  • @futuremodal the translation is online... I think its best to go with what u feel and see with this song/vid because the lyrics dont directly apply to the vid. The music does though. Brings tears to my eyes each time. Just wallow in the emotions it stirred and be satisfied ;)

  • did the last one fall?

  • Wow...that is all I can say. <3

  • snee lorrr bleerrr

  • This song is the fateful one and then... I fell in love with Sigur Ros. I tried to think about what kind of music is this one comparable to, but i realized that despite of my wide range of music taste, huge music cheering I have never heared something like that. This is how I imagine the angels make music.

  • @TheYellowCocoon Angels don't exist. Grow up, and stop believing in childish drivel.

  • @JonnyCashmore Why would i do something so stupid like growing up? If everybody does so than music and art itself would be already dead, can't you see what is this song about? To stay a child inside helps me to do amazing things in my life, my friend, and noone will ever ruin this for me :)

  • brilliant music, brilliant band and all this in a brilliant video

  • @futuremodal

yet most of our American videos only show ass, and tits. Makes sense.

  • @futuremodal duhhhhhh! They aren't singing in any language my friend. Your comment is why stupid ignorant Americans should be silenced from making obtuse and ridiculous statements about things they can't possibly begin to comprehend.

  • @JonnyCashmore shhh. no hate, no insults here.

  • wow

  • Sigur Ros has inspired me in so many ways,I can't even explain.Their music is beautiful and unlike many I've heard, their videos and the cinematography in them is breathtaking.

I really appreciate their meaningful work! :D

  • When i heard this video for the first time it opened my mind up to music, life and everything. I'm now a huge Sigur Ros fan. Jokingly, they might be to music what marmite is to food, but when you get it, you really get it. Special, powerful, magical music.

  • this made me cry. Beautiful vid!

  • oh my god,

    it made me cry ^^

  • The last kid doesn't die. Look at his shirt and when you see the faces of the kids you see the same shirt. Trust me I went back a few times. The way the music cuts off like that when he jumps makes it seem like he fell, but if you watch it then you will see he didn't

  • yeah that got me too, i had to rewatch it, u can see his smile, telling you he isnt, they could of done a better job, but this video and cinematography is down right amazing, best music video that i have ever seen.

  • yeah, but for all you know he can be falling to his own death and not know it. he might feel like he's flying and that's why he's smiling, but he really could be falling...

  • The director said he did not fall. End of discussion.

  • well thanks for telling me...

  • Galdra: the director said he did not fall for him (read the whole sentence?) and that it was left ambiguous on purpose.

What makes you biject artwork to a specific interpretation anyway? So you've "understood it to grips" and put it on a shelf, happy? I like the opposite. Explore worlds of emotion that it inspires, the richer and more diverse, the better.

Would you now please look up Saeglopur video and tell if the kid drowned or he survived? :D And Untitled #1 (Vaka)? And Svefn-g-englar?

  • And no soup for you too!

  • This was my interpretation, as well.

  • Awesome video.

  • nice vid

  • excelent =')

  • Thanks a lot, MMD :)

    LSP

  • For You Lars..:)...:)

  • The leader(drummer) makes up a dream; then the young brave(tiger) young lady and the other follow. The non-believer dies. Purest form of art. Inspiring greatness

  • are u sure that the little kid who dies is supposed to be a non-believer? i mean, isn't it because he stopped before jumping off the cliff?

  • he doesn't die. you see him closeup flying with the other kids. look closely.

  • This video is an epic - Haunting, Beautiful and Heart-Warming. 5/5

  • i love this band, song, video. And fer all who ask the language he's singing in is a made-up one, made-up by them. Awesome

  • not true... this song, as well as some others, are actually in icelandic -- glosoli, or "glowing sun", actually has real lyrics that you can look up online if you'd like, in both icelandic and english

  • really? hmmm....not wat i heard, but thats awesome, how do u know? and wat website can i go 2 to get the lyrics?

  • here's the website.. ww -DOT- alwaysontherun -DOT- net -BACKSLASH- sigur -DOT- htm

their album ( ) was done completely in hopelandic, however, the rest of their albums are either entirely in icelandic or a mix of the two

hope that helps clear some things up :)

  • thanks

  • if you like this kinda stuff you should maybe check out some old Brit shoegaze stuff from the early 90's? maybe slowdive? worth a look on youtube if you have 5 minutes! Just a suggestion..

