  • how annoying is youtube accept to put ad like mature dating next to a video like this,at least it should be high end model dating or something

  • I wonder how that player in 1:48 is feeling

  • This is really beautiful.

  • who are the 7 jerks who disliked this video

  • 2:33 yoyoma rabbit face :B

  • @Olvandi99 Hahahaha

  • Amazing music, Yo Yo Ma's facial expression really impress me. Just like he is saying, "look, i am fucking good :)".

  • 2:11 - 2:30 has to be one of the greatest conducting moments.

  • @davidhan96 You're right! Wonderful conducting.

  • I've been looking for this version for the longest and now, it's finally here. Thank you so much for posting this!!!!!!! I absolutely adore Itzhak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma's playing. :D

  • ive listened to this version and Garret's version... by far i prefer this version however i think calling Garret a terrible violinist is not true he can play, i also really do not care for the re-arrangement he plays, but i do not think the is a bad player.

  • were playing this piece in my high school orchestra and i love where they key changes to when it changes back again :(

  • The two greats of my time playing together. Ahhhh -3 although I must say the composer for kingdom hearts must have been inspired by this for "traverse town's theme". Just a similar mood and rhythms. Still, how can you be emotionless after hearing this -3

  • David Garret is the "consumer version of the classics...rehashed to be palatable to the unmusical ear. Its fine in its own domain.....better than nothing. At least a way to keep the violin alive in this age of trash entertainment for dumbed down audiences.

  • I love how Yo Yo Ma is just like oh yes. I'm this good. :D

  • kakav bol u kurcu! carski

  • Talent is sexy.

  • We are privileged to be alive at this time in history, to see these masters performing in this way. Their like will not be seen anytime soon...

  • This version is better then David Garrett's version but David is a lot younger and less experienced then these two legends of classical music. I like David and I love these 2 so you get what you get in this world now

  • @msuppaner you do make a good point, and a long one :P i understand how our minds and understanding change over the years however one of the reasons I dislike Garrett is how he's taken the violin and beautiful music and made it fashion, type his name into google images and try and find a photo of him not wearing chains or rings or not trying to have sex with the camera haha anyway, each to their own! but i agree with the Tchaik, I prefer Oistrakh or Kogan or Heifetz

  • @Yahtzzi All of them are wonderful.

  • perfect, perfect, PERFECT!!!!

  • I love both this one and the one played by David Garrett <3 both are beautiful!!

  • Way better than the horrible version played by David Garrett. Pearlman and Ma are true musicians who play from the heart and it shows.

  • @jacob091285 I agree!! Both Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo- Ma have soft and beautiful sound unlike Garrets rough glissando in his version of this Humoresque. Anyway, thank you for your great point!

    Sincerely,

    Liakhovetski Brothers

  • what a great piece of art!!! makes u think and fly in your head!!!!

  • No, there are no words to describe this emotion, "Humoresque" is one of the finest songs Antonin Dvorak wrote - and he wrote a lot! In about three minutes you can feel sweetness

and bitterness because of what the melody is telling you. Mr. Perlman is the best violinist

alive, Mr. Yo-yo Ma the best cellist, Mr. Ozawa an oustanding maestro. Thank you!

  • 2 string players with 2 stradivari.what can be better than this lol

  • this is....this is...so...good! unbelievable

  • Their call and answer is so amazing they have such style together and i hope to achieve that as well some day with practice and dedication

  • Thumbs up if "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" sent you here!!!! :)

  • Thank you dear friend Guinter for sending this brillant video and I am truly sorry for the deep and so sad reason you have shared with me...

Silvio , thank you so much for uploading this treasure!

  • Actually I am speachless because these two men have taken my breath away with their brlilliant talent. Thank you who ever chose this magnificent post !!!!

  • awesome!!

  • I love 1:40, sounds so pretty :)

  • I love at 0:55 when they have a bit of a moment and give each other a smile...this is a beautiful piece and they played it like it deserves.

  • anyone else remember that episode of Arthur when yo yo ma had bunny ears? ... cuz i do...

  • @stabbinhobo12 what?

  • This is one of the most beautiful compositions for them to play and play so nicely.

