i'm bassist too.my dream is to play like jaco.i practise in every free time.i play about 8 years.best effect is to take amphetamine and play all time.i can't stop.i played last 8 years hard days and nights.for this moment i'm glad, because i play in best band in my town.but as we all know the man learn by all life.i love to trip with notes and melodys on my guitar.i always wonder how far I can go.this is pure joy!also Syd Barrett was great tripper.rip Jaco & Syd [*] [*] thanks for inspirations!!!
When gods like to have some fun on earth, they disguise as some peculiar mexican shamanas and play e.g. the bass like the devil himself. Then they attract attention with an incredibly quirky biography and go to phut as the least thing on earth – e.g. on a cross or at the fist of a doorman. And as usual, they end up somewhere unknown. And even if there's one of them among all the others, that seems so be completely "normal": Don't fall for it! It's just the same thing, just the other way round!
@pibroch actually it is you who are very wrong... The artist who was playing wanted it on 2 and 4!!! you can't argue with that! Clapping belongs on 2 & 4 with the music that Jaco loved also...
@justdiemodell just admit this: he sounds like he has been playing bass for only about 5:49 in his entire life. what rubbish. im confident he has never picked up the bass before shooting this video. what a wanker.
@TheQualifiedCritic Les claypool and Jaco are both amazing fuckin bassists but there two totally different genres so don't try to compare them at all. and Jaco might i add is one of the most legendary bassists of all time and if u can't accept that well go fuck yourself :)
@markanenberg It is definitely Funky Broadway... That tune was a huge early influence for Jaco when her first started playing bass many years ago... He talks about it in his "Hudson Music Modern Electric Bass" instructional video.
@giunny96 This is Wilson Pickett's Funky Broadway. Jaco's interpretation here is awesome, I love it! He slows it down and adds a little of everything. The percussion is there along with the horn section; all done on the bass. Another great performance by the Master of the electric bass. Rock on Jaco.
@casanodrums I don't agree with you... different crowds the world over clap differently.... after listening to live bootlegs for the last 20 years i learned that
@casanodrums I strongly disagree: clappin on 1 and 3 is more contrapuntal to Jaco's playing and sounds cool - clappin' on 2 and 4 sounds lame but obviously much easier for Jaco to play with. The audience had it right the first time and would hardly be the unsophisticates you seem to imagine.

Ahh... this is great stuff! Actually I'm quite sure I've heard that loop
sampled for a house or techno record, got to have been back in
the good'ol' nineties. A Dutch release, perhaps? Fresh Fruit Records?
Can't remember... I'd like to have this shit on record though!
