Rick Perry raised franchise taxes for business in Texas to the highest level in history. They started taxing business on gross receipts not profits. If you run 50 million in sells but lose 1 million dollars you must pay tax on the 50 million. Any first grade student can run a state if all they have to do is take money via taxes to cover ever how much they spend. We in the private sector do not have that luxury, nether should they. After the franchise tax increase on HB3 in 2006 the state took in so much money it was scary. So with an election coming on Rick raised the exclusion from 300,000 to l million starting in 2010. If your sells is over l million dollars you still must pay the tax. So much for doing away with discrimination. The day is coming when if you get lucky and have $25000.00 or more in your bank account the state, local or federal government can say since you earn to much we will just take all over 25000.
