They are /not/ made of pure Nd, Although loosely called neodymium magnets, they're also known as NdFeB, NIB, or Neo magnets. See the Wikipedia article, Neodymium magnets. Neodymium, by itself, is useless for making magnets! It's paramagnetic (see Wikipedia about that, also.)
