Because the NBA's lease with NBC expired in 2002. Yeah the NBA on CBS (in the '80s) and NBA on NBC (in the '90s) were greatness! ESPN and ABC bastardized the good name of the NBA w/ its muted crowds and biast opinionated opinions.
NBA on NBC was the best. Those were the glory days. You should have used the original theme song though. I wish they would bring the NBA on NBC back!!! It's just not the same anymore without it.

Why would you ever remove the "NBA on NBC" song? That song IS basketball. Fort Minor is horrible for these clips. NBA on NBC song is the best.

i hate fort minor as the theme. its got no energy. its almost a depressing song. the nba on nbc song was awesome. nothing will ever top that
