  • Nice job! What church and where? I love Quimby organs and must ask Mike if he has any of his instruments here in Florida other than that large instrument in some concert hall in Jacksonville. Nice sharp picture too, what kind of camcorder did you use?

  • @bhigdaddymark Thanks!! The organ is at First Christian Church in Jefferson City, MO. It's really a great organ, with a lot of colorful stops, and a lot of reeds, from antique English reeds on the swell to modern orchestral reeds on the choir. I believe that the Quimby website has a full spec list on it. The camcorder is a Panasonic HDC-TM700 1080p. I recently bought an external microphone, so I will probably re-record some pieces, with good sound quality!

  • @DCN1234567 Now of course I must ask, what kind of mic did you get? I recently bought a mixer and I intend on buying an Earthworks mic if the budget will allow it. I use a Canon Vixia HF-R10 that I bought specifically because it had an external mic jack as I knew that I'd be after better sound quality in the future. You did a fine job in your video. Thanks for sharing!

  • @bhigdaddymark I have a Sennheiser MKE 400. I bought it because it has better frequency response in the lower ranges compared to other mics, so it should be good at recording the organ. The Canon is a great camera, it was one of my top choices when I was looking for a camera. I haven't been able to test out the mic yet, but I will be over at the organ tomorrow, so I will probably test it out! Thanks for the compliment! I should have new videos uploaded by the end of the week.

  • @DCN1234567 That's just it, finding the proper mic that can handle and record the pedal stops especially the 32's. A great omni-directional mic is the answer according to my recording engineer. I'm saving for an Earthworks mic or the mic my engineer used in the recording of my yet to be released CD which were AKG's anyway, I look forward to your next upload.

  • Pretty good. Played at proper tempo. Sometimes they play it too fast.
