  • I've still got the original vinyl album - Phyllis looks absolutely angelic on the back cover. I was a huge fan of Kitchener bands - having seen most of them live at The Pavillion in Sauble Beach. Copperpenny were fantastic - I have a really rare 45 of them doing "Summertime" in the Billy Stewart style. I heard Rich Wamil was playing in a great group called "Gravity". I can be contacted via e-mail at northdan@bell.net

  • bill mclaughlin is my grandpa

  • cool to see this on youtube as my dad was the drummer for this band. cool to see all of the eople that really dig it too

  • great sound reminds me of cleethorpes ktf

  • Wishing Well Club 1975! Alford

  • I started college around this time and on the daily drive to the university this song would pour out of my brother's 1962 Volkswagen 6 inch Dynamic speaker -- That speaker was phenomenal -- as was the music of this time [and this song] --Thanks for the video!! Terrific song!!!

  • It's been a long, long time. Thanx for this.

  • The record hit big on English Northern Soul Scene reaching anthem status at Wigan Casino Allnighters in the early 70's and still considered by many as a classic dancer of that era heavily played producing new dance styles and crazes.

    B-side Here With You.Class Record 5 * Post !

  • I'm very surprised of this "beat" for Rain while "Make Me" was an hard rock tune! This one seems to be DISCO!

  • Nah. Disco wasn't invented until three years after this record was made.

  • just home from a northern soul night,,, wish you would get into my life,,,see you tuesday 10.15am,,,from your bin emptier,,,,xxxxxxxx your so gorgeous xxxx

  • another great Canadian classic played on CKLW alot. I have this song on an Axe LP collection.

  • Hey, Mojo, do you have in your magic briefcase

"Stop me from believing in you" by Rain?

  • Sorry, man, it took me some 35 years to find this one record by them! It'll be awhile before I find another one!

  • Thanks for posting this classic, I used to pester the DJs something rotten for this one.

  • fab record a real northern stomper a pure claccic gem.

  • Thank you, you've done it again, I saw Charity Brown and rain at the University of Waterloo when I was about...(age)...Well forget that. Great song...thanks again

  • Thought I'd click on some songs I didn't know. But hey, I DO know this one after all. Last comment of the day for me, tremendous visiting your videos today, thanks for the great memories and I'll keep checking in.

  • memory's flood back from this many thx

  • Say, do you have a video of Reno by the Gemtones? It's an instrumental. I still have the 45 bought in Montreal circa 1964.

  • I'm afraid not. I suggest you look up user "tokensurfer" and ask him. He has a lot of very obscure Canadian records, many from Quebec.

  • Here's an obscure Canadian single that needs some exposure: "Understanding is Sorrow" by another Kitchener Ontario group called YUKON in 1971.

It got a lot of play on CKXL in Calgary back in the day.

Doing a recent Google search revealed that it had indeed been up very briefly on YT and then pulled.

Was that you Mojoman? If so, would you put it back up?

  • No, it wasn't me. But if it was up and then pulled, I'm not willing to risk my account to post it again. Three strikes and you're out, and all that.

  • Understood.

Are you familiar with the song?

Have any idea's for tracking it down?

    THANKS!!

  • Sure, I know it; I have the single. I can find only one copy for sale on the web, at a site called gemm, for $20 due to its scarcity, and it's listed as only in Good condition. I wouldn't pay that much for a record in less than VG+ (better than Very Good) shape. You can create a search agent on that site that will notify you when another copy is listed. Eventually a better one will turn up there, and it might be less expensive.

  • I moved recently and my 45 rpm boxes are out of my reach. I hope to get to this soon & would be glad to run your test(unless my sister visiting me from Waterloo took the 45 back home with her).

  • Thank you. If you are able at some time, I'd appreciate it.

  • I'd never sell it.

  • Could you do record historians a favor? Can you tell us if your copy is presssed off-center? I believe that most of the times I've heard this record on the radio, it wandered back and forth, inducing seasickness because the disc was stamped off-kilter. How to tell: place the disc on the TT, run it and look at the grooves to see if they appear to go back and forth instead of remaining still. Thanks!

  • I still have my copy on the London label.

  • Hang on to it! It's worth some coin already.

  • Thanks for finally finding this gem! And giving us the pleasure of hearing it once again.

  • great dance track
