  • Milky!

  • the guy at 3:15 has very very good english

  • Am I the only one learning great grammar points from these videos? Mezurashii, never heard it before now! Thanks sir your sheer volume of production is just GREAT, and the quality is superb too! You've a great sense for what makes interesting media!

  • damm japan has squirrels and chimpmunks i want one :( damm america!

  • @GoogooEyedChihuahua

I've had two orphaned squirrels, but because they were male and female, as they matured they became mean. Now, my Uncle had a single male squirrel that lived in his screened porch. He would let the squirrel out to play, just like a dog, and when it was time to come-in he would call the squirrel, "ROCKY!", and he would come, running up his body and would proceed to perch on his shoulder. Eventually, ALL squirrels were released.

  • Mouses? mousies? mices? MICE!

    Sooo adorable.

  • pik-achu? :D

  • 2:55 the guy looks like Jackie Chan xD

  • When the lady was told whats the most unusual pet you know of. She said dog. And I said WWWAAAAHHHHH!!!!

  • the guy at 2:55 is always so chill and fun.

  • Neko ga arimasu

  • @lJavieR7l

Be careful, arimasu is only used for inanimate things (and plants, ironically). What you're looking for is 'imasu'.

  • Maybe, piku means "pig" :)

  • @Kaorize000777 yes it does she meant "piggu" which is an americanized word for pig. The real Japanese word for pig is buta as in buta niku (pig meat)

  • piku means mice right?

  • they all want monkeys!! mark my words people, this is were planet of the apes will begin....lol

  • I have two dogs. both dogs are dachshund. one is black, and the other is brown. I have seen unusual pets, which are raccoon and wallaby at my city before.

    (゚Д゚;ノ)ノ

  • Arrest me, i may be guilty, but at least i'm honest: The girl at 4:20 is what i would call SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMMOOOOO-KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN

  • The older woman is like, pets!? Do i have or want one!? NOOO NOO NOOO O_O and the man at 3:00 is like..mouses, mices mieeceess? xD I love these guys and the interviews, very light and charming individuals for sure

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I was asking a simple question. I am a fan of your videos and I have seen them all, I love them. I just have a difficult time understanding what is being said in the interviews when they speak very quiet or too fast. I wasn't trying to be hateful or put you down I just want to know what they have to say. That's why I watch them!

  • Would you consider putting subtitles up for the interviews? They are so awesome, but can be frustrating because I don't understand what was said. I can sometimes figure it out if I repeat the segment several times, but I don't always have the patience or time to do so.

  • are Iguana common pets there?

  • im a ninja

  • I would have guessed that someone would say a fennec fox is an unusual pet in Japan.

  • Eel! Lol

  • monkeys are not cute you are!

  • Thanks, everyone.

  • Milky...

Yes. That is an awesome shirt.

  • Lol... I love these interviews.

  • "Meeses"

  • milky milky milky

  • I love watching the people practice their English. Some of the responses were very funny. I actually laughed out loud at a couple of their answers.

  • are there not any bunnies in japan? they are small like cats so i would have thought a lot of people had them and i think they are cuter then cats lol

  • @evcsgirl811 they are bunnies sold in pet shops. Not sure if popular tough...

  • The 'older' woman spoke english almost at ease!! She's great!!! But I'm wondering if Japanese people are interested to learn Dutch, French or German?? I could help them with that! ( and as my memory is willing to serve me...I don't recall seeing that on one of your playlists)

  • @gyqz there was a interview video about which country they would most like to visit and none of them said the states most where places that didnt speak english so they probley do :^D

  • @1161858 Thank you.....This may open up doors for me!! :-)

  • Nobody said pikachu?

  • Thanks for adding an adult to the mix (the older woman). Love your vids, thanks!

  • how long has the guy at 2:50 been speaking english? He's pretty good.

  • Cats, dogs, mouses. Mouses? Mices?

  • I can't remember how I stumbled into this channel but I have been a long time subscriber and man I wish we had people like you in other countries to take the time and teach us about the history, culture and people.

Thank you so much for putting all this time and effort. I have learned a lot about Japan through your channel and I've become very interested to visit and even interact with Japanese people in the U.S.

    Thank again.

  • !!^v^ LoL Thanks for looking it up for me LoL ^v^!!

Never thought about the Eel pet though, that was funny to hear about..

must be a major pain for whoever owned it, to handle it, when ever they needed to clean the Eels tank, LoLOLoL "Those lil suckers are Slippery not to mention Squirmy when ya try and hold em~~." (had to help take care of some as part of my (Biology class) credit in highschool, chose them instead of the tadpol's) I Can only imagine how its owner moves it... RoFL! ^o^ !!!

