whats with everyone thinkin its a 22?? who is seriously guna pay 1,100 to put a can on a 22, plus anyone who has ever shot an ar that is .223 0r 5.56 knows there realy isnt much recoil to begin with put a can on it, hardly any recoil because your muzzle presure is being greatly reduced you dont hear much, mostly what you hear is the supersonic bullet, AND if it were 22 you wouldnt hear s*** just the bolt functioning, i bet half thease comments from people havent even shot a gun, thnks callofduty

@VerbalFlow well true if you buy a lesser quality can, but after tax stamp of 200 thats now 750 which is whatever, i have the titanium phantom from yhm payd 930 for the can and on top of that a 200 doller tax stamp equaling a lil over 1155.. so in general most are between 500 and 700 with out the tax stamp required... its like saying ar15s only cpst 1000... thet varry alot in price, i figured if im guna do something nfa im guna make the most of it

@latdum Basically, its pretty easy. When the ammunition expands (so, after the primer been hit by the hammer), the projectile is moved forward. However, there is much pressure (which, for example, also works the cycling process). This gas also moves forward. At the end of the barrel, the gas expands, and forms the so called "bullet flash". When expanding, the gas over-reaches the speed of sound, therefore, you get the supersonic-bang.

@latdum A suppressor (_not_ a silencer, as the shot will never be totally quiet), however, slows down the expanded gas in the various chambers, making it moving to slow to become super-sonic. Also, most of the flash become invisible. I apologize for my - sometimes - bad english.

its a .223, silencers make the casing eject weirdly. reasons are the gas repressed in the silencer travel back to the source and pockets in the casing making it heavier, the ejection mechinism pulls it and releases making the shell FRONT HEAVY> going outward. all weapons with a silencer act different. and a .223 isnt that short either., play it slow buds. trust me on this i have silenced weapons that act very much the same. my bushmaster .308 doesnt even eject brass with a silencer. its science.

Two things give away that its a .22.

First, play it in 1080p and see the shell casings for yourself.

Secondly, .223 subsonic rounds don't generate enough energy to cycle the action of AR-15.

@azbrc1984 Did you notice how the shells are being ejected forward? I have only ever seen the forward cycling of a 22 through a shell forward. Every 223 I have ever owned, shot, or have seen shoot always ejects the brass directly to the side or backwards.

@azone06 You can change the angle it throws the brass easily. One way is the can, or anything else that alters the cyclic rate (i.e. different weight buffers, different gas lengths, f/a bolt). You typically want it to throw around 90 degrees, but it obviously still runs fine.

silencer and suppressor are often reffered to as the same thing, surpressers just muffle the noise or make it not sound like a gunshot but more like dropping something.

What a palaver! Here in Scotland that is one of the things that is relatively simple. Add it to your firearm certificate (I want it to stop me going deaf) and buy it. No tax and they cost around £200 ($300?) Helps you to avoid disturbing the neighbours when you are hunting as well.

You are correct, depending on the make and model of the silencer depends on the loudness. Also, ammo plays a big role in loudness wether or not is factory ammo loaded hot or reloads that are loaded light.

First of all it's a suppressor, secondly it doesn't change the sound waves to a frequency that is not able to be heard by humans. A suppressor is simply a tube with baffles and holes to slowly release the high pressure gases over a period of time, compared to the gases being released all at once without a suppressor. Just like slowly draining the air out of a balloon instead of popping it. I also wouldn't be calling people dumbshit when you have no idea what your talking about.
