Everytime I drive from my parents house in Northern Va to NN I play this song and it gets me pumped so much. Thanks for the song guys. Absolutely love relating to it!
I just wanted to let you guys know how terrific you were at the University of Akron performance last week. You guys sounded terrific, and you just played a fabulous set. I will definitely be buying the albums. Keep up the terrific work!
I lived in Michigan for 10 years and I used to crank this song every time I crossed the state line back into Virginia! Awesome song. . . video leaves something to be desired however.
@ecugirll I agree! I get homesick every year about this time and had never actually seen this video. I was wanting to see shots of VA, even some signs along 64 but nada. Still a great song, I just know know to turn it on, crank it up and let my mind supply the video.
I grew up on South Norfolk, Virginia. Went to high school in Williamsburg,VA and bumped into the Blessid Union of Souls by accidentally finding them laying on top and inside their van by walking behind the stage that Z104 set up for them in the Sunken Garden of the College of William and Mary. Funny thing the same place I shook Bruce Hornsby's hand. I miss when I was young, free, and having fun. Now I'm a busy mother in Ohio.
Don't matter where they are, just that their music is awesome. Love Blessed Union of Souls and always will. Keep on playing this song whenever im down and whenever I can
This caused me to move back to Hampton in 1997, I grew up In Richmond before moving to Maryland when I was ten and I then went to college from 1988-1993 in Hampton. I love this song, you got to experience that drive down 64 or better yet 301 to rte 17. I think they're a great band to.
I lived in Chesapeake, Va Beach and Norfolk for 11 years (1988-1999)... I was living there when this song came out, and it's been one of my faves as well... 25 MILES TO HAMPTON ROADS!
The record label at the time was EMI and they had us shoot this North East of LA. The tree shots were in some canyon out side of Hollywood. But Virginia was definitely on our minds!
As a native of Newport News, I LOVE this song! I crank it up, every time I cross the boarder, into Virginia. Thank you for including us in your world.
We love Virginia. We played a club as a cover band called Slamm in Newport News at a place called Steamers. It was owned by Mark and Steve Breen. It was on Jefferson Ave. I miss that place.
Hey blessid union members, I still have your Home cassette LOL, it's one album i really listened to

How many harmonica players are in this video, and, as to the song, how many harmonica tracks are there (counting overdubs)?

I grew up in Cincy and spent most of my life there. Nice big city with hometown values. (Unless you end up in OTR at the wrong time of night...)

To those from the area; which do you prefer: 1)The Seven Cities 2)Tidewater 3)Hampton Roads? I vote #2.
dramaends 3 years ago
I always prefered Hampton Roads honestly, but that is the one I grew up hearing more than anything.

Tidewater - that is where I grew up. Hampton roads - lame. Seven cities, don't know that one.
