All i know is they did something fresh/different when they first came onto the music scene from 1969 to the mid-70s and like many people, who happen to be fans of the stooges (young or older), loved every album that they ever came out with. Not only that, they have inspired MANY ppl in pursuing a career in music. Some of those musicians have went on to create great music as well. Overall, i highly appreciate the stooges contribution to music.

It took a fair amount of imagination and skill to execute. It may be that this style of playing doesn't take a musical genius to play, but so what, if some people really enjoy the style? This stuff evokes an emotional response for me, as it does for a lot of people, in case you didn't know. So no, it's not all about fashion and attitude.

If I had to make a comparison, it would be the The Ramones' first album "Ramones". It's really raw as well, and Johnny Ramone was even described as, "a tie wearing Stooges fan" if I'm not mistaken. The early Ramones would be the closest thing.
