Ty.
@rockgor sorry to bother ye but in the first verse the writer (Jimmy McCarthy) is talking about his mother and in the second verse his father, i seen him interveiwed on tv.
When i was Just 5 years old, this was the song that i used to sing everyday. I knew all the words off and would sing it in the backseat of the car. I'm 13 now and i still sing it. I love it and it makes me cry to think of all the memories.
i love this song me an my bro always sing it 2gether cuz its my mams fave song :P she wants me an him 2sing it at her funeral please god that wont be for another 50 years :) love u mam xxxx
everyone of note has sung this one, always a great crowd pleaser. kudos to the writer,... a true classic. Time for a big re do, this song is not ready for bed yet.

Nice tune. The lyrics are somewhat confusing. Starts out talking about
his girlfriend and ends up (apparently) talking about Jesus.
Tnx 4 posting.

Oh, that's interesting. Certainly wouldn't know all that from the lyrics. Have
to see if I can find some other songs by Jimmy.

@ivanbrolly thats not quite true. on the late late interview he was referring to the song no frontiers