  • kool, thanks

  • exacto no importa el idioma solo tienes que creer como dice luvblake just believe sientela es un viaje increible

  • cool! check them out in Screaming Masterpiece!! They're awesome in that one!

  • ben deliyim

  • its so beautiful ...but wats the language

  • ily this!!

    itz so beautiful

    Alice xx

  • they only used 'hopelandic' for one album didnt they, hardly a language, its noises to fit the song, some of the 'lyrics' words were created afterwards by fans, fuckin awesome stuff!

  • They also sing in a speacial language, 'hopelandic'.

  • its not there own language, It's icelandic isnt it?

  • they sing in both languages on this album. in the last album ( ) it was all hopelandic, in this one it's a mix. this song is a mix of both.

  • I don't see a scar. I think it's her glove.

  • sigur ros doesn't write songs in english. they have their own language, if you can believe it. it's pretty amazing.

  • is this song even in english? i can't really hear it.

  • Notice the long scar on the first girl's wrist?

  • Did u notice some dot in the horizon in the end? Like an Island, or something.

  • I just figured the dot was the last kid, washed up on the shore. He'll probably wake up with a terrible headache and say "Whoa, what the heck was THAT about!"

  • He may have dies, he may not. The lady and the tiger all over again. fucking perfect. such bliss and beauty in tragedys strife.

  • most beautiful kids i've ever seen.

  • I noticed that the director has a shot of two people kissing in each of his Sigur Ros videos. Without trying to read two much into it, I think its so the audience can see how each is unique. It says something different different when the two little kids kiss in this video, as opposed to the two gay boys kissing, opposed to the mentally retarded people kissing in the field, opposed to the kids with the gas masks touching the tubes to their masks together, etc.

  • just imagine when these kids are all adults, and looking back and seeing themselves in this beautifully obtuse piece of artwork. so jealous

  • damn... did the last kid who jumped, die?

It seems like if he couldn't fly

  • im taking a wild stab at it, but if u look at the other kids, they never hesitated to jump. The last kid did so I think he died.

  • best vide i ever seen..love

  • Awesome. Love this album! Thank you

  • wow!

  • When I went to Iceland, I couldn't put into words the great place it is. This does. I love you Sigur Ros, and I love you Iceland. From the western U.S., Love.

  • I love this video..

  • the pubescent sexuality was kinda disgusting. but otherwise simply beautiful!

  • THAT'S the first thing you thought about after seeing this video? How tragic.

  • Pubescent sexuality? Like when they kiss and when they hold hands? That's disgusting to you?

What a sad world you must live in where something so charming is disgusting.

  • Fantastico

  • excelent!!

  • This song always gives me goosebumps. Music that truly makes you feel like you are floating. What an amazing band.

  • sigur ros luv this band talk about another realm lets go with sigur ros!!!

  • one of the most inspiring creative pieces I've ever seen. A true picture of risk and faith...amazing.

  • This is the best music video ever made!

Really a motion picture masterpiece. We studied this video in film class at my Cinema University.

    And is in islandic!!!!

  • yeah, sigur ros is one of my favorite bands ever and i am a metal fan...like...for real metal...not that ACDC and Metallica bullshit. Brain Drill, Beneath The Massace, Necrophagist, JFAC...that kind...but sigur ros is the music of gods

  • now we are 2 metal/sigur ros lovers

  • I don't see the deep symbolism as beautiful but actually as the self destructive habits of war u see the kids all get riled up and follow the drummer boy (obvious symbol of war) then they go far in search of glory or whatever and jump of a cliff in hopes to soar seems to me to that they will temped fate to get glory under the leadership of a drummer, so maybe I over analyzed it but seems like a mediphor of war

  • yup, i think you over analyzed it.

  • Wow. Not every work of art is an anti-war message.

  • Whenever I see this video, I always think it's like Peter Pan. He's leading all the lost kids to Neverland.

  • why are the 2 little girls kissing? just curious...

  • It is a boy and a girl. The girl goes to a Music school in Reykjavik and the boy is from a local theatre. I think his name was Siggi... and I don't remember her name if I knew it at all.

  • The drummer boy's name is Siggi, that's correct!

  • the little kid doesnt fall if You look close ...there's a close up of his face smiling while is flying..u can notice that cuz his wearing that strange hat =)

  • by far the most moving and beautiful video i've seen in a very long time

  • It's an allegory. Maybe they grow up and meet their fates and soar toward adulthood. Maybe there is always someone who falls. They didn't look back.

