What about two trumpets? One on each side of the church, or better yet an outside wedding on either side of the area answering the song back and forth?!?!
@nascarchanger Yeah, that's pretty cool, too. I often play, weddings, church services, and other jobs with two herald trumpets like that. Sometimes, I even play jobs for 4 herald trumpets. I once did a grand opening with 8 herald trumpeters. This Sunday, I'll be playing two Easter services for 2 herald trumpets (+ organ, + choir, etc.)
This is great, you are really really good, is there any chance I could buy a CD of it, this is EXACTLY what I want at my wedding and I haven't found a better version anywhere?
Wagner was an atheist so they don't play this song at weddings in churches, also Hitler used his music so that doesn't exactly bring up his reputation for churches
Not quite true--you don't have all of the facts straight. Wagner always considered himself a Christian, although there were some "Christian values" that he did not adhere to during much of his life (issues such as marriage fidelity, racism.) Later in his life, he "found Jesus" again and became more pious (which explains his late opera, Parsifal.) Hitler, like many people before and after him, liked Wagner's music and used it for propaganda, but Wagner was dead and didn't know about it.
It is true that many churches still discourage or even prohibit the use of Wagner's music in their services because of Wagner's spotty moral history. However, many church leaders agree that Wagner, like all other humans, was not perfect, but that his music is beautiful and brilliant. In spite of Hitler's propaganda use of Wagner's music during WWII, and in spite of Wagner's antisemitism, Wagner's music is now being performed again in Israel. Hitler liked chocolate--Should we give that up too?
You're welcome! What your music teacher said was partly correct, but not the whole story. If you are interested in learning more about Wagner--his life, his personality, and his music--read the biographical article about him in the latest edition of The New Grove Dictionary of Music & Musicians, available at any fine library or online (with subscription). Wikipedia also has a pretty decent shorter article about Wager that is also pretty good and it is available online for free, of course.
This is great! Could you by any chance be able to send me the tabs on how to play this song please? I need to play this song at wedding and would greatly appreciate the tremendous help, thank you
Will do. I hope to have time at some point in the future to record a CD featuring this piece and other wedding standards. The problem is that this project has been delayed so many times do to the fact that I keep getting too many gigs, so I am constantly working and doing only things that absolutely must get done immediately. I will let you know when the recording finally materializes, though. Thanks again for your kind comments. : )
I am glad that you enjoyed it--I am hoping to record a CD of "Wedding Favorites" at some point in the future. However, that project has been put on hold indefinitely due to lack of time (presently involved with too many other projects and activities.) I'll let you know when the recording finally becomes available.
any chance you are going to make a recording of this or can I get a CD. I am in love with this bridal march and I am going to be renewing my vows soon!!
I'm hoping my elementary/middle school band teacher will play his trumpet at my wedding. I haven't decided between this version or Prince Of Denmark yet...yours is lovely though :)
GRANDE!
Thank you, Claude. That compliment really means a lot to me, coming from you, because you are such an incredibly wonderful musician. I greatly admire you as a guitarist, composer, and musician in general. Not only do you have the best guitar videos on YouTube, but you are also my favorite guitarist of all time. Keep on producing more outstanding music, my friend!
Glad you like it! My fanfare isn't published yet, but if you are hiring a professional trumpet player for your wedding, you can have them watch and listen to this video, and they should be able to figure out how to play it easily enough. Best wishes to you!
Thank you so much for the nice compliment! Are you looking to buy a recording, sheet music? At the moment, neither are available for purchase. I am hoping to soon record a CD of my favorite wedding music selections (will include this piece), and will also be publishing my arrangement that is heard here. Hopefully both will be available by summers end. Ill keep you posted.
I really love this wedding entrance. any chance you know where I can buy this version from for our wedding. I'm having a hard time finding the right version. Thanks.
i first found a video of a rock version of the wedding song,
i like rock music, but since i have a military wedding, this is MUCH more apropriate, thats why i am using this song tomorow, thanx for the upload here,
I watched your other version with the other musicians showing. I like both versions, but this one seems more majestic, but yet simple, which is great. It is not intimidating for the rest of us who don't play the trumpet. I also liked the theatrical props and other shots.
Thank you so much, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing the information about your use of this song in Jakarta and Indonesia. That's very interesting!
Several years ago, I had recorded this piece (but with a different fanfare) on a CD, but the CD is now out of print. I am planning on recording a new CD with this piece and other popular traditional wedding music favorites in the (hopefully) very near future. I'm hoping to release the new CD by the end of this summer.
Well, that music must have worked okay, since you have been married for 38 years. I hope that you enjoy many more happy years together. Thank you for the lovely comment.
Amazing! Its amazing! Thats all I can say. I marry my best friend and the only girl that I have ever loved in August. I am having this song played for her as she walks down the aisle.
This was really intended to be more of a trumpet demo video, so we recorded it with the trumpet louder (and closer to the mic than the organ was) on purpose. When time finally permits, I hope to record some trumpet and organ pieces in some big church sanctuaries and organ recital halls with more of a concert feel (and mix.)
Thanks for the compliment. Even more of a challenge is playing those high notes on a herald trumpet where the notes are coming out so far away from you! Keep up the trumpet playing, my friend: You'll be glad that you did. High school band is cool! Or any other type of band also, for that matter. (I started out playing the cornet and trumpet in school bands also.)
