@PIchillin456 I am not sure yet, I don't want to over do it in performance parts, I knew someone who put a turbo on his car and blew his engine because he tried to push the engine past it's limit. I was thinking about getting a elbrock supercharger, I herd they were good. I wasn't going custom as in custom superchargers and ect, I want to put a little getty up for my truck, right now when I drive it, it feels like your riding in a bath tub, I feel safe, but it takes a little to speed up.
@JoeLil1993 Of course it's totally up to you but I would have to say that a 5.0 swap might just be easier. I honestly don't even know how you would get a supercharger to bolt on without considerable modification. That 5.0 makes 215 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque right out of the box and it's really a simple plug-and-play operation. Add that exhaust you were planning on it and you have yourself a bad-ass ride that sounds great.
@PIchillin456 Well they make supperchargers that are designed to fit without making modifications to the body and there is probably some adaptor to put on the engine so you can hook it up. Yeah the 5.0 sounds nice, but I want to get good gas milage, I might just put in a V-6 so I can get max horse power and good fuel economy. I added that cool air intake and now it gets up and goes, I reved it a little today and at about 3,000 RPMs it sounds like it has a supercharger, It's fun to drive now.
@JoeLil1993 If you get a chance post some videos of your ride. I would love to see it. Also feel free to check out my videos of my past rides. I have nothing for my Mountaineer but I do of my last two rides. If you don't it's all good. Just keep it in mind.
@PIchillin456 I will when I get a camera that does vidoes. I keep it in decent shape, there is a dent on the front passenger side from where I crashed in the ditch, when the wrecker pulled it out he stuck the key into the igntion and turned it, and it started up like nothing happened to it. There is rust under the passenger window seal, and rust on the bottom of the driver's side cab. Bed has dings and dents. That's basicaly it. The AC doesn't work, but the heater works perfectly.
@PIchillin456 My truck also is the XLT model which was the best of the best for that year, power windows, mirrors, and locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM sterio with CD and casset player. Cruise control. It has the 2.5 liter mazda straight four engine. I nicknamed my truck Old Faithful because it never let me down. Everything works except for the AC. If you give me your email I will be able to talk more about my truck, anyways, What about you ride? Your car sounds like a dependable car too
@JoeLil1993 Well the 5.0L V8 engine my my 1998 Mercury Mountaineer is excellent. It's got 114,600 miles on it and it still runs beautifully. It's got AWD so all of that V8 power gets transferred to the road without any tire spin at all. My car definitely isn't fully loaded but it's still well optioned. It's got leather seats, rear climate controls, a compass, temperature gauge, automatic headlights, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, premium sound system, running boards and all that good stuff.
@PIchillin456 That sounds like a cool car, got more stuff than my truck though. That sounds like good reliable car. This summer I am going to get the body fixed up, I am putting a coat of rustolium on the bed. My truck is two wheel drive, it can and has gotten stuck in a mudd puddle. I am not even kidding, luckily I put it in reverse and got out. The thing I like most about my truck is that the tank is full with only 35 dollars and one tanks lasts about 300 miles, probably more now.
@JoeLil1993 My tank costs 80 dollars to fill up the tank. You're lucky. Plus my gas mileage is terrible. That's why I'll be getting an Infiniti G35 within the next few months. I can't afford to be driving my Mounty as my daily driver. I'll be keeping the good old Mountaineer as a second car though. I can't part with her. She's my baby and I love her. But that also makes her my project car. I'll be supercharging her at some point. Possibly lowering it (questionable), adding a CAI, & better tires
@JoeLil1993 Beyond that I'm not really sure and I'm open to suggestions. At this point I don't even care if I get less than the 11 mpg that I'm averaging in the city right now since I'll have my fuel efficient ride too. Can you believe I only get 16 mpg on the highway? I averaged 16 mpg in the city in my VW Jetta when I was pushing it. I have some videos up here on youtube of my Jetta and my first love, my 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue if you're interested.
@JoeLil1993 The car has only let me down once and that was due to a hole in one of the coolant lines. Other than that it's never given me any trouble. She's a good looking rig and I love her to death. It does have some damage to the rear quarter panel from the previous owner, and the drivers seat has some cracks in it but other than that it's in amazing shape. And apparently she can handle her own off road too which I wasn't expecting considering the ground clearance isn't that good for an SUV.