  • I think it's sad that this video has only 125,123 views when David Garrett's Humoresque, which is nothing compared to this, has 448,746. This recording is just absolutely beautiful, power and emotion

  • I totally agree with you

  • @silviofinottineto I agree with you and with Yahtzzi.... it is pure beauty....

  • @Yahtzzi Now it's "2 days" (according to YouTube) after your post, it still has 125,123 views. No one came here in 48 hours? That's just sad.

  • @Yahtzzi yes, its very saddening...

  • @Yahtzzi The fact is.....the youtube vid of Kreisler's original transcription for violin get only some 18,000 views.

  • @Yahtzzi I don't agree fully, although from "fundamentalistic classical" point of view you are absolutely right! if we consider Dvorak's idea some century ago, an interpretation like David Garrett's would have caused disgust only. But mankind and music evolved, a lot of things changed, including the understanding of beauty and harmony. Listen to "contemporary" classical composers of the 21st century and even most of the 20th century with a few exceptions like Mahler,

  • cont.: Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Carl Orff and a few others. Unless the mentioned exceptions this kind of "modern classical music" is unbearable for the "normal" ear!! No more harmony (only maybe in a mathematical sense). What David Garrett is doing is interpreting genius music in a contemporary but for most people "beautiful" way. That's why he has so many more viewings than Perlman.

  • cont.: I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Perlman at all, especially since I heard his interpretation of my favorite Tchaikowsky's Violin concert in a very - I can't find the right word - "over-emotional overkill" interpretation - at least for my understanding and ears.

  • @Yahtzzi whats wrong with Garrett?

  • @Yahtzzi yup,,,but dont forget ! Garrett`s version is a whole new one ,,with an awesome re-arrangement and very well played including his style of playing plus his appearance attracts more younger viewers like me !,,itzhak perlman also a very brilliant violinist,,but not many people are dealing with him ..both are awesome musician,,in addition, itzhak perlman was garrett`s teacher when he attended to JULLIARD SCHOOL ~~

  • @Yahtzzi I agree. This is my favourite version of this theme. It's unreal. Ma is king.

  • @Yahtzzi Just listened to him for less than a minute and you are right - he sucks!

  • Even if the spirit of patriotism of my country is already almost dead, always when I listen to this composition, I am proud of being Czech. Thank you, Antonín Dvořák.

  • Well, have pride. Worse would be if you were Brazilian like me. A country that has only Carnival and corrupt politician, and composer nhenum to compare with A. Dvořák ..

  • @silviofinottineto How about Villa-Lobos? He was a Brazilian composer and a very talented one... By the way, I am not Brazilian

  • I agree with you, Villa-Lobos is an avid composer, he has great works, but in my opinion is imposivel complarar V. Lobos with Dvorak.

  • @Agoni7 You should see in Brazil.Patriotism is dead and buried already.

  • no me arrepiento de habr tropezado con este video

  • Justin bieber: WOW! how do these guys get such great sound without AUTO TUNE?

...it's called being musical and having great tone which you seem to lack both in...bitch

  • i love yo yo ma's playing a lot, his tone is so beautiful. when he smiles when he plays, i find myself smiling back :)

  • Difficulty=== ASIAN/ Itzhak Perlman :DDD

  • With Ozawa Seiji conducting

  • Wow... like, I want to cry my eyes out now

  • What a magnificent piece!

Both good-to-hear and good-to-see. I like, in particular, expressions of the musicians.

  • Awesome

  • Thanks for posting this - it is just wonderful :) They are great :) Who are the 4 nuts?

  • 4 people are deaf

  • Those are some interesting fingerings. What a pro.

  • @o0paradigm0o - I wouldn't expect any less from the best in the world. Haha.

  • WHAT A WONDERFUL RENDITION OF A CLASSIC MERLE HAGGARD TUNE!

  • No words... stunning. I think Dvořák would be really happy to hear this performance. I imagine that he wrote the Humoresque with this in mind...

  • two greats...spectacular

  • good job.

  • Stunning, they are simply singing with there souls throught the instruments...

  • Not even the guy who posted this could find the words to describe how beautiful this is.

  • @ClumsyParasite i agree

  • hermoso yo tambien toco esta obra en violin y se siente genial tocarla y escucharla

  • hermoso

  • That's pretty c:

  • I'm addicted to this now :P

  • Wordless ....!

