For all of you wondering, here are the songs in order:
1. Chopin Winter Wind Etude Op. 25 no. 11
2. Starts as first movement of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto, then he switches it into finale of Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto, it actually blends together very well :)
3. (With the kid) A tiny bit of Mozart's Turkish March
Again. For Lang Lang to use music as his forum to insight some political agenda is unacceptable - let alone express that by reciting another composers written works. If this man wishes to use such method - insure that he uses his own composition. Let's truly see how that method will stand. It's like having Andrew Lloyd Weber use Disney compositions to claim injustice against the 1 percent.
The only thing I like about Lang Lang is that he´s a really human person, he wants to do things that ´´normal´´ persons would also do. Many pianist think the world of themselves, and feel to good to do something like ´´normal people´´. At least, not where everyone can see it.
@alejandrothefader ...no hating, only judging...we are out brothers' keepers, so we are all, including myself, our brothers' judges, no way of escaping that, even if we wanted to...
@fredericfranc I agree. The greatest pianist of all times- Vladamir Horowitz. Arthur Rubenstein. Just play the freaking piano- this isn't a piano/sign language recital.
you think you know music and then you hear something as beautiful and emotive as a piece by Chopin - when it's played right in front of your eyes, yeah you just stare and keep quiet - what else can you do?
The kids don't look bored, I think they are more in awe because they have probably never seen anyone play piano like that. This what makes Lang Lang amazing, not the fact that he has such a God given talent, but that he has no problem doing this. He inspires many to start, pursue, and continue the art of music.
@auntiepicklebottom if it motivates children to play, then paint it! why does classical music need to be stuffy? i would paint mine pink and yellow if it got more people playing! I wear pink docs when I teach and kids love em! its about brightening up the world!
Why does that guy have to leave on the piano like a tool... respect the pianist and allow him a little space to breath and play so everyone else can enjoy too..,
@teccomin yes i noticed that! it seems he has his serious face on but knows the audience love him for his faces so it is part of his gimmick, never mind i suppose we all have to make a living
@xxR4CH3Lxxp i mean its not a czerny etude after all its written by chopin, and chopin's etudes are not to be played like traditional etudes you know what i mean? even though they're called studies they are emotional pieces and a true pianist would bring out its musicality rather than technical difficulty, like i said anyone can move their fingers fast, its just a matter of knowing the notes. thats just my opinion iight
@superman1113215 True, but still, look at the situation he's in. A piano in what looks to be a car park surrounded by a few kids. He's just messing around. That said, who's to say he's not playing with emotion? I know that when I play I don't roll my eyes and sway in my seat, but that doesn't mean I don't play with emotion.

...THIS is how LL should perform, on the street like this, for this kind of an audience, BUT NOT in any concert hall, right?...
