  • @ThatTyGuy1 With curly tail grubs, I like to cast them out and let them sink to the bottom. Then start reeling steadily and every few turns just stop (or kill it). This will cause the grub to descend and most times the bass will grab it if they're following. Use the lightest jighead you can get away with.

  • HAHA! THANKS BRO!

  • so those grubs works good on small mouths? can you still use topwater baits like, buzzbait and popper? im going to the boundry water on july 23rd thanks

  • Day in and day out, grubs are the best for smallies for me. Tubes and poppers can be very effective also. I would bring them all!

  • you ever fish ely, basswood lake? namtkd1 ????

we kill smallmouth on live crawlers hooked once, i will try the jigs this year when we head up north to bwca

  • I haven't fished Basswood Lake yet. It's my goal to get up there! I will remember to bring live crawlers. Good luck with the jigs!

  • Thanks for the reply. I will report back with good news! lol. I have been up there before but to Jackfish bay to catch Northern. However we did catch some nice smally on spinners.

  • Hey what brand of grubs are those? Going up to bwca in may... woo hoo. Thanks

  • All of the curly tails are from Mister Twister. However, they have discontinued the 5" curly tail grub. But you can get pretty much the same results with other brands such as Berkley, Bass Pro Shops, Kalin's, Kinami, etc. Good Luck! Let me know how you do.

  • I'm headed to BW this weekend and will be doing some fishing. Good info, thx for posting!

  • Good Luck with your fishing! Bring lots of jigs and curly tail grubs.

  • Thanks again for the info. The curly tail grub was a winner. Can't wait to go back!

  • Is the banjo minnows as good as they say or are they about the same as the other plastics ?

  • In my opinion, the wounded action of the Banjo Minnow is tough to duplicate and I really like them. You probably could almost imitate the action with a fluke.

  • did u use ANY crank baits?

  • I do use crankbaits, but for this particular trip the fish were biting fast and furious on the plastics. Great fun!

  • o yea and ill tell u how i do.... but it takes 10-15 days for them to come... but i will

  • thx now i wanna try some of those curly tails after seeing that HUGE bass u caught with it. hey well keep it up and catch more fish man

  • do the banjo minnows work i ordered a set i need to know

  • Thanks for the comment! I am a definite believer in the Banjo. I was skeptical at first when I saw the infomercial on TV but thought I should give it a try after seeing how realistic it moves in the water. It didn't take long before I hooked up with several nice bass and pike, and caught two dandy muskies at 47". I had no idea I could catch muskies of this size. Good Luck and let me know how you do!

  • yea their nice. they dont always work the fastest for me, but they do catch fish when nothing else works. lol, i even caught a channel catfish off of a albino 3 inch lure by just making the minnow look like it was dying or crippled.

  • banjo minnows are really only good in clear water sight fishing

  • i agree

  • i bought the first set of the banjo minnows in 1998 or 1999 and i swear i only caught two fishes with them they suck for me

  • agreed

  • Hey about those banjos, those hooks are upside down. the point is suppost to be up. nice collection.

  • i was just using the 006 minnows yesterday and i lost a monster bass and caught 4 3 pounders back to back and a little peacock bass their the shit

  • I just got the 006 set and it is so cool. Its too cold too use them now, but in the spring i expect good things. I went to a pool to check out the action. it is amazing

  • My friends and I joke about the "banjo minnow" and the commercial from years ago. I assumed it wasn't still around. Apparently it works! I may get a set of those.

  • i have some banjo minnows and they work very well. The first time i used them i caught 5 bass in half an hour on shore. Its amazing.

  • Thanks man almost no one posts anythingy on banjo minnow.
