our capitol had or had not any relation with us is our business. Anyway, in hungarian it is supposed to be Bodnár,bodnár just like kovács is one of many words for things you had not known before you settled down in Panonia so you learned from our ancestors.You welcome, but we are not interested in your names and words, we live here long enough to know what is what.
It is Krásna Hôrka - in english - Beautiful Mountain, no military-political mongol leader, you fool. If you want to steal something, try to learn about it.

You apparently need some brush-up on history: no Slovakian army ever joined WW2 as Allies, but rather your 1st Slovak Republic was declared and became the very prototype of a nazi satellite state more than WILLING to serve its master Nazi-Germany! So on whose side were you then??

@bednarjozef

There was only modern-day Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Austria.They felt "Hungarus" because they lived on the soil of Hungarian kingdom, but if they could choose it is naive to think that majority of germans would choose this poor and bolshevik country rather than Austria.
bednarjozef 6 months ago
@andmein Anyway, even if they choose to be part of modern-day Hungary, this was decided elsewhere because you volontarily(and eagerly)joined the war on the side of loosers, while our army on the side of winners.This is what happens when you lose war, if you don't like it you should not join it.In 1914 all Hungarians lived inside of Hungary, if you won the war you would take a land with inhabitants of what nationality ?Hardly hungarian one since all of you lived in Hungary.Stop whining it is over

@bednarjozef
What's that, if not whining??
andmein 5 months ago
@andmein No no, it is true that during 19th century it was how our intelligence saw ourselves, you can read often about 1000-year oppression in novels written in that time, but now the mainstream and serious historian do not say that anymore and recognize that during most of the history of the Hungary nationality was not key factor for anybody.It is true also we still can not forgive what you did in late 19th century but, we are not making tens of videos on youtube about how unjust it was,
bednarjozef 5 months ago

@bednarjozef
and, even if you hate to admit it, Slota! (SNS having the ministry of education for years! Well done!)
"we still can not forgive what you did..but we do not see why we should live in the past"
Fasten your seatbelts: the oppression of nationality movements in Hungary of the late 19th century IS mainstream historigraphy in Hungary. Just as it was written about in our history books for schools in the 80s (just to give you a personal memory).
andmein 5 months ago
@bednarjozef

Verstehst du das Bednár József aus "Wilsonovo mesto"?
andmein 6 months ago
@andmein And the if the city we chose for our capitol had or had not any relation with us is our business. Anyway, in hungarian it is supposed to be Bodnár,bodnár just like kovács is one of many words for things you had not known before you settled down in Panonia so you learned from our ancestors.You welcome, but we are not interested in your names and words, we live here long enough to know what is what.

Kraszna is a name
Horka was a military-political leader of Hungarians.
