Ron Paul is a congressman from Texas, running for president as a Republican, though he previously ran as a Libertarian and I never realized that he was a Republican until he was included in their debates. I've subscribed to his newsletter for ages, have admired how he's spoken out since well before the Iraq invasion, and he is much different and more inspiring than any other Republican candidate on that stage...

i think that all depends on if he can get enough exposure. if people listen to what he has to say, it's easy to see he is the man for the job and he's gonna be in the debates on thursday but no news channel is mentioning him. they just focus on the two stereotypical candidates, mcCain and Juliani. its ridiculous.

McCain is authoritarian. He's no fiscal conservative, wants to limit political speech that opposes him, loves the Iraq war...  Yucko. Juliani is relatively fiscally conservative and relatively socially tolerant, but he's a bit of a hawk as well. Juliani is the lesser of two evils, but I'm probably going to wind up voting for the Libertarian candidate, whoever that turns out to be. Maybe when Ron Paul loses the R nomination, he will run as an L again. That would serve the R's right!

I find the fact that the candidates are asking the questions an interesting reversal from standard media coverage, much more like a candidate working a room and listening to his or her constituents. I hope, however, the candidate replies offer real substance. That is, I hope they answer their own questions and don't simply comment on our answers.