  • Oh my God ! Such a great... I can't find any description.

  • I have to ask, what is wrong with the 4 people who disliked this video?

  • Comment removed

  • @Mcommander23 They're aliens!

  • Beautiful ! Because this masterpiece, i love classic music.

  • hey guys i think i misplaced the dislike bar!

o well !!! who needs it?!

  • What do you mean by Suzuki book 3?

  • @theman211294 A lot of students use the Suzuki books to learn their string instruments. They have Suzuki books 1 - 6 for just about all the string instruments. This piece must be in violin book 3. It is not an overly difficult piece.

  • Incredibly amazing.

  • Looking for a freakin' download link...

  • haha im the 666 like

  • i shed manly tears today.

  • 4 people have no soul.

  • this what i listen 2 when im made it calms me down

  • they are so great when they play together!!! ... both have such a sweet tone. i love them!

  • this is in my suzuki book 3! i hope i can do this as well as they do

  • This is good music, not the shit of David Garret

  • Magnificent!

  • This is probably my favourite recording of my favourite classical piece. The way Perlman and Ma trade melodies is absolutely incredible.

  • if the alians arrived right now and asked us what makes us human

    i would show them this

  • @omygood424 aliens wouldn't appreciate this, just like animals don't. Humans have evolved to enjoy music so much. Animals have their own kind of music, and it's always different than hours. Each animal has developed different tastes in music, so something that would impress an alien won't impress you and vice versa. still, i get your point. lol

  • perlman's warm sound is amazing

  • Magnificent arrangement of a miniature masterpiece!

  • i am speachless..... o darn guess i'm not.

  • This is the most cheerful, beautiful music I have ever listened to.

  • i love playing the violin but sometimes when i feel as if i just want to throw my instrument i just listen to this and it refreshes me

  • That was beautiful. Thank you.

  • Great violin and cello - amazing duo.

  • I saw Yo Yo Ma live once. What a wonderful player!

  • I liked this song before; then when I saw this video - FAVORITE.

There's just so much feeling going on, especially at 1:57-2:25 <-- my favorite bit.

  • Absolutely divine peice of work. All made possible by one great cellist and one great violinist.

  • silviofinottineto por um acaso vc é neto de joão finotti, ancião antigo da congregação?

  • i love this music piece !,it's full of love!

  • Very wonderful music!

  • i see a error in the song is at the 3:31....why it finish ? everytime i listen it ... im happy..

  • Just noticed that Seiji Ozawa was the conductor as well! This video shows how a world class violinist, world class cellist, and world class conductor cam turn a simple musical piece from Suzuki book 3 into a masterpiece, just as how Gordon Ramsay will be able to make Mac and cheese into gourmet food.

  • woa, i have to play this for my cello lessons

  • To me the point is the co-presentation. I heard this a few days ago (in Poland on the radio channel RMF Classic) and I almost lost my breath.

  • BRAVOOOO

  • la cancion no es dificil pero llegar a la armonia en k ellos tocan ahahaha sin duda la mejor version de la cancion k he escuchado llegue a llorar de emocion xD (snif)

  • simplemente, hermoso!! ^o^

  • I've watched this video a hundred times probably and each time it's like I've gotten lucky and get to eavesdrop on a beautiful conversation between two instruments/musicians

  • Gostei demais! Perlman é o cara!

  • seriously where the fuck i can get the CD? this is totally insane!

  • YealtsMario, I transcribed this version to play with my daughter (cello). I play the violin. I can email you my version but it may not be exactly as played by these geniuses.

  • Perlmann resembles Schubert both in his face and in his lyric and romantic soul.

  • the way the violin and cello talk to and sing with each other...the smiles they exchange between them...T_T

  • crap crap crap!!!!! i love this song, i love this arrangement!!! love perlman, love yo yo ma..... love the performance! the most perfect video in youtube ever!

  • Ohh, so awesome!:D

  • Thank you, Amy Chua. Now I have this song stuck in my head, complete with lyrics:

"I waaaant my ice cream, oh give me my ice cream; where is the ice cream you promised meeee?"

  • 2:12 is always the most dramatic part of the song... <3 this piece.

  • expression at 2:30 = priceless