  • i love this video...

  • What's with the kid at the end who falls, is this supposed to be the Icelandic equivalent of the Pied Piper of Hamlyn? Beautiful video and song anyway.

  • they all lay down and go to sleep... so, is the jumping off of the cliff a dream?

  • really they are musians musicians

  • I love this video...Sigur Ros are surely one of the best bands ever...no doubt about it

  • I love this video...Sigur Ros are surely one of the best bands ever...no doubt about it

  • the little one is so cute where can i find the full vid?

  • My youth group leader used this as a metafore for leadership. It works amazingly well. Overall, it's just an amazing video.

  • there's also a third version which they show on Classic FM TV of all places, where the last little boys jump/fall is cut out completely.

  • Actually this version has a part missing from it. The kid didn't fall and die, he just had a little trouble learning to fly and in the full version they show him flying up and joining the rest.

  • I've watched this video too much, and I still haven't seen it enough. I'm a Death and Gore Metal fan, but Sigur Ros is my favorite band. Their songs and videos still give me shivers. Amazing shit.

  • I'm a metal fan too and I LOVE sigur ros....lol

  • supermodel kids?

  • hahaha they are very good looking kids

  • the drummer boy is really cute!

  • god, that videoclip is the best i've ever seen..

it's a real masterpiece. i was about to cry

  • good point captainsharkey!

  • I took it to mean that these kids are like the "spirits" of Iceland leaving (Water, Fire, Earth, etc) Like the Drummer realizes that Iceland had changed, and it was just time to go. Like the Elves leaving Middle Earth at the end of the 3rd Age. The little one was too attached to leave(?) so falls. I won't insist upon the idea though

  • The kissing part is so touching in my opinion. And lamia126, i think most kids r able to fly but the last one the little one was sorta... falling.. instead of flying.. it's unclear and it makes it interesting.

  • one of the most moving music videos i have ever seen

  • The video would have been much better if the kids had just fallen in the water or on the rocks and died. Now THAT would be a decent climax. But nooo, it seems they'd rather make some insipid peter pan-inspired load of well-filmed crap. Ugh. Sigur Ros is getting more and more shallow.

  • Explain how you would have made the video, in detail? Include the children falling to their death at the end, as well. Interested in your idea of brilliancy, leading up to such a decent climax.

  • Yeah, I agree. I would have shot the final scenes in x-ray vision, so that it could show the children's bones smashing into thousand pieces. Fighter jets and dancing gorillas would have also ensured the integrity of the video.

  • As much as I love this song, this video and Sigur in general this ^post^ had me cracking up. All in all though, amazing music video.

  • got nothing to do huh?

  • Tipical music fundamentalist... Now that this awesome band is getting the sucess they people like you start these stupid comments about them. It's sad, that's all.

  • Um. In Sigur Rós Reality, the most gore you´re going to get is in the lyrics of Ný Batteri :þ

  • What the hell are you on? Shallow!? Christ...

  • what happened to the last one??

  • THATS the question, yeah ... seems like he is falling and not flying. sad little creature

  • que tierno

  • beautiful and symbolism

  • you pansies

  • brilliant.

does anyone know where abouts in iceland this was filmed?

  • i can't help but cry.

  • Extremely powerful... so many videos now a'days are so unartistic.. This is thruly a piece of artwork... A very powerful one at that.

  • really nice

  • I have to admit it, my favorite part is when the kids kiss in the grass. This video and song made me buy the album. Amazing. =]

  • i guess the ones who kiss are two girls and they were discovered by the blonde guy....did you notice that? :)

  • It's a boy and a girl. The one one the left is a boy.

  • iceland is a cool place yeah

  • the first few times watching...and even now, this one and it's message, make me bust up crying. its so heartfelt and deep within us all. if we could only open our front doors one day and live completely different.

  • Nobody else makes music like this. Incredible.

  • Masterpiece.

  • this is my favoite video ever, i dont know why but it just really touches me.

is there anywhere i can download it so i dont have to be on the internet to watch it?

  • Pelican i thk u can download this from Sigur Ros official website!

  • I could listen to this forever. Sigur Ros is such an uplifting band. If you don't get emotional listening to their work, then you are just downright cold.

  • amen to that
