  • hi! I have my 3 month old beagle now and was diagnosed with distmeper, he is not showing any signs and he's eating normally. Will he die as well? as i can see here your puppy is healthy and after a month he died? does he have distmeper in this video? we are just giving mmy puppy antibacterial meds

  • Hi ninhera07,

I had 3 puppies that time who got distemper, and one survived (which is the last one contracted).. there's 2 stages of distemper... 1st stage normally the puppy would appear normal, but signs included low blood cells count (check his body specially ears, tummy and face area, if there's red dots it could mean this), followed by pneumonia, runny nose, diarrhea, and fever.

  • 2nd stage which is the dangerous one, is the twitching/seizures, this means the virus has attacked the puppy's nervous systems. And also thickening of the paws and nose's skin (it appears dry and lots of skin layers coming off).. It was really hard to save the puppy at this stage, most cases the dog wouldn't survive when it has happened.. But my puppy that survived had the seizures but not as bad as Lucky and Eeyore (the other puppy that died).

  • It all depends on the dog's own immune system, as long as you can maintain that his immune system remains strong, it will fight the virus by itself. Make sure that the puppy eats regularly (every few hours) and rests a lot, and keep his temperature within normal range.. Give him antivirus tablets if there's any.. pills to increase immunity, vitamins.. I gave my puppies Science Diet A/D, eventhough the dog would loss his appetite, you have to make sure they eat and have their medicines on time.

  • so cutee :)

  • hey don't be sorry ^_^ ...it's okay..

all you hv to do is to take a good care of your puppy..dogs are the best companion & we need to give them a good life just as they have given us a joy in our life :)

  • OMG i dont know what i would do if my beagle died i am seriosly srry :(

  • omG i am so srry how did he die again distempered what does that mean?

  • hi there, yeah i lost 2 puppies that time, Lucky & Eeyore, his sibling.

Distemper is a viral disease which can spread through air or through contact with the infected bodily fluids (nasal, urine, etc).

It's a deadly virus, just make sure your dogs are vaccinated & healthy. The experience really has taught me & my family to really taking good cares of our dogs. We hv 9 dogs in total, my oldest dog is 15 yrs old & still able to climb up to the 2nd floor in our house..I'm really proud of it :)

  • What an adorable pup! I'm so sorry for your loss. :( I have 4 dogs and adopted a 5th one yesterday. I can't imagine living without my babies. You must have a heart of stone and bravery. I know your pup is in a better place. :)

  • hi there, thanks so much for the comment..yeah i can't live without my dogs too..dogs are part of my family..

now that i'm overseas i can't have dogs :( back home i hv 9 dogs in total ^_^ ..i've been living w/ dogs ever since i'm 2 yrs old..

anyway, i'm sure your dogs are living happy w/ you, it's a good thing to adopt dogs coz you give them 2nd chance to live :) i hope your dogs are healthy & become a good companion for you ^_^

  • oh well hopefully we swill see the good sides of life

  • Aw, So cute. I feel your pain. :( I had a beagle, (looked JUST like yours)his name was toby. he was born with a liver shunt, and he fought hard. He sadly got hit my a car at only 1 year old. I hope our beagles are playing with each other in heaven. :)

  • I'm sorry to hear about your beagle too.. 3 of my puppies actually got distemper that time, and only 1 survived. I believe it was airborne b/c my neighbours' dog died from distemper too, it's like a breakout around the neighborhood. I do hope there is dog heaven out there, coz I really want to meet my dogs one day :D

  • Wow. Thats sad :( You will meet on rainbow road someday. :)
