I personally wished they had kept the Detroit 8.2L. Those didn't seem to have any trouble in the cold, not that I remember. Of course most of our Fords were the 370 2v gas engines, those were very nice.
i drive truck for a liveing and the same Cummins is in my truck but it has a lot more power. lol i drive a 1996 FREIGHTLINER FLD12042SD and some time it tacks me like 30 mins to and 1HR to get it to run so yeah funny.!!! will bye
did you cycle the glowplugs, ( turning power on, waiting for light to go off?) idk if that would have made a difference but just athought. but i agree wiht you. youve got a hell of a set of batteries on that thing lol
REALLY nice bus man. I was just looking at a 20 foot Box truck built on the same Ford F700 chassis with the Cummins 5.9. Really nice setup. Alas, instead of starting me new project with that one I picked up a 14 foot Ford E350 chassis Box Truck with the 7.3 International Navistar IDI V8. I like the BlueBirds a lot but it's kind of nice to have a big hood you can pop to easily get to your engine.
Awesome video! I love it. True Cummins starting up without dying batteries. That's a real bus.
I know our Fords almost always started up, even when they weren't plugged in. I've seen days where C2s won't start, even when they're plugged up, with the 5.9. But the Fords would.
Nice video.

Neat to see this bus was made in my hometown. Too bad the factory is closed now.

I'm surprised you didn't get frustrated during the first startups like other people. Nice video!
