Really really cool, I didn't know about his Action News weather report. I did meet Larry once..seen him often around my old neighborhood, his son was a fellow classmate in high school.

I am from Philadelphia and I was a little boy about 7 years old at the time. I can still remember the next day everybody talking about John Lennon on Action News doing the weather report for Larry Kane. I was listening to the Beatles at that time because my older brother turned me on to them and now I am 42 and still a huge fan. I think it is so cool that he stopped in my local news broadcast to do the weather with his old pal larry kane.

Kane is a journalist from Philadelphia. Lennon rode an Amtrack train down 90 miles to Philadelphia for a charity "Helping Hand Marathon" in 1975. My friends met Lennon working for WFIL-AM radio.

True, you do make some points here. The key thing about the States is there is security in the system. Example, you start a business, it's yours, nobody will take it from you. You buy some land, its yours. It makes investing very secure. Capitalism, like it or not, leads to competition which in turn leads to a better product (well in many cases it does). As far as being a fat, lazy, and self absorbed country.. yes it is. The USA is a very young nation still maturing. give it some time.

I adore Larry Kane. I haven't gotten a chance to read Lennon Revealed yet, but Ticket to Ride is one of my favorite books of all time. He's not just one of those "I met the Beatles, now I'm writing a book" guys. He tells the straight story and he's got real journalistic integrity.

read May Pang's book about the lost weekend period. An incredible read! and not a word of bullshit as she tells the tale warts and all of his drunken episodes in L.A. John would have approved of it had he lived long enough to read it. He never shied away from the truth about himself and was the first person to hold himself accountable for any wrongs he might have committed.
