I was very interested to hear this piece for the first time. It is written for quite an unusual combination.

Franz Liszt wanted to become the new Palestrina. Pope Pius IX, who was a friend of Liszt's, in fact used to address him as "my little Palestrina!"

PS: Liszt was over six feet in height.
