Is the entire game nothing but flying along on the surface, then going through a maze? Every single time? I'm seriously curious, since it seems like there would be no more challenge in the last level than the first.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a thing about video games before the Super Nintendo, so I'll trust your word on game quality. Actually, I'm curious about where you got this game. Was it in Japan or elsewhere?
You learn something new every day: I never knew they made a comic book out of Zeta Gundam.
The reason I asked was because I saw a lot of English on the screen and wanted to be absolutely sure of where the game came from before I asked how Nintendo ever got the idea to market it outside of Japan within a year of making the anime itself. Thanks for clearing that up.
thats the ending of the game? kamille dies?

Yes.
Each level has three parts, surface, space, and fortress.
My running finished at level 17, but this game has 255 levels.
If you clear level 255, the next level is level 1.

Other than getting to see new mobile suits and fortresses with fairly bad graphics in each level, what exactly is the point of that?

Sorry, I don't know about Gundam series.
This game was sold in 1986, and this is the first game for the famicom that I bought.
I think that a graphic skill of this game is better than other games at that time.
I have read wikipedia about this game.
The fortress stage is not related to Z Gundam, and is extra part for enjoyment.
The developer BANDAI invited some junior school students to test this game.
But they was not interested in surface and space part.
Thus BANDAI added fortress part.

I just meant to ask why a game would have the same format stage after stage after stage. It would seem to be very repetitive.
GreatWagersOfAnime 2 years ago
It is repetitive, I think so.
But in 1986, famicom games often were repetitive.
If this game was developed a few years later, it might not have been repetitive.

I bought in Japan in 1986.
I am Japanese, and this game is made by Japan, Nintendo co.,ltd and BANDAI co.,ltd are Japanese companies, Z-Gundam is a Japanese comic book.
My English message is assisted by a machine translation and dictionary.
There is no Japanese language in this game, but this developed for Japanese people.

No, my cartridge is black.
The silver version is premium, I recently know.
