The private health care and insurance industry in the United States is a much larger, and more expensive bureaucracy than Medicare is. That's what people don't get.....they're taught to automatically assume that private is more efficient and government is not....that's not necessarily true. The cost of private health insurance is 33% admin., for Medicare, it's 3%. And the health care bill the House passed would REDUCE the deficit. Do some research, and don't assume you have it figured out.
And we would not be in such serious debt without the military industrial complex and two wars. And a prescription drug bill that was pretty much just a pharma corporate windfall. Why don't you actually look at a budget and look at how much of discretionary spending is social services. Not very much.
You do realize that Social Security is paid for by FICA taxes, and not income taxes, right? And if Social Security went away, so would FICA taxes, so that would not change the deficit, or the debt. You do get that, right? Medicare taxes are separate as well, but some of that is part of the deficit because of the stupid prescription drug plan the Rethugs shoved down our throats in 2003, without it being paid for.

Let Obama impose all of his agenda in one: Universal healthcare, cap n trade, large epa with major regulations, high taxes for the rich & businesses while the majority pay little or no tax. Very few of today's colleges are worth anything, except for maybe Liberty, Oral Roberts, Regents, Bob Jones, Calvin College, or Hope College. You're better off getting a hands on education at a trade school or in the military, or just plain learning on the job. The Navy worked fine for me.

When exactly did I say the government wasn't involved in Medicare? I said it's a single payer system. That's not socialism. If you think it is, you either don't know what socialism is or you don't know what a single payer system is.

You probably don't want to get in a back and forth with 2010GOP, I wasted hours doing that. Even after I READ all of his sources, which PROVED he was incorrect ... it was futile.
He doesn't want to have a discussion .... he wants to "win", and if previous experience is any indication ... then he'll either quote things out of context, or misrepresent a majority of the facts to suit an agenda.
Though it was interesting to discover the Holdren lie, or find the "death panel" lie.

The socialist party or the NDP party in Canada is for bettering puncheons and so on not full blown poll pot or red square and 14% of voters support them and the Conservative party won in the last election won with 35%.

the state of Michigan does go nuts when there is talk about raising taxes and Canada is a small country with only 33 million pop but there is a problem when you dismiss someone argument because they are in small Nonentity country? If a Nonentity country came up with a good idea the larger country should not use it and for the social services there are no caps for the social services for example in Canada the services such as healthcare have budgets and limits

@JackFrost026 There is a 500 word limit and like the topic budgets some things you must go without you can read without commas and ex. But the previous rebottle had more to it but I had to cut it down because of the 500 letter limit. The fallowing is what I left out.
There was a comment about Canadian universities being below standard/ non important and I wanted to point out there are still some American universitys/ collages that have course entitled the happy slave.

He does have good ideas. This country would not be in as serious of a debt if there weren't so many social services. I know that it is a "good thing", and I'm not criticizing medicare and the like, but those types of programs make up more than half of the budget and they create gigantic bureaucracies. The libertarians have good ideas, it would just be hard to make them a reality. The problem with the healthcare as far as I see is that this is simply not a good time for it due to the debt...

The private health care and insurance industry in the United States is a much larger, and more expensive bureaucracy than Medicare is. That's what people don't get.....they're taught to automatically assume that private is more efficient and government is not....that's not necessarily true. The cost of private health insurance is 33% admin., for Medicare, it's 3%. And the health care bill the House passed would REDUCE the deficit. Do some research, and don't assume you have it figured out.

And we would not be in such serious debt without the military industrial complex and two wars. And a prescription drug bill that was pretty much just a pharma corporate windfall. Why don't you actually look at a budget and look at how much of discretionary spending is social services. Not very much.

You do realize that Social Security is paid for by FICA taxes, and not income taxes, right? And if Social Security went away, so would FICA taxes, so that would not change the deficit, or the debt. You do get that, right? Medicare taxes are separate as well, but some of that is part of the deficit because of the stupid prescription drug plan the Rethugs shoved down our throats in 2003, without it being paid for.

Oh don't get me wrong, Canada's politics are very boring and pretty much just as stubborn as the USA's, just like you said no one knows about it cause its Canada, unless you have any education or a degree which by your stupidity I'm guessing not your cup of tea. Anyway I was more so referring to the republican viewpoint on life, although I support the wars to a certain extent (except 92% civilian casualties) regardless, I hope Obama stays in office for the sake of the US, since our country

You complain about your countrys dept and you still want lower taxes. You have very low taxes for example (in sales tax) Canada 8-13% Brittan 18% and Russia 30%, you need to look farther than the media and party propaganda, " socalist" take the time 1-6 hours a week and go to the government web sites and see whats in the bills (ear marks) and whats happening/ being discussed in the gov because news does not cover it all only the entertaining/ rating boosting stories ex death pannels

I commented on this on Friday because MSNBC was having a baby over this. As a right of center, Obama was on point and it was refreshing. However, aside from his smooth demeanor while answering, and he answered it very well, the first question from the host of the event it was not that eventful after that. Think of a presidential debate. They are usually boring and they throw around numbers that neither side(the citizen) knows for sure about.

Regardless, throw in health care systems on google and take a good hard look at where the USA is rated. Its almost entertainment. I only get fox news through some digital cable thing and watching their circus is almost as entertaining as the comment by Trajan. Now our prime minister Harper isn't the greatest and has many flaws along with our government but listening to people bash Obama is absolutely hilarious. You call it a socialist agenda, you need to spend some time in a history class or political science class which I currently am taking at McMaster university in Ontario.

I'm with ready. Because he used facts to place everything he said and pointed out every single flaw in the GOP's issues. So much so that Fox news (now for its GOP support) cut out the last 20 minutes. When asked by the rep why? They simply said for ratings and because people expect fair and balanced news. Which, if that were true and it wasn't because the president was showing flaws of the GOP, they would left it on. so please, enlighten me.