I've been looking at a few of these videos and I've noticed a trend. The ford motors seem to run alot longer than the chevy motors. Waching this video makes me think of my 93 ranger I had. I sold it almost 4 years ago. I hope it didn't meet this kind of demise. That was a good little truck.

the reason people had their vehicles traded in for c4c is because some vehicles their monthly repair bills are more than the payment on a brand new car. My old Ranger is a damn tough truck but to bring it back to showroom condition I would need probably 20 grand! i have a messed up suspension, and I think my trans may have went out today. plus, my hubs are crappy. But, my engine is ungodly tough.

I just don't get it. There's plenty of people out there who could've used this Ranger. I have a '94XLT 4X4 4.0L with 173,000mi and is still running. I bought it new with 78mi on it. What a total waste. Now you can have your $4500 towards a $30k+ vehicle which probably won't last as long as that Ranger would've.

Like you said in your video, this 4.0 probably went so long because it had 200k miles on it. I would have still liked to have this truck though, I need a decently powerful little truck sometimes and I cant drive my Ranger because of no brakes. Not worth fixing the truck, too many problems with it.. so its actually a REAL clunker but its not eligible for CARS because it can't drive even though they would kill it anyway...

It's got AWD so all of that V8 power gets transferred to the road without any tire spin at all. My car definitely isn't fully loaded but it's still well optioned. It's got leather seats, rear climate controls, a compass, temperature gauge, automatic headlights, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, premium sound system, running boards and all that good stuff.

This summer I am going to get the body fixed up, I am putting a coat of rustolium on the bed. My truck is two wheel drive, it can and has gotten stuck in a mudd puddle. I am not even kidding, luckily I put it in reverse and got out. The thing I like most about my truck is that the tank is full with only 35 dollars and one tanks lasts about 300 miles, probably more now.

I can't afford to be driving my Mounty as my daily driver. I'll be keeping the good old Mountaineer as a second car though. I can't part with her. She's my baby and I love her. But that also makes her my project car. I'll be supercharging her at some point. Possibly lowering it (questionable), adding a CAI, & better tires

At this point I don't even care if I get less than the 11 mpg that I'm averaging in the city right now since I'll have my fuel efficient ride too. Can you believe I only get 16 mpg on the highway? @JoeLil1993 The car has only let me down once and that was due to a hole in one of the coolant lines. Other than that it's never given me any trouble. She's a good looking rig and I love her to death. It does have some damage to the rear quarter panel from the previous owner, and the drivers seat has some cracks in it but other than that it's in amazing shape. And apparently she can handle her own off road too which I wasn't expecting considering the ground clearance isn't that good for an SUV.

the reason people had their vehicles traded in for c4c is because some vehicles their monthly repair bills are more than the payment on a brand new car. My old Ranger is a damn tough truck but to bring it back to showroom condition I would need probably 20 grand! i have a messed up suspension, and I think my trans may have went out today. plus, my hubs are crappy. But, my engine is ungodly tough.

I just don't get it. There's plenty of people out there who could've used this Ranger. I have a '94XLT 4X4 4.0L with 173,000mi and is still running. I bought it new with 78mi on it. What a total waste. Now you can have your $4500 towards a $30k+ vehicle which probably won't last as long as that Ranger would've.

Like you said in your video, this 4.0 probably went so long because it had 200k miles on it. I would have still liked to have this truck though, I need a decently powerful little truck sometimes and I cant drive my Ranger because of no brakes. Not worth fixing the truck, too many problems with it.. so its actually a REAL clunker but its not eligible for CARS because it can't drive even though they would kill it anyway...
