I want to hear this without all of the computer effects. The computer effects RUIN IT!!! They can do things with their voices that sound better than what the computer can do.
Disappointed, love Pentatonix, not this studio made stuff, and don't like their interpretation of this song either, this sound belongs somewhere else.
They can easily make alterations in the studio to enhance the track. If you run voices through different filter to make them sound more like an instrument like a distortion filter to make it sound like an electric guitar, a wah-wah effect to make it sound like a synth.
I do think it's the original 5 that makes all the sounds, as I don't detect any additional voices, although reverb was liberally applied.
This is the whole group. It's just more clearer on here than the show. It's all 5, I believe they are all singing harmony, then Scott sang over everything. It also is acapella, they are just that great of a group that they can do it. Avi and Kevin are truly amazing, the sounds that they make are incredible! When doing a recording, everything is mastered and crisp. It's completely different than doing it live. Here they get to record and re-record it until they have it perfect. That's wh
...i don't know, i have listened to this so many times in the last day and am torn about if they have added other sounds. i feel like i need to see it live - but it's totally possible that it's just the five of them. there are just some weird effects i can't quite place...
Yeah... I listened for it again and I still just don't hear either Kevin or Avi. I hear a bass vocal but it doesn't have the same timbre as Avi's (if anything listen at 1:42... that's the same effect that Avi consistently does with harmonic singing, but that is NOT harmonic singing) voice and I'd be willing to bet a pretty penny at 2:1 that isn't Kevin's beatboxing (listen to the "kick" it's way more tinny than Kevin's).
I still think it's just the three of them. Note: Mitch can beatbox.
i like this song, though it's pretty evident their voices are layered over each other... not to say anything bad about pentatonix (because I LOVE them), but they do lack a middle that gives this much depth to their songs live.
As long as they keep going the way they have, they are probably going to win. They are (individually and as a group) just to good!
So the availability of "studio-magic" and the sheer talent of Kevin and Avi makes it difficult to determine... but I'm pretty sure this is neither Pentatonix nor A Capella.
This sounds to me like it might just be Kristen, Mitch, and Scott singing over the top of a synthesizer.
@laurabethlaw Actually, I can clearly hear Kevin and Avi on this track. All their voices are digitally mastered (or whatever the correct terminology is) so they sound like synthesizer. Also, it sounds like each person's voice is layered multiple times. During the chorus, however, I do hear more of that synthesizer sound though.
Love Pentatonix! I do find it sooo funny how there is always a "Heyyyy" run that Scott does in almost every song! lol Love themmm!

I really like it even though it might not be a complete a capella. Obviously the "3 kings" are Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch

They HAVE to win. They need a recording contract. Get them in the studio and I will buy every track they release.