  • Nice video... it's interesting to see the interview videos, the way they care to correct their English and btw seing the interview videos over time they have improved their English skills and they are becoming more comfortable in front of camera!! Keep up the good work of informing the youtubers about the real Japan!!! ^^

  • Milky-Bishojo=Kawaii

  • @Theowest neko neko nyan nyan!

  • Where do you live? I got to Japan maybe three weeks ago. I'm going to be here for a year, but I wonder about your location. I am in Mishima, in Shizuoka prefecture.

  • i pictured them saying, "i don't own a monkey, but i married one" or something like that. xP

  • Thank you for the video, I wish I could raise wolves.

  • chinchillas are cute^^

  • Milky

  • Fun video thanks i enjoyed it.

  • Spiders are actually the best... until they fling their... oh, forget it. :)

  • Milky :D indeed!

  • Your friend at 2:51 has amazing English skills! Just how long has he been speaking the language?

  • monkeys are cute and funny, untill they fling their crap at you

  • pigs are actually very intelligent. they are smarter than most dogs.

  • i find the strategically placed "Milky" on the last girls shirt to be pretty funny.

  • Also mousies ^^

  • @ryanwallen22 "Love to eat them mousies,

mousies what I love to eat."

  • Pet pig! omg yay~!

  • man, i was wondering if u would ever make a vid about pets in Japan, thank you!

  • @Pandofus

    Already did.

    Nature playlist.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom thanks for the info :)

  • When the last guy said "hamster" he did it with an accent that made it sound danish :) I became a little excited there for a couple of seconds.

  • i miss her...lol, the last girl, shes cool.

  • Japanese people seem so polite :) I wish I grew up there.

  • LOL, I've had a monkey steal a banana out of my hand once.....no lie :D I even have a pic of the monkey.

  • they're all so sincere, you know? It's hard not to admire them.

  • When I was in Japan the cats had no tails. I was told that in Japan they cut the tails off to keep the cats from climbing, since they need the tail as a counter balance. I thought I saw somewhere that there's an actual breed of Japanese "Bob-tailed" cats. So, which is it? Are the tailed surgically removed or is there an actual Japanese breed of cats that naturally have no tails?

  • @PGIFilms - The Japanese Bobtail is an actual breed similar to the Manx, they don't go around cutting off kittens tails to stop them from climbing trees, I think someone has been having you on.. =/

  • @PGIFilms

Yep their is a breed of Japanese "bob-tailed Cats" and unlike the "Manx races" of cats, they are almost always, sweet tempered felines.. As a matter of fact the (Hello Kitty) series and those lil Cat statues ya see with their paws raised, are all based off of them, their considered too be good luck in the orient..LoL

Don't know about the tail clipping bit though, but I did Own a manx in my teens, and that FoUL Tempered cat climbed with the best of them no problem what so ever.. LoL!

  • Can you make one about what career they want? Or they wish they had?

  • lol i think your are starting to develop a japanese accent!

  • that first girl is so Fn cute.

  • I LOVE that first girl!!!! <3

  • Their English is improving.

  • These interviews are great! Keep em coming!

  • Are they just learning english?

  • @Ruhnezmei89 All Japanese people learn English in school. But not that intence and they forget it easily when school is over. I'm guessing these people are doing more english class though.

  • always nice to hear japanese opinions nice video thanks

  • oh god, the woman at 2:20 cracks me up! XD

  • Still liking the interviews, thanks again!!

  • Their very good at english!!!

  • I love your vids, cant stop watching them...

  • Their english is getting gradually better :)

  • uuuuuummmm NOT a good idea to have a monkey as a pet! Just sayin! There was a lady here in America that had one and, because it is a wild animal, the monkey went crazy one day and attacked the lady and her friend. It ripped the skin right off her friend's face! No joke! Go look it up! So yea I know probably no one is plannin on goin out to buy a monkey but... just sayin is all.

  • @TheRoamingGnome2 ummm...I think that was a gorilla...not a monkey...

  • @CammyWhite499 Actually it was a chimp, but either way point is Monkey(Or any wild animal)+pet=no! I know it's dumb to be saying this here it's just a warning I guess...

  • Milky!

  • To make a vid about pets in Japan was a really great idea ^_^ Yet I thought that there'll be more "unusual" answers, as I've always imagined that apart from dogs and cats some animals indigenous to Japan would be mentioned :) I liked when this old lady answered "eel" and I liked this last guy ^_^ I agree that he seems friendly and I like hamsters too ^_^

  • I was not expecting that guy to say that he wanted a hampster! How cute! >.<

  • People who say the first girl is cute didn't watch til the very end ;)

  • inu neko

  • Monkey is a pretty popular choice for unusual pet

  • the guy at 5:50 - I really like his smile! He seems so friendly. :D

  • The first girl is soo cute :)

  • How do you do it? Just setup up a booth and invite people to come and your question? haha

  • Your videos are brilliant (: and I love that nickname: old man. You put so much effort in your videos which make them worth watching. Thanks for that!

