  • If you wanna live a carbon free life - stop breathing

  • Bjorn Lomborg is a master of rhetorical and statistical trickery. Those of you that are interested in a critique of his analysis might want to look at the rebuttal I delivered when I opposed him at a major construction industry conference in the UK. You can see my talk on Youtube in three parts (24 mins in total) by writing 'pawlyn' into the search field.

  • ....to avoid poverty first, so they will be able to pay for it. It gives no meaning to say to a poor country hey now we have new costly technology that we need all countries to have if they arent able to pay for it.

  • Of course he is human centered, because thats the only solution. How can a poor country pay for global warming? or how can they pay for new technology?

Thats simply the reason why he wants to make bigger efforts

  • I wish Bjorn Lomborg had spoken as uncompromisingly and aggressively as he did defending his ideas on Tim Sebastian's BBC HARDtalk program. He was so effective that the worthless dropkick leftist, Tim "Hedgehog" Sebastian, had to cut off almost everything he tried to say...

Riz Khan may be a dullard, strategically employed by the International Socialist CNN; but at least he allowed his guest to finish a sentence.

  • Again, hes totally human centered. Nothing about preserving the planets biodiversity. Everything is about human needs and comforts. Hes some sort of humanist not an enviromentalist. He totally poo-pooed the 1st caller. And the answer to the 2nd caller is of course reduce human population, thus less humans to consume resources. Its not that complicated. Can the whole world afford to be massively resource consumptive and rich?

  • @mannster21 yes, we only use 0.001% of the worlds energy

  • Borjn McBadass, beein' a bad ass.

  • Why is he a lunatic? Debate what he says rather than simply call him a lunatic. Also, he most definitely isn't a right-winger.

  • Did you even listen to what Bjorn said?

Obviously you didn't because you can't be a rational person and disagree with him. He's probably the closest thing you get to an objective point of view in the envioremental debate.

You have to be a left-winged retard, in order to be so ignorant

  • you are just a left wing nutter

  • Bjorn Lomborg isn't any smarter or less intelligent than Al Gore. Difference is, he can look beyond the hype and focus on the real issue, and that is, how do we best solve these real-world problems. Let's not forget, Al Gore made a career through hype and popularity.

  • al gore is the president of GENERATION INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT the carbon credit company. so old al gore has a direct finacial motivation to keep up the hype...evil just evil he makes the enron guys look like saints.

  • Bjorn states that there is nothing a person can do to change Human environmental impact on the world right now, and that we should keep the problem on the back shelf as a future consideration to be dealt with when its relevant. There are tons of ways to reduce your personal footprint on the globe as an individual. But its not spoon fed to you people. Instead of taking refuge in confirmation bias, try to do a little research and find out what you can do, as if you actually gave a damn.

  • what do YOU do? judge not lest ye be judged and you will be judged in the maner that you did the judging. my power bill was less than $20 last month and i only use 14 gallons of gasoline a month...so unless your carbon footprint is less than mine you should keep your judgments to your self. i am holyier than thou art. *points finger at the sinner*

  • Bjorn is really smart! Much more balanced than Al Gore!

  • Enviormental hysteria is being used by socialist to advance a one world government.

  • amen to that

  • What Bjorn is arguing for is rational. We need to do a cost/benefit analysis when it comes to where we invest the world's resources. Environmental degradation is real. But I don't share this Apocalyptic belief with religious zeal that the end is near due to Climate Change. I don't believe scientists can possibly fathom the planet's resilience or predict its reaction that accurately. And I suspect whatever they have found is exagerrated by the nth degree.

  • essentially environmentalist claim that man is the reason for the global warming, and it seems that they want to stop it by reducing carbon emissions. Last I checked all living things are made of carbon and discharge carbon, so essentially the solution is to reduce human life on earth not increase and have other species dominate once again...These people are crazy and buy into eurocentric ideas without taking into consideration the third world!!!

  • If you say he lies you are saying that the UN panel on climate change is lying. He doesn't call himself a scientist, because he isn't one. He is simply directly quoting what the UN Panel on climate change has been saying.

Lomborg quotes what the UN says and explains why our current solutions will do more harm than good. He proposes more realistic solutions that will actually work and not put the global economy into a depression.

I've read his book, you should too. It is truth.

  • Lomborg's arguments about the deprivation of animals' natural habitats is characteristically idiotic. His solution: no problem, the animals will simply move to another area! In his latest book he writes that the destruction of the polar bears' living environment is not a problem because they will simply evolve backwards to a previous stage in their evolutionary development! The polar bears will morph into brown bears within a span of few decades? Really?

  • Mesameus statements about Lomborg's argument is characteristically idiotic. He hasn't read Lomborg's books. He really needs to before he makes such characteristically idiotic and uninformed statements.

  • Religious people say that one cannot criticise ideas presented in their sacred texts without actually reading those texts.

  • Bjorn Lomborg is an economist, not an environmentalist. He is also a liar who uses statistics as a means of defending pollution and environmental destruction.

Bjorn Lomborg claims in his book "Cool It!" that the people of Bangladesh will have an (inflation adjusted) income of $100,000 a year by 2100 A.D. He makes a similar claim for the entire Developing World.

In other words: Bjorn Lomborg is full of crap.

  • Oh dear, with the release of Bjorn Lomborgs new book the smear practitioners are starting already.

When will you environmentalist learn the more you try and tear down people who don't share your narrow opinions the more the public will turn off.

Everyone should check his new book out.

  • A hero for the world

  • sorry its aready 6,6 ,he ignored the question totaly.

  • The problem is overpopulation, its the engine for the economies en thus global warming.

The best measurement taken (beside other) should be global birth restriction , it costs almost noting , and has the biggest effect within 50 years. Go for 1 billion instead of 6.5 and growing. Stop the plague called mankind. Let us be a ''non disturbing factor'' within other life forms to save the beautiful living planet. The challenge is;to balance our numbers and know our place within this system.

  • How silly to suggest that we must keep in mind the positive effects of global warming: better to have 2000 people die of heat than 20000 of cold.. ha

  • S0 the truth is silly now?

  • malochnik, go back to 2:47 and listen to what he said.

  • The answer to climate change is mining the moon's surface for helium-3 as an energy source for earth. China and Russia are partnered to begin development of a mining station on the lunar surface by 2020. The USA has not made a committment. Bush is an oil president. Oil and costly wars are more important.

  • Lomborg is very naive in thinking that technology will solve global warming. Technology is what got us into this mess in the first place. It always has unintended consequences, not the least of which the fact that its ever-increasing complexity requires increasingly complex and centralized institutions to maintain it. I just don't buy this almost religious 'faith' in science and technology's ability to fix everything. People like Lomborg need to move on from denial.

    Read John Zerzan.

  • Lomborg Naive?

I think the eco evangelists have shown us all about blinkered almost religious belief in a cause. All Lomborg is saying is there are other problems that could be solved at much less cost than the scare mongering Greenpeace "faithful" would have you believe.

More power to him. I'm looking forward to his new book Cool It, as are friends of the earth no doubt...

  • So what you are saying is, that we should keep tearing down forrests and burning coal, like we always did?

Just because technology got us in to this, it does not mean that it cant get us out, again.

  • great video , we should look after our beautiful earth. Wars and greed will cause more harm to this beautiful earth...message from harunyayha dot com

  • Great video!
