Daoc was fun because there was no bbk, and the atmosphere was particular. Obviously, MMORPGs were later improved and adapted especially to casual players, daoc instead was a game very group linked to interactions between the realms, and not to the individual or as the arenas in wow.
In addition, each class was important for his purpose, but now wow all classes are equal (and boring)
Oh...not potions by the way - buffs are insta cast on your toon. Pay a small amount of gold and pick the buff combo you want (all buffs, just specs, etc).
Labyrinth of the Minotaur was a terrible expansion. An overly huge, boring dungeon that takes everyone out of the frontiers and DF. The minotaur race is stupid and so is the mauler. Atlantis and Labby suck because neither one made sense in the lore

It's funny how such and old game still kicks ass compared to new games. If you never tried daoc before, just make a trial account, its 14 days free, and do the tasks from the taskmaster all the way up to max lvl, it goes really fast to lvl up to max lvl.
@NemoPhonz imo you should download Uthgard Freeshard and play DAoC on there ... the fact is you play on a classic server with all the best aspects of the game it's free and has a strong player backing

Everytime I've played some other MMO (as in WoW, LineAge, LOTRO, WAR) I always end up comparing them to DAoC - DAoC set the bar, if only it had gotten more credit. It's not too late to try it out. They've just released a super cluster of servers and revamped loads of stuff, so it's way more "newbie" friendly these days. Give it a go guys, it's so worth it!
I resub'ed. AMAZING! It seems like the old days! Main cities are no longer ghost towns and we see players everywhere. I noticed NEW players (not veteran rolls), who never played the game before....simply amazing. DAoC never dies and all I can say is resub now!

It is a game for grown-ups, unlike other MMOs (naming no names but think the biggest, here :) & it rocks. People complain about the graphics, which I don't really understand; the game is gorgeous, to the point that when I started I spent a lot of time just looking at things. & anyway gameplay is what makes a game, imo; & the gameplay can't be beat by any MMO.

European servers are. The new US cluster however just reached its cap and they've actually got to up it. And GOA is losing their license so in a while you'll get to transfer your european characters to the US.
@deytrox The European servers were recently merged with the U.S. servers (which is really one big server -- it's only divided to avoid overpopulation, and you can port between them anytime and be in the same place in the world. mystic just put up a note a few days ago saying it was testing a couple of new servers for non-English speakers who want to play with players who speak their native language.
@ipwnnn00bs4life Any of the pure fighting classes are newb-friendly in terms of being easy to learn and hard to kill. (Albion's Armsmen are so easy to play, i got bored with mine; but then ny the time i made him, I already had 6 months of playing a not-so-easy hybrid class under my belt.). Or you try a Hib vampire, which are overpowered--Mythic doesn't balance classes so much as realms; which it does quite well, since all 3 realms are always griping about how they get no love, a good sign. :)
Hey i played DAOC for YEARS and i quit and i just quit warhammer because it was nothing like DAOC and quit WoW recently becuase its just well....gay....Are the days of group PVP in NF coming back like 8v8s and small grp fights not zergy laby? or are NF fights in the open still rare? They have clustered servers - you can log in and play with 3,500 people *(and growing) during prime time. There are again clustering everything into one MEGA server called Ywain - so you will get all the glory days of DAoC back in a nutshell. Worried about a second account and buff bots to pump your toon? They are creating yellow potion buffs...
Unfortunately, for me, the glory days of DAoC were a about 6 months after classic servers started, right up until about 2 years ago. Or also the Pre-TOA days when the game was a lot more slower and more tactical. I don't see either of those days coming back unfortunately, while the new server cluster might be cool, it isn't going to bring back the awesomeness of classic or pre-TOA servers.
@killingman22 It's 10 housing servers. Because of all the differen players who cross realmed - they had to allow for them to include all their housing. There is only 1 Ywain - but ten instances of housing. However, an irritation (among others) is that you will be Bob of Ywain 8 or Hoover of Ywain 2, and to contact someone you will have to include their server name - even though they are in your guild lol. Old game - I play Rift now - not waiting any more for DAoC to be allowed to improve.
@franticricky1 There are npcs in frontiers and one in Labyrinth, Darkness Falls, etc., where you can get fully buffed. Not quite the same as a +25% to buffs bot - but very nice to have - when running with a group that is, since team work and realm abilities win the day with team vs team. The potions are NOT timed. You lose them when you leave a pvp zone or when you die.
Such an awsome game... to bad i coulnt understand how to play this game wen i got it, i culdn't lvl up... but then again i was freiking 8 years old... Now i'm sad that my dad cancelled it and wont let me play it, but one of these days!

By far the best game I have ever played. Everytime I've played some other MMO (as in WoW, LineAge, LOTRO, WAR) I always end up comparing them to DAoC - DAoC set the bar, if only it had gotten more credit. It's not too late to try it out.