  • I wonder if we see these people still in these interviews in a year or two if their English is improved over the years compared to the recent videos.

One would reckon that this would happen, at least the listening part. As in they'll respond faster.

  • Comment removed

  • I really like the grandma :D Her English is really good. The girls at the end are cute too.

What about bunnies? My lil cousin got a bunny a couple months back and he seems to really like them.

  • I love kitties!

  • Yay Interviews! I love the people and their answers. I wish I had a small monkey or a large tank with a small shark.

  • Pet monkey? Never heard of that in Belgium. I'm pretty sure it's even illegal to own a pet monkey here. Can you have any kind of pet you'd like in Japan or are there restrictions aswell?

  • I think you should have asked that one girl what she "would like TO HAVE", I think she thought you just meant what animal she like.

    "Milky", omg.

    I have a cat but I want a dog.

  • I would love a pet Varren!! :D

  • where do u meet these people? like not trying to be disrespectful they just seem a bit diverse in terms of age

  • Thanks for another awesome video!

  • don't they have pet rocks there?

  • In these interviews, I always think about how we are taught French at school, and how English probably goes through their minds,

  • Have you interviewed the guy at 5:40 before? He seems so familiar.

Nobody mentioned rats :( Rats are awesome :D

  • @FHomeBrew Yes, he has.

  • the guy at 2:50 is the best at speaking and understanding english. i think that was his first mistake ever in an interview. he said mouses instead of mice.

  • Hedgehogs are pretty damn unusual.

  • I remember going to a mall in Utsunomiya last week, and there was a pet shop. There were these baby kittens that were over $1200 dollars!!

  • ....ferrets .....only ferrets :)

  • The woman @ 2:10 seems to be very knowledgeable in the English language ^-^

  • Love the interviews, thanks!! Everyone has progressed along great

  • ahhh the girl at the end was cute <33 xD

    "Subscribe to thejapanchannel!" haha

    awesome (:

  • girl at 4:20 are so cute... greetings from croatia!

  • @simbadgo Is*

  • @MurdocLC hmm??

  • @simbadgo Girl at 4:20 IS cute...*

  • @MurdocLC sry my english isnt good :) hehe

  • @simbadgo I see. Watch more english TV and movies, and use english online. It will help a lot. Also, don't forget to type correctly no matter what language. Ganbatte ne~!

  • My dad also like to have a monkey :D

so I guess, he can totally agree with japanese people ^___^

thanks for this interview : )

  • Milky is so cute ~

  • Pigs and monkeys! Awwww. An Eel, how odd!

  • nobody mentioned bunnies, I am surprised. And I understand the ones who said they do not want a pet, pets can be very time consuming.

  • Something about the smiley people in these videos makes me all smiley. Great way to start the day. :)

    Keep up the good work.

  • I know some who had an emu, but not in their house. Owls are cool.

  • @BeerLabelBuilder Because schoolboy legs are hairy?

  • I would like a tiger ;DDDD

  • Your videos are awesome and interesting as always ^^ keep them coming.

  • can you make a video asking them about the weirdest questions people have asked them, please?

  • Now I wish I wasn't subscribed so I could subscribe now. xD

The most unusual pet.... cockroach! or... a milipede thingy!

  • @xMandalorex He speaks to them all like that. After all, how often are you going to hear English normally in Japan? Even if your English was a high level (like one of the men who appears in white business shirt in his videos), you would be rusty after not hearing it often and it takes a few seconds to minutes to switch your mind to work in another language sometimes.

It is safer to avoid repition and causing the other person to lose face, for asking to repeat, by speaking slowly and clearly.

  • Any comments that disrespect the people in the video will be deleted.

As always, rude people will be blocked.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Very straight forward my friend!

  • 猫はかわいいです。私は三つ猫あります。

  • Cats will rule the world.

  • ilove these interviews :)

  • @BeerLabelBuilder She obviously should have worn a burqa instead of her ordinary school uniform.

  • @BeerLabelBuilder silly question ;)

  • monkeys are so cute. until they fling the poo.lol

  • the man at 3:11 has really good English. Thanks for posting this I love these interviews there really cool :)

  • I have a pet pig. XD

  • I think that through all those interviews their english have improved a lot.

Always a joy to see smiley people.

Thank you for yet another nice video.

  • I love these people but I love cats the best.

  • So many people in my town have little dogs. So annoying cause they always seem to run in front of my bike when they are on a walk...

  • cats are the best!!!

  • Monkey is so cute ~
